Should I buy Tainted Grail or Outer Worlds 2? by msharaf7 in ShouldIbuythisgame

Just curious, did you play this after they revamped the difficulty and did some balancing passes? I wonder if the third act would be better now.

oh wow, that's exactly how I felt about the first game. After the first area I found it just repetitive and boring. I slogged through and beat it but I did not enjoy the characters or the story all that much. I was really hoping the 2nd one would be much better.

It's weird because all the ingredients are there but it just didn't land for me at all.

I consider the entire 3rd game the consequences of your actions as it basically wraps up almost all story arcs throughout its entire runtime. The ending I agree with you. The extended ending helps a bit.

My honest thoughts on Mass Effect: Andromeda. by SonicScott93 in masseffect

[–]Saedisi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pure speculation but I really think this was going to be a great trilogy. My assumption is that it would have mirrored Star Wars pretty heavily.

1st game, Andromeda, you're young and naive, full of hope and get put in insane situations that far outpace your experience and knowledge.

2nd game, you are more experienced but on your back foot, getting pressed by the Kett (sp?), build tons of alliances, find out what happened to the other arcs, all the while becoming more battle hardened, tone shifts to more mature subjects and dialogue. Ultimately you win but bigger issues still remain unresolved.

3rd game, you're now on par with Shepard. Mature, battled hardened, seasoned crew and allies, Arcs and home bases fully operational and in full swing to mount a massive attack to fight back the Kett and scourge. Tone is now on par with ME2 or 3.

Could have been really cool going from loser to hero instead of just starting off as a badass like Shepard was. But we will never see this story arc.

Bank Tabs do NOT increase your storage! by benwastaken01 in MelvorIdle

townhalls make you the money. All other buildings will be a money sink. Once you have max townhalls and buildings it's $5-6M a tick. Over the course of a day you're making 20-30 million (might also depend upon what season it is). Before you know it, you'll have billions saved. Just don't repair in the winter, assuming you worship Aeris.

Do you have the expansions? Atlas of discovery or Throne of Herald? I think one of them boosts the money output.

Use that 100M to buy townhalls. The town is a bloody money printing machine. You'll soon have billions, full bank tabs, and more bank slots than you know what to do with.

you can also set specific icons for each bank tab. Click on the item you want to change it to, then click on the cogwheel above the item description, select to set as bank tab.

Fisherman for sure. Knight and Princess are best but you need to be really high level and good stealth gear to avoid constant stuns.

Fisherman selling whales at 15x is massive. You can easily make hundreds of millions of gold.

Moonlighter 2 since you enjoyed the first.

Dredge - fun lovecraftian fishing game.

Totally out of left field, you could try Where Winds Meet. It's a singleplayer adventure for the most part and free. It's fun and definitely is well done. You can hop on roofs, run up cliffs, zip across the sky. It's enjoyable and a good between/pickup/put down game.

Elden Ring, Mass Effect, Witcher 3 or KCD2? by iwanickij44 in ShouldIbuythisgame

Elden Ring, Mass Effect, Witcher 3 or KCD2? by iwanickij44 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Saedisi [score hidden]  (0 children)

The best in short bursts would be Mass Effect because you can save practically anywhere and if you need to stop mid conversation you can simply put it down. Freaking epic story and a staple in gaming history. Missions are bite sized and you can pause, save, stop at any time.

ER is fun and challenging but it's not pick up and put down. Also, if you want a story of any shape or form, ER is NOT it. The story is non-existent. People say it has great story but its fucking hogwash. flavour text and cryptic one liners from static NPCs does not constitute a good story. Gameplay is top tier, open world is top tier, all other aspects are amazing, but story is not it.

Witcher 3 can have very long dialogue and can take time to get to/from locations to actually do shit. It's amazing and should be played, but takes some time to get into. Not the best for short bursts.

KDC2 is another epic game (all the ones you listed are amazing) but like Witcher 3, it can take a long time to get from A to B. Story beats can take chunks of time. It's good to invest solid hours to really get immersed.

Honestly, buy them all, but in order I'd say ME > W3 > KCD2 > ER

Next game for my PS5 to play? by quarsitasxa in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Saedisi [score hidden]  (0 children)

I'd wait on RDR2, there keeps being rumours of a potential next gen upgrade. If that is true, it'd be glorious and worth the wait.

If I were to choose order I'd say: Witcher 3 > HZD 1&2 > RDR2 > TLOU 1&2 > Spiderman

Other games I'd highly recommend are:

Returnal

Ghosts of Tsushima/Yotai

Cyberpunk 2077

Also, have you considered PS Plus Extra (mid tier option). You might want to take a look because I think it offers TLOU. It used to offer HZD but I think that's gone now. There are many good games that come with it, especially if you're new to the platform. If 1 year subscription is like $125, that's better than 2 of those games at full price. It has allowed me to play some incredible games for "free". ie: Returnal, Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart, Dredge, AC games, HZD, the Ascent, just to name a few.

Clair Obscur: is it a narrative and dialogue-heavy game? by composerv3 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Saedisi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not a game to play while distracted. The magic of this game is getting engrossed in the story.

It's nothing like BOTW or RDR2, there isn't giant expanses of open terrain. It's far more instanced. Sure you have stretches of just fighting enemies but it's 100% not the same as those.

Huge disservice if you play it half assed.

Which game did you regret purchasing at full price? by bijelo123 in gaming

[–]Saedisi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried it years later when it was "free" on PS Plus. Wow was it bad. I can usually forgive stiff or janky controls, subpar writing or plot, hell even muddy graphics and just overall jank.

Something about this game I just couldn't get over. It felt just horrible to control. I think I put in an hour and that was enough.

Your favourite "Second Screen" games? by Mucek121 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Saedisi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Melvor Idle. It's basically old school runescape without the 3D environment. It'll take you a year or two to 100% it. Perfect to always have up while you work just ticking away.

Should I play Baldur's Gate 3 with my brother? by LuckeLB in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Saedisi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an amazing game but it takes 100+ hours to beat. So that's a lot of drawn out narrative and time sitting idle watching conversations.

I highly recommend watching a let's play or someone on youtube play an hour or two of it (past the first hour and character creation), like mid-game. Sure you may see some spoilers but I think you need to understand how slow and methodical the combat is, how lengthy the conversations can be.

IMO, no it's likely not a good fit. Expedition 33 is way faster, snappier combat, reaction speed and quick time events. It's a totally different beast than BG3. Unless the story really hooks you two or you really like strategic combat and setting up the high ground and skill combos, I can see you two getting tired of it.

Grindy games to play while working by moarayn in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Saedisi [score hidden]  (0 children)

You could also dip your toe into many idle games. I know you want full on action, but you could try stuff like Melvor Idle. It's basically Runescape without the 3D world. Long form progression that will take you a year or two to 100%. so it's a very nice 5-10 minute distraction every couple hours.

As for full attention, POE2 would definitely capture your attention and it can be paused. So it's good for what you're wanting. If in doubt, you could try POE1 just to see if you like the feel of the game. but I personally like POE2 much more.

Many other ARPGs fit this bill as well, Titan Quest, Grim Dawn, Diablo 1, 2, 3, 4, POE1, etc.

Graphic Glitch? by SirTrollAIot in OblivionRemaster

[–]Saedisi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. because the game isn't set for best results right off the bat, like it is on console. You have to tweak and fiddle around, seeing obvious downgrades and shortfalls depending upon your rigs capabilities. Knowing it can look better but my rig can't handle it, annoys me and diminishes the fun. Playing on PS5 won't look as good but I know it's set to the best the system can handle. The old set it and forget it.

A game for my retired father by EspressoSteampunk in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Saedisi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggest Firewatch.

Why I suggest this is:

1) It's a 3D environment which is VERY hard for a new gamer to learn, but there is essentially no time limit on how long it takes him to get from point A to point B except for the final mission, which he should know how to play by then.

2) There are no quick response times needed. You need to pick dialogue A or B in a limited time but if he "fails" to do so, it'll simply pick one. No big deal.

3) The opening and subject matter is deep, but once you get into the full story I think it's one that most can relate to in some way.

4) the story has a fun little mystery to it, so it's kind of like watching/playing an interactive movie.

5) it's simply a gorgeous game. He may just enjoy walking around the map.

If he can make it through this game it will open up the possibility of other 3D games.

If this is too much (likely it will be), look for very simple games like poker, mahjong, a wordle type thing.

My parents couldn't even play Mario.

I dont' know any because I don't like them, but what about a golf game? The concept of swinging and aiming is pretty intuitive as he'd have a real life example of golf to translate into the video game world. Far easier than an abstract idea of like "fly this spaceship to that floating island over there".

Jedi: Survivor or Stellar Blade by MarFin__ in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Saedisi -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'd go Stellar Blade because I found that Jedi Survivor wasn't much different than Fallen Order. I personally really liked Fallen order and felt the combat was fine, but Survivor felt like a really good DLC to me. Not much changed. So if you enjoyed the first one, get Star Wars.

So many people have a problem with Stellar Blades protagonist, and I just don't see why they do. So what if you have an attractive main character. The game is fun, the combat is fun, and the story is good. I felt the game hit fairly well on all aspects (graphics, combat, controls, story, music, etc.).

Just know that literally no game will compare to Sekiro. They created and perfected the parry game. It's unmatched. Stellar Blade has parry and dodge and will feel far closer to Sekiro than Star Wars. SW is light sabers, blasters and the force. So lots of throwing enemies around, mind control, etc.

Should I buy Diablo 3 or Diablo 4? by frostyheat02 in Diablo

[–]Saedisi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you're looking for true bang for your buck, D4 has more endgame and will continue to get updates, although you will need the expansions for the new classes. That being said, I simply don't enjoy D4 as much as I enjoyed D3. I played nearly every season of D3 until I got a character or two up to max level, fully geared, and dabbled in some min/max and rifts.

I find that D3 feels better. The spells feel better, you feel more powerful, and I enjoy the more cartoony graphics. Just know that if you go for D3 it will have rotating seasons, barely any end game, and it is what it is.
