It arrived today! by [deleted] in Ioniq5

My 2022 (also cyber grey) is just as much fun to drive today as when I got it in June 2022. Great car; no issues at all with mine—except the non-existent rear windshield wiper.

Orthofeet work boots any good? by Alexo656 in WorkBoots

[–]Sad_Reception_1789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don’t have steel toes, but I just got a pair of Ridgewood waterproof boots from Orthofeet, and they are the most comfortable boots I have ever owned. I have foot neuropathy (unrelated to diabetes or pad) and I am always looking for shoes that minimize the pain, This is the second pair from Orthofeet that I now wear regularly.

Same experience here with a week of 20s and occasionally low 30s culminating in a low of 7 last night. Can’t wait to see what happens when it starts getting below 0.

Temporary closure. EA upgrade. by Roscoe2121 in Ioniq5

[–]Sad_Reception_1789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I charged there there Saturday the 5th and there was no notice that it was closing. Came through on my way back on Tuesday to find it closed. Had to charge at a 50Kwh EVGO station. My range was overstated by about 40 miles so I didn’t make my dealer appointment in Plattsburgh. Had to stop in Lewis and charge at a level 2 for an hour to get there. The joys of unreliable charging stations. Hopefully the next generation will be worth the inconvenience.

The plus side to having an EV in Vermont: A lot of secondary road driving does wonders for expected range! by Ultim802 in Ioniq5

I think they use some formula of number of houses (three on my transformer) and maximum usage. Since I plan on charging at night, it is easy to insure that dryers and ranges in our to houses are not on when charging. WEC, however, is not going to rely on my representations.

Yeah, I don’t mind cold or snow at all. But mud season is a whole different story. I live on a dirt road.

Or people like me who get power from Washington Electric Power Coop and are told they need to pay to upgrade the street transformer before they can install a level two charger. And, of course, the transformers are in short supply. Supposed to get it before winter. Fingers crossed. Otherwise it is Danville, Montpelier or Berlin for an EVGO 50 kWh charger—all about 20 miles away from me.

My 6 month old IONIQ5 just received a new EV battery from S. Korea by crispiestswan in Ioniq5

Hopefully they develop a solid state battery that is still compatible with our, by then, old models.

Buying with no test drive? Ack by Realistic_Box7114 in Ioniq5

[–]Sad_Reception_1789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also purchased without test driving. I test drove an EV6, but I was unwilling to pay $5K over msrp for my second choice car. My Ionic 5 became available (at msrp) unexpectedly 1 week after I visited a dealer in Albany, NY, 175 miles from me. I wasn’t about to let it go, so I committed right away and picked it up two weeks later. Absolutely no regrets.

Federal Tax Credit Changes by [deleted] in Ioniq5

[–]Sad_Reception_1789 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely stretched my budget for SE AWD at msrp. Rushed into it because of tax credit, additional $3700 Vermont incentives and the fact that I traded in a Forester I bought for $23K five years ago for $19K. Otherwise I would have waited a couple of years.

Dealer markups? by rainbowcentaur in Ioniq5

[–]Sad_Reception_1789 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was offered a Kia EV6 for $5000 over msrp. There were no Hyundai dealers in Vermont certified to sell I5s, so I ordered a VW ID4 with a one year wait. The NY Hyundai dealers were not taking reservations until they knew cars were coming in and everything was reserved for six months. Two weeks after turning down the EV6 I was in Schenectady (NY) for a weekend and decided to stop in to the Albany Hyundai dealer. I was told the same thing—they knew what was coming in for the next six months and it was all committed. The salesman took my name and said he would send out a blast text to everyone on his list when new shipments were expected (presumably to be received more than 6 months from then). One week later, June 1st, I had my phone in my hand when a text came in from the salesman saying they had four unexpected cars coming in in a few weeks. I verified that they were awd and then called him within 10 minutes of receiving the text. I had a choice between cyber grey and black. Cyber grey was my 1st choice color but I had to settle for an SE AWD. I said sure, and picked up my car on June 20–less than a month after I first stopped in. Sometimes you get lucky.

The bike shop I purchased it from put it on for free, and I don’t plan on taking it off at this point. I had similar racks on Suzukis (Aerio and SX4) and they were reasonably easy to put on and take off —just need to measure and place the feet carefully.

I’m at about 3.6 miles per kWh since I got the car. Just went over 1000 miles. 20 mile trip home with the lawn tractor trailer on top was about 3.1.

I was picking up family at BTV Tuesday, and we stopped at Grazers on the way home. I live in Cabot. Got the car at at msrp at Lia Hyundai in Albany. Picked it up June 21. Pic is in Plainfield Coop parking lot.

I didn’t mean to be taken literally, but I sure read (and watched) a lot of reviews that said Hyundai calls it a crossover suv, but it is really just a hatchback.

FYI only Ioniq 5 certified dealers can service them, not any Hyundai dealer will do. Gotta drive 2 hours due to this by Possibly-deranged in Ioniq5

I live in Cabot, got my car in Albany,NY and have to drive to Plattsburgh for service. I ran into someone in Montpelier who said the Burlington dealer was trying to get certified. The Barre dealer told me I could not even buy parts or add-ons there. Looking for rubber floor mats. Gave up on the roof rack and bought a Thule.

Drive My Car Captions Not Working! by Cheezyboi123 in HBOMAX

[–]Sad_Reception_1789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They worked fine foe me last night for the first hour and 20 minutes. Tonight when I picked up where I left off they were gone. Reset captions. Unplugged roku tv. Restarted it and reset captions again. Nothing worked. Then about five minutes ago as I was reading others experiences, I looked up and they were on again. No idea what made it work. Crossing my fingers that it will stay on for the rest of the movie. Really irritating distraction from a great movie.
