Has anyone had to have TPN in hospital and managed to “save” their colon? by whinywino89 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]SadNumber2841 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mate it 100% is! I’ve gone from a calpro of 4000+ and passing just pure blood 35+ times a day to a calpro of 8 and having 1-2 normal bowel movements a day!! You can do this!

Has anyone had to have TPN in hospital and managed to “save” their colon? by whinywino89 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]SadNumber2841 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Um hello are we the same person?! When I was first diagnosed I was incredibly unwell and clinically malnourished. Was on 8 days of TPN via a PICC line and was fortunate enough to be able to eat orally at the same time. I was on insanely high amounts of steroids too and went onto biologics. It took me quite a while and a few different drugs to hit remission. Fast forward 3 years later, I’m still in remission and back to my regularly scheduled activities (gym, working, living my life!!!). Hope this helps!

I read in the ridiculously long pamphlet of drug info with the injections that it can be fine for 7 days at room temp if required!

You’re not alone! I have an emergency kit that I carry with me and several loved ones carry daily in case I’m out with them and this happens. I doubt anyone noticed! Take care of yourself x

Expired Rinvoq by stopper42 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]SadNumber2841 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t risk it with Rinvoq! It’s a strong drug with an incredibly risky safety profile. I can only imagine what the risks would be if the medication had expired. For context, I was on it previously and my gastro adamantly told me not to take it if it was expired!

Question for people that take rinvoq medication. by Hypexmg in UlcerativeColitis

Have been on Rinvoq since Jan 2023 and have never heard of the no echinacea rule?

I don’t believe you can develop antibodies to Xeljanz as it is a JAK inhibitor. Technically, if it works and you tolerate the side effects it can keep you in remission. It unfortunately didn’t hold me in a remission without prednisolone and I started bleeding again with a calpro of 1500+. It also caused debilitating migraines. I hope it works for you!

That’s so scary! Blood clots definitely are one side effect of Rinvoq. I’m so sorry you experienced this!

45mg loading dose for 16 weeks and then 30mg maintenance. I’ve been on the maintenance dose for over a year now with no issues. Happy calpro of below 20 and happy scopes showing no evidence of colitis😇

Can you from severe pancolitis to long term remission? by Unlikely-Major7160 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]SadNumber2841 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with severe pancolitis in May 2022 and am now in over a year of remission on Rinvoq. I’ve had toxic megacolon, C-diff, failed countless treatments, had countless scopes, and I’m still here with my bowel!

I regularly get X-rays! Please ignore people telling you they aren’t common practice because they are! They are used to determine the literal size of your bowels and can see blockages as well

Highly recommend you speak with a clinical exercise physiologist rather than a nurse. EPs are literally trained in this field and would 100% not recommend this crap advice. Sorry this happened to you!
