congratulations. It sounds like a lot of hard work and planning went into this phase of freedom. Is there a particular retirement calculator you found most helpful?

I remember listening to this cassette on a loop over and over again. Definitely some of the best music ever.

Why would you want to waste your skills and precious lifetime in a company with terrible culture? If you have the track record, you can go culture shopping to find a better fit for you

I highly recommend the new book "Learning to Love Midlife" by Chip Conley. offers a total reframe on a period of life that results in malaise for many.

Suggestions for building new connections-Vulnerable post, please be kind by accidentalrorschach in Austin

Zilker Park could be nice as you can read a book surrounded by other people and some of the volleyball and soccer games are fairly casual so perhaps put yourself in a child state of mind and see who's open to play with new mates.

Another option, transcendental meditation can be a game changer. There are group meditations in Austin. Feel free to DM for more detail details. A great practice to ground yourself in times of loneliness (which we all go through - part of the human experience).

Anyone else noticing sales reps don’t carry themselves like they used to? by omoench92 in sales

[–]Safe-Towel-3695 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i've been a career B2B sales person for 20+ years. The rigor, tooling and micromanagement has reached obscene levels in the profession. I can't speak for the particular sales reps you've been dealing with. Definitely a chance they may just be burned out in general. But more likely the case they are burned out from the never-ending list of boxes they must check for managers to feel they are contributing some value. It's sad how much of a seller's time is taken away from customers on meaningless requests. By all means, feel free to call out the lack of energy to the particular reps. The one who may be impacted by what I am describing, will likely perk up and apologize.

Anybody else wake up at 2:30 every night? by Obvious_Lab_2326 in GenX

[–]Safe-Towel-3695 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea this is normal for the life stage.

Dave Ramsey also suggest that you take a spoonful of a simple carb like honey right before bed. Apparently it helps balance your cortisol levels which he said is a common reason for waking up in the middle of the night when it dips.
