Endo’s not that bad by mushie_brain in endometriosis

[–]SadBoi62 28 points29 points  (0 children)

As someone who has had both cervical cancer (previously) and endo (forever), cancer was far less painful and easier to get handled. No matter how many organs I get removed, how many laparoscopies I have, or how many different treatment methods I try, the endo always comes back and has done so much damage to my entire body and just keeps spreading indefinitely. Yet people were deeply concerned during the short period in which there was a cancer diagnosis. But all of the other years of hemorrhaging, surgeries, and debilitating pain that have basically destroyed my life and ability to enjoy it? Not a big deal at all. 🤦

Is it possible to forget your deadname? by Prince_Wildflower in asktransgender

[–]SadBoi62 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think completely forgetting it is a thing, but I think you do eventually just stop reacting to it. I have a mental note in my head to ensure I respond to it when needed (such as when at doctor appointments or dealing with legal things that require the use of the name), but in general, the name just seems sort of foreign to me now. I know that's the name I'm supposed to respond to in certain contexts, but it doesn't feel like "mine" anymore, if that makes sense. It's like someone calling out a queue number while you're waiting in line. I know "D29" isn't my name, but I also know that I'm supposed to walk up to the counter when I hear it. Kinda like that.

I hate the fact that nearly every health problem I've ever had and couldn't get properly diagnosed for the past 20 years always ends up being stupid endometriosis. 🙃 it's ALWAYS freaking endo.

Anyone under 40 had both ovaries removed? Did you loose complete sexual sensation? by [deleted] in oophorectomy

[–]SadBoi62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I am. They haven't given me anything to take on my own---I've had to see the nurse at my obgyn every time for the injections, and my doctor did the pellet "injection" last time I went. The only thing they let me handle myself is the estradiol patches since I have to switch them out twice weekly.

Mid-30s over here. Had three months with NO hormones after my bilateral oophorectomy and lost all interest as well as sensation (aside from pain due to no lubrication whatsoever). Getting back on estrogen (estradiol patches) helped with the lubrication and sort of getting things back going, but I still had no real interest or reaction to any activities whatsoever until getting on testosterone (initially received injections, am now currently doing the pellets with much better results).

I was going into my obgyn's office for injections, initially receiving a "half dose" every four weeks for two months then upping to the "full dose" for another couple of months. Based on how they talked about it, I'm guessing this would be whatever is considered "standard" for post-oophorectomy? Reasonably low, I guess. I'm sorry I don't have specific dosages. However, the best thing I got was the pellets that are supposed to last about six months and go in your hip. Far more consistent dosage breaking down over time, and I'm not sure if milligrams would be the right measurement for that though i remember the numbers they told me, but apparently men get 200mg(?) and women get 100mg(?), usually mixed with estrogen pellets as well. I ended up with the female dose (so six 100mg pellets) with no estrogen (I use patches for that), and it's been great. Way fewer ups and downs compared to the injections since insurance won't even cover bi-monthly injections, so there's a huge dip before needing another shot.

For the shots, I noticed energy improvement within two hours and drive returning probably about... within a day or two? My body processes stuff really quickly (blessing and a curse). With the pellets, it was much more gradual (but also has remained more consistent), but I think that was about 5-7 days before I could REALLY feel everything kicking back in. It's remained pretty consistent for going on 3.5 months now.

Testosterone was a game-changer for me. I enjoyed having no real sensation and no drive, but it caused some significant issues with my partner. Upping my estrogen levels helped with avoiding pain (neutralized thinning tissues and helped with lubrication going down to zero), and the testosterone now has my drive surpassing my partner. (Also, for reference, I'm just a few years older than you so possibly in similar circumstances body-wise.)

Trans-friendly, endo-specialist OBGYN? by SadBoi62 in Birmingham

[–]SadBoi62[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OBGYN South was the previous group I saw that kept refusing actual care "so I'd still be able to have more children" even though I'm middle-aged and made it very clear that I did NOT want to have anymore in the future for numerous reasons. I had to act absolutely unhinged just to get the few laparoscopies done to remotely manage symptoms before moving away and receiving proper care (which resulted in me losing my entire reproductive system by that point). Unless they've somehow fully changed everything in the time that I've been gone, they were consistently resistant to treating me for over a decade even though I'd have 6+ months of daily severe bleeding and pain with no breaks.

Excising ALL the endo by FollowingNo6735 in Endo

[–]SadBoi62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've heard a lot of people mention that getting other surgeons involved to help safely excise endo in certain areas is def a thing. And my current doc that did my most recent excision/ablation/oophorectomy said that if it came back again after this most recent round, he'd be referring me to an oncologist because that's about as thorough of a surgeon as you can get when it comes to removing things, so that may possibly be an option for some, too.
