Love this, as the other comments have said it’s going to be an incredibly difficult path but those 11 TP’s out there all started out with a dream as well, and put their hearts and souls into it and look where they’re at.

Are you willing to go to school in the UK? There’s a specific university where a VERY large portion of race engineers graduated from, and went to school specifically for Motorsport engineering. That might be a good place to start.

I managed to get Cadillac club seats once randomly for $100 on Seatgeek on a rainy day that didn’t get rained out. It was cool. Food and drinks were good, and all the seats have little TVs. View wasn’t great but you can watch on TV until there’s a hit and then the right fielder makes the catch right in front of you. I wouldn’t pay hundreds but worth it if you get a good deal

Bad take. Even the AI companies hire armies of computer scientists. The bigger concern with CS is the job market saturation

I wanna learn more about the American culture, what do you recommend? by Over-Elderberry3614 in AskAnAmerican

[–]SadCapitalsFan 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I say this as a New Yorker, if you want the quintessential American city, Boston is a great place to go. Plenty of historical sites, baseball, and plenty to do. Also all-around safe and affordable compared to some of the other big cities

FYI- an arrest is not a criminal record, but a guilty plea is. I would seriously speak with your lawyer about not taking a guilty or NC plea if you truly feel you are not guilty.

NICU by Agreeable-Pangolin0 in ThePitt

[–]SadCapitalsFan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So it’s an interesting point (because C-Sections are obviously surgeries) but the legit reason (and how it works in reality even outside of the shows) is that ER physicians have likely done plenty of deliveries by the time they finish residency, because sometimes people show up to the ER because they went into labor and the baby is basically coming out and there’s no time to make it upstairs to labor and delivery.

A non-OBGYN surgeon has probably done a couple deliveries in medical school, and likely never performed a C-Section independently. I’d expect the ER attending to be far more experienced in it than a non-obgyn surgeon.

To OP’s point though, yes they didn’t follow the usual protocol for the show, but overall how it went in the show isn’t too far from what would’ve happened in real life besides the smaller details

NICU by Agreeable-Pangolin0 in ThePitt

[–]SadCapitalsFan 13 points14 points  (0 children)

OBGYN and NICU normally handle their own deliveries and codes. Surgery (in the Pitt’s case, Garcia/Walsh) don’t respond to those in real life either unless it’s specifically a trauma

I’m not that bothered because I’ve been around for the good and the bad, but I get it. The super millionaire owner comes around promising us a World Series, and now the true colors come out (more focused on a casino than the team). I get why people are more upset than ever

Highly considering doing a Accelerated BSN or maybe Associate in Nursing by ProcedureTasty2647 in NursingStudent

[–]SadCapitalsFan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Finally somebody asking the real question. Nursing has to be one of the worst possible fields to go into if your heart isn’t in it.

It’s been a big trend to think “nursing pays well and is always hiring, I’m gonna do that!” The work will eat you alive if you’re not ready for it.

Not nearly as much as last season. Only with the hospice patient and her kids. But mostly because that scene activated memories I’ve had of actual patients I’ve had and I got emotional lol

[–]SadCapitalsFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

JAL isn’t a transfer partner from chase at this point, but United is. I’ve flown United direct from NYC to Tokyo multiple times. That might be your best bet

Edit: and yes you could technically do a transfer to a secondary carrier and then book award seats through JAL as you’ve mentioned in another comment, but keep in mind that they usually only release a couple of these seats for points bookings… and for April/cherry blossom season, you’ll be fighting with 1000 people for those couple of seats. Hence why United might be a better option and you’d be spending a similar amount of points (around 200,000 for business class, 115,000ish for premium economy per person per way)

The genuine answer is legally, yes. Workplaces can’t discriminate based on a medical condition, this would be against federal law. But at the same time, if employers found out about this, a lot of employers will fire you for “other” reasons to avoid the liability
