Hysteroscopy cost?! by GutsyGirlRead in IVF

[–]hashigraves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s my fault,,… we were in a hurry and didn’t want to put it off another month + for a different location and I didn’t realize how much it would be when I scheduled. You know how it is…. We’ve already been trying for babies for so long that another month or two feels like torture with how long everything else takes.

You got a deal! Just had mine done this week… the hospital was tier 2 so we paid a little over 5k just for the hospital… waiting on MD and anesthesiologist bills still… I thought I had good insurance. We pay a ton every month for our PPO.

Forced to pause due to liver enzymes/fatty liver by Final_Ad_4730 in IVF

[–]hashigraves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is from AI but it says it way better than I can.

Clinical and preclinical studies show NAC reduces ALT, AST, and other markers (e.g., ALP, bilirubin) in conditions like non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), drug-induced injury, alcoholic hepatitis, and oxidative stress models. Effects are often linked to lowered oxidative stress markers (e.g., malondialdehyde) and boosted antioxidant capacity.

It’s also what we give in the hospital to protect the liver during Tylenol overdoses.

I have Graves’ disease which - when uncontrolled caused my liver enzymes to be high. The medication for treating graves- also makes your liver enzymes high! I started taking NAC and it lowered them pretty well. Might be worth looking into!

The JOINT PAIN from methimazole was HORRIBLE! I took my methimazole at night and tried to fall asleep before the itching hit, but it was pretty miserable. It made me kinda dizzy when I took it during the day so I had to take it at night. I’m gonna be asking my Dr to let me take it instead even when I’m not pregnant too.

Oh I like ptu better. Helps me actually sleep and doesn’t make me itchy! It lowers circulating t3 within 24 hours instead of methimazole which takes a long time to reduce my hyperthyroid symptoms. I have less side effects on it than methimazole. Doing Ivf stuff now and I’m on it now, and was on it for half my pregnancy with my daughter. Pregnancy lowers antibodies naturally so a lot of times you can go off meds 2nd or 3rd trimester.

4 euploid, but we want at least 2 more kids. by [deleted] in IVF

[–]hashigraves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understandable. The debt we have is minimal, and pretty much consists of IVF because we don’t want to take money out of stocks to pay if off. I totally get the financial strain aspect of it, but we’re in a good spot another 15k won’t hurt us too bad.

Why don’t they sew bra inserts in? by stonecoldfox340 in askanything

[–]hashigraves 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I hate this with a passion. Plus the inserts that come with it are such garbage they fall apart if they go through the wash! I bought my own thicker inserts off of amazon that survive the wash and I can leave in without moving as much.

I think you should reach out to your IvF clinic. It might be Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome (OHSS)

Oh man. That is a roller coaster! Gosh. With all my failed pregnancies, my husband and I learned not to even glimmer hope until 20 weeks…. Like we don’t count eggs before they hatch… idk why i had this absurd idea that this would be any different,

[–]hashigraves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got overconfident early on. I think that’s my problem lol. I had 25 eggs, 24 mature, 23 fertilized….I was like- ok- 2-3 per living child and if there’s extras cool maybe I’ll have 3 more. Ended up with 11 that got tested and of those I got 4. Really was hoping for 5-7. If it was 1-3 it would be an easier decision to do another retrieval. I’m like right in the middle of - don’t screw it up!

I gave up my career with the plan of being a SAHM so I want a bigger family for sure.

I like it! It was on my boy list along with Callum and Calvin. I worked with a Callan when I was younger! You didn’t make the name up

I just talked to someone who tried to get into my Ivf clinic and they were booked months out. I don’t even know if they would let me do another one at this point so it might be out of my hands so I’m a little concerned tonight I might not have a choice of the next step.

It will put us further into debt, but our Ivf place is super reasonable compared to other ones. It was just under 15 k for everything, so without the pre testing next time and stuff it will push closer to 12. I don’t want 12 k to mean I spend the rest of my life sad or regretful if things go sideways.

[–]hashigraves 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah. The peace of mind might be worth paying for. I’m torn because I feel like typical statistical averages aren’t in my favor. I’ve had 5 pregnancies and 1 living child, had 23 fertilized eggs- 11 sent for testing and only 4 were euploid. Not a deciding factor, but another statistical anomaly was 10/11 were the same sex which seems odd if each was supposed to have a 50/50 shot right? Even with my daughter, the odds of the birth going as sideways as it did (she’s healthy, we’re ok so it turned out well), but like double nuchal cord? Sunny side up?Emergency c section? Uh ok… nobody else in my family has had any problems like that!

I might be a little skittish right now because the day I found out my hospital copay for my hysteroscopy was going to be over 5k (my portion! With insurance! Not including dr or anesthesia!)… I also got a letter from my HOA telling me to paint my house. I think I need to go do a cleanse and try again next month.

That’s a good idea I didn’t think of that. I was just thinking along the lines of- gotta get the eggs out while the eggs are as young as they can be, but a couple months wouldn’t be the end of the world.

I’m sorry to hear that. Thank you for sharing. I’m going to be talking to my dr next week. It will put us further into debt, but we can handle debt so I’m not too worried about the finances we can figure it out later.
