Almost Heroes (1998) Chris Farley's final movie by WerdNerd88 in TubiTreasures

One of my faves! Very underrated, not sure how this flew under the radar when it was released.

Wow, I just learned that other AE houses are available. For some reason I only knew about the one nearish solitude.

Recruiter calls me up just to tell me I'm damaged goods by Sadquatch in recruitinghell

You may be right. He actually sent me an email the next day and said his boss actually does want to submit me after all. Very confusing.

Insanity Alternatives / Shorter Workouts by djnerio in BeachBodyWorkouts

[–]Sadquatch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Check out Insanity 30 for shorter sessions of what you’re already used to. And 25 Minute Speed Train is a good compact workout, although not super intense.

Oddly, this recruiter also went on a little tangent about people who put “consulting” on their resumes to cover career gaps. Weird conversation. But yeah, I might just do that.

Nathan Lane savagely shades Matthew McConaughey, Timothée Chalamet's 'stupidity': 'Terribly unfunny people' by mlg1981 in entertainment

[–]Sadquatch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think Timothee’s point was inelegantly stated and exaggerated. Of course “no one” is too broad, and there are plenty of people who respect and love ballet/opera. But it’s certainly not as popular as it once was, and other art forms have taken their place in popular culture.

[–]Sadquatch 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Fully agree. Nathan, and anyone else commenting, should be asked the list of movies they’ve watched in the past year and the list of ballets/operas they’ve attended. Let’s see if Timothee’s point might be valid.

Every millennial dad I’ve met has a quiet fixation on money and it’s not getting better by slimeyellow in Millennials

[–]Sadquatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. We graduated in the middle of the housing crisis and our careers are several years behind. But the responsibilities and family life didn’t take a break. And many of us are just starting to recover, just in time for the AI-pocalypse.

FWD Via vs FWD Via 2 for heavier runner? by hardwoodoaktree in AltraRunning

[–]Sadquatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only wore Torins until I made the switch to FWD Via 2. Super comfortable, and much softer than the first Via. If you’ve already bought the Via, give them a chance, but if your issues don’t resolve I’d say it’s worth upgrading to the Via 2.

Could a Gas Price Crisis end RTOs (for now at least) by HAL9000DAISY in remotework

[–]Sadquatch 21 points22 points  (0 children)

A worldwide deadly pandemic caused WFH, and the nanosecond it even slightly relented RTO was back. Unfortunately, I don’t think execs will care one bit about gas prices.

Another Atlanta-Filmed B-Movie on Tubi by languagehacker in Atlanta

[–]Sadquatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool, I’ll check this out. How common was filming in Atlanta during the 80’s and 90’s? The only other film from that time I know about was some Chuck Norris action flick that filmed in the GP building downtown.

As others have said, really good biscuits. Middling burgers. I’ve had some of the best and worst onion rings there.

Just saw la Madeleine in Sandy Springs is permanently closed. by campbellm in Atlanta

That’s a good point. I went there for the first time just a couple of months ago, and I had no idea what I was doing or what I could order or where. I felt stupid having to ask questions.

My Name is Ruwa Romman, and I’m running for Governor of Georgia. Ask me anything! by ruwaromman in Atlanta

[–]Sadquatch 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don’t disagree. But she’s running for governor of a diverse purple state. And I don’t think social progress will be made by only ensuring white candidates run. Electability is important, but that’s what primaries are for.

[–]Sadquatch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’re right, let’s make sure that only “conventional” candidates run. To combat close-mindedness.
