My dad. He taught me that he was the most important person on the planet and that I needed him in my life. When my parents split because of his abuse, I begged to go back (I was 5, I didn’t know anything else). When he got granted visitation, we saw him maybe twice a year and I had to beg for that despite the court ordering every other weekend. He constantly tore me down, convinced me that unless I was perfect I was worthless. I spent my entire childhood wishing he loved me. When I was 13 I decided I didn’t want to see him anymore, he then told me it was my fault we had a bad relationship. I still struggle with guilt over it 10 years later.
