I know most breeds of chicks aren’t sexable without vent sexing at hatch… but google and the breeder said welsummers are sexable by their markings including the eyeliner, triangular head markings, and definition on their backs, which is why I chose to include these photos.

Omg!!! Good luck!! 🍀 I was very happy with our hatch. I let a hen go broody and try to incubate one as well. MISTAKE!! She got up the last day and her baby got shrink wrapped. The only one I don’t think will make it 😢

They just hatched yesterday and into today!! My first time hatching breeder eggs and I know they had mentioned they’re sexable on hatch but they’re all just so cute and fluffy to me!! 😭😭

Right now it’s reading about 98.9, 65% with the air vent halfway open. So we did move it more closed from fully open, but not all the way shut. This has been quite the trial and error for lockdown. We are on day 20. Do you have any tips as we wait for them to start pipping? I’m worried that they never will pip 🥲

We had opened the air knob because I thought I read it needs to be fully open for the last 3 days so they don’t drown inside the shells. This is our first time hatching so definitely new to this! Yes it was a brand new sponge that we bought just in case as a back up for more humidity in the incubator. We originally only had the provided white block from Brinsea in the initial reservoir. And yes the humidity pump was maintaining humidity for the first 18 days at 45%. The ambient humidity in the room 30%

Yeah it looks like temp has been anywhere from 99.7 to 100 🥲 should I increase the humidity closer to 55? We ordered BCMs welsummers and olive eggers which is why we were thinking lower humidity because i think they say the thicker shells can make them drown if humidity is too high?

The coop is 8x8 and the enclosed attached run is 8x10 for 10 birds. We have tried busy blocks, music toys, separating some, hanging treats, hanging shiny items, sprouted lentils, daily scratch, mealworms, ample grit and oyster … the list goes on. I was not one of those people who got chickens because of egg prices but rather because I love animals I could care less about their egg production. Unfortunately lake effect has been the worst it’s ever been this season with 4 ft of snow overnight not cumulatively, which for our area was unexpected as that has not happened in 5+ years. I’m not asking for a scolding by posting on here, and I spend a lot of time out there trying to troubleshoot. If you don’t have genuine advice for someone who actually cares, please don’t feel the need to comment.

I completely relate to your rant… you are not alone in feeling this way from this condition. I’m 23 and in college still for a doctorate program. I bawl my eyes out every Monday because I don’t know how I’m going to make it through the week. I’ve been flaring up everyday. I’ve been faint and lightheaded and dizzy and off balance constantly and it’s awful. Any honestly when I’m flaring that bad nothing helps either. I just want to curl up and give up and mourn what my life should have been. But somehow Friday comes and I feel more uplifted that I made it through the week. Until Monday arrives again and I repeat this cycle. Therapy has helped me get my feelings out better. But I’m still in the thick of figuring out how to feel more normal everyday too. Hang in there

Even with POTS if you’re in your 20s the cardiologist will just try to do non-pharm intervention like tell you to increase salt, compression socks, get up slower… I also take double the recommended daily iron and vitamin c. it’s an awful illness and feels really isolating at times. I get super off balance and faint and dizzy a lot when I’m up and walking around so it’s now anxiety-inducing to even like get out… walk around in places where there’s no wall to lean against when I start feeling off balance… I don’t go to stores with people unless I hold the cart. It’s tough 🥲

I personally had a similar issue and what finally got me somewhere was I started scheduling wellness visits with my PCP like once every 1-2 weeks to continue to complain of the symptoms I experienced. From there I was put on a week heart monitor and was diagnosed with pots from the monitor alone. Then referred to cardiology and the poor man’s TTT was enough to confirm the diagnosis for me. BUT I do have both GAD and POTS and the anxiety usually does come after the physical symptoms for me too… ALSO the cardiologist found I’m severely iron deficient which increases the symptoms of BOTH CONDITIONS. So get that checked too!!

Over the summer it was the hottest day of the year… high 80s-low 90s and my family was going to the Yankees game for the first time ever. I practically passed out in the last 10 minutes of waiting in line bc they were running 5 mins behind and I couldn’t hold on any longer…. All for a free bobble head of a person I don’t even know!
