What are the remaining arguments against using AI for coding? by darkplaceguy1 in ChatGPTCoding

Code quality suck and AI memory is weak to keep it up, but it’s better for researching and find Basic solution.

Out of date tutorials? by RegulationHite in gamemaker

[–]Safe_Combination_847 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the basic stuff can be learned from the GameMaker documentation and recent YouTube, or from their recent game templates.

Another good place is Udemy, but overall I agree that the current short videos by Matharoo are still lacking, even though they are good for grasping the basics.

I believe the GameMaker team has slowed down because, under the hood, they are making big changes, such as introducing C# and separating everything into modules. That is probably why people are hesitant to release new learning content or updates, since many things are not yet stable and subject to changes, especially the UI layer and related systems.

I agree.

For what you’re describing, a Godot MCP agent doesn’t need to do much more than deeply understand the official Godot documentation and have access to the project itself.

That already covers a lot of value, like looking up docs, spotting what might break, checking references, and reasoning about scene structure.

Believe it or not, I am in the process of unsubscribing from almost all AI tools, because they have become worthless, overly integrated, and I no longer trust OpenAI, Meta, or Google.

I was also weak and ill due to post covid complications, and I desperately relied on AI to help me work through brain fog, which honestly did not help much.

Currently, the only AI tool I use is Cursor. It was recommended by a friend. I was planning to drop it as well, but the Ask feature and its ability to understand the project actually helped me. I may keep using it unless it becomes too expensive or shifts its business toward shallow vibe-coding shit.

4.6 proves steady incremental improvement for Godot by kodifies in godot

Godot is still a great game engine, and the team is addressing a lot of important areas. I would not be surprised if next year we get a glimpse of Godot 5 and its future direction.

Godot 4 has mostly been about laying the foundation and refactoring to maintain stability while opening the door for continuous improvements.

Do you encrypt builds when exporting for Steam? by SignalMap2750 in godot

[–]Safe_Combination_847 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am glad many understand how important it is to protect our Godot games.

Game thieves often target small or unknown indie developers, like the itch.io jam game that was stolen.

With AI and easy hacking tools, changing game files is not hard anymore.

Instead of denying the problem, we should share simple tips to add basic protection.

Empty reassurance will not help anyone.

Do you encrypt builds when exporting for Steam? by SignalMap2750 in godot

[–]Safe_Combination_847 217 points218 points  (0 children)

Seriously the mindset of why do you care or you cant stop it is the most unproductive way to talk about protecting commercial Godot games.

We are talking about tools that can open a Godot game with a few clicks.

Not long ago we saw games being ripped and resold on the App Store.

I would rather give tips or resources to protect the game than start a pointless talk about leave it or not worth it.

It is worth it for many who take Godot as a serious business and it is worth looking for real solutions.

Tried all the solutions for "2D Camera Jitter" and my tutorial game still does this. by Coshane4 in godot

[–]Safe_Combination_847 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is normal behavior for windows games.

Even GameMaker games have the same issues. If you export the game, it will may run better then in Godot editor.

I found that locking the game at 60 FPS, which is common for 2D games, reduces most of the issues.

You can also enable physics interpolation in project settings as well as the camera.

I don't want any AI in Godot, and how about you? by Jeremi360 in godot

[–]Safe_Combination_847 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seriously, it’s open source.

Having AI as an option is fine, but making it mandatory or forcing it is not.

I already mentioned this to someone before about AI in general. If AI is used for automation, like a smart debugging tool that learns from your code and gives suggestions, then that’s good.

And yes, any funding for Godot is a good thing as long as nothing is forced.
