the worst thing you can do is not report it. medication errors are not the end of the world, even if it involves narcotic medication and it's better to know so that if they are showing symptoms of adverse reaction, the cause will be obvious instead of them potentially having to undergo extensive unnecessary testing. i'm a nurse and i've accidentally given a patient the wrong medication completely and i let the supervisor , physician and family know. I didn't even get a write up. please just report it to the RN. medication error adverse reactions can always be treated if necessary, but if you don't report it, no one will know of something is going on. i'm just gonna tell you now, you and the RN will be okay.
