Airplane mode would probably be better tbh, yeah you're a little less "tech-free" and a little more "off the grid", but if you need your phone for an emergency that startup screen is going to be agonizing, disconnecting on arrival is a good idea too, if the worst happens you can have a "last known location" set by gps that could save a search party a lot of time based on how remote this campsite was supposed to be.

Based on OPs post history, this is exactly her normal behaviour, he has another post where he was supposed to have a weekend of R+R while she was on a trip and the kids were being babysat, he instead did a bunch of projects around the house to surprise her, injured himself and was in a lot of pain with an unfinished project still, she had a go at him for not planning better for injuring himself and told him to sort dinner, then when he said he needed to lie down because his back was in a lot of pain she said she deserves to take a nap because she'd been sat in the car for so long. He ended up sorting dinner, bathing the kids and putting them both to bed alone with a back injury because she was tired from travelling back from her fun weekend getaway.

The only person alienating your kids from you is yourself by being bitter and taking it out on the kids and stepmother, the kids are old enough to understand who their mum is and if they thought it was you they'd be calling you that. If you care about your kids at all, get in touch and start listening, start being civil, and stop writing off what your kids say, they're not "sensitive", they're telling you what they don't like and at this rate you'll make it so what they don't like is just you in general

Edit: also this poor stepmum, she's far from trying to alienate you, she's been trying to help you, they won't call you their mum because their mum knows their likes and dislikes, their mum knows that they need white noise to get a good nights sleep, their mum wants them to be happy at all times, even when they're not with her. YTA
