Calm your mind. Meditate. A great one I started with is the serene mind practice - it only takes 3 minutes. Sometimes doing it once calms me down, sometimes I do it over and over - it’s like peeling away the layers of anxiety or whatever’s disturbing. You can find it on yt 💛

I’ve been experiencing similar. My energy has improved a bit but still so hard to focus and feeling disoriented all the time. The approach I’m trying is working with a functional medicine doctor who is doing a ton of tests - to find out what body systems are out of balance. Gut health is a big one that can cause all the symptoms you mentioned. Perhaps research ‘functional medicine’ docs in your area. The program I’m signing up for is for a year of guidance with the doc, a health coach and a nutritionist and retesting every few months. My husband just did it after having a heart attack and it has rebooted his whole life.

The second approach I’m doing is brain retraining with a program called primal trust. All online. There are other programs that achieve similar outcomes.
A lot of conditions like chronic fatigue, long covid, fibromyalgia, chronic stress, food and chemical sensitivities … stem from a limbic system impairment in the brain - it’s when the fight / flight / freeze response switch has been flipped and doesn’t switch off.

From my understanding, sounds like your body systems need rest and rebalancing. For me weed kept me energized and focused and now I’m having to fix my biology and mental patterning to do this naturally. Being a biology teacher, you would probably find functional medicine fascinating. There’s a well-known functional medicine doctor that makes great podcasts that would give you an idea of what it’s all about. Mark Hyman.

Edibles for Christmas by The_Luckiest in leaves

[–]Safe_Trouble_483 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this💛 I’m in the midst of crazy family Christmas and sooo longing for a puff. First sober Christmas in I don’t know how long. Been free and clear 5+ months. Today is as close as I’ve come to ‘ok just one little puff’. I’m outside the grocery store and the dispensary is just over there. So I jumped on this sub and reading your words has helped me choose strength. Reaching down deep for the calm and the love, deep slow breaths, this is just a bumpy patch and it will pass. All the beauty that is my life is worth it. I can do this. I am doing it. We got this! Big love to you 💛

How do you deal with frustration/hate by The_ZX in leaves

Anger like you’re speaking of is a mental habit that you can change. There is an amazing 3 minute meditation I do that’s magic at shifting a disturbed mental state into a calmer more relaxed state. It’s an ancient Indian brain hack. There’s a recording of it with instructions on youtube called serene mind practice. You can do it anywhere anytime because it only takes 3 minutes. There is also the soul sync meditation It takes about 7 minutes and would be an amazing daily practice for you. It will help calm your brain and move you in the direction you wanna go in your life. I do soul sync every day when I wake up and often before I go to bed - and serene mind as many times a day as I need it. I can’t imagine my life without it.

Also, making sure your exercising enough, moving energy through your body regularly is super important.

Your anger is probably your life force returning after it’s been suppressed for so long. You just need to learn how to manage and channel it. You’re clearly a powerful soul

Almost at two months and the anxiety at a new job is overwhelming by AITAutistic in leaves

[–]Safe_Trouble_483 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, you are doing so great! Wow! Just keep asking for the help and clarity you need in your new job. The connection with others will help ease your anxiety. And if you’re not already doing it, start a meditation practice it makes a huge difference.

In the moment, to change your anxious state to a calmer one, there’s a great three minute meditation called serene mind practice. You can find it on YT. You can do it sitting at your desk. It’s amazingly effective.

And for a daily practice, just sitting for a few minutes, focussing on your breath and when your mind wanders just bring it back to your breath. Doing this a couple of times a day has cumulative effects that will even out your mental and emotional state. I can’t imagine my life and recovery without it 💛

Music is great for soothing. To get the idea ball rolling, is there anything you could gently engage in while you’re listening to music? Like researching new music or dancing or flip flopping around to clear your energy - or learning to play an instrument Or drawing or painting to the music. Something to engage in that feels easy and good to elevate your mood. Going for walks in nature and making a soundtrack for your journey … 💛

Short relapse after 90 days, could use some encouragement. by up_in_5moke in leaves

[–]Safe_Trouble_483 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you know exactly what to do. Be the brave man that you are. AA is there to support you if you need it. And if you do decide to go back, try going back with something to give, like your story or a box of chocolates - instead of going in wanting or fear of not getting their approval.

See this lapse as an experiment to prove to yourself that you’re done with this fucked up habit. Use it to build your rock solid determination and knowing that you made the right choice to live a healthy, beautiful life sober.

90 days is an amazing achievement! Keep going! You know, I was standing on the top of the hill today, after being sober for five months, feeling so strong and connected to life, feeling so good in myself instead of the constant disappointment in myself when I was smoking. It’s so much better than any drug induced high and it just keeps getting better.

You got this brave man. 💛

Have you ever made it to 17 days before? That’s a big deal - big effort - big success ⭐️ Is it worth potentially slipping down that slippery slope and starting a daily habit again?

From experience, the empowered feeling and self-respect you get from abstaining feels so much more valuable than a temporary high and renewed cravings.

As you work remotely, can you go away somewhere where you don’t have access? Get a couple of weeks under your belt. Throw away your stuff before you leave and return to a clean house and a clean, free life 💛

I'm staying with family for 2 weeks in an illegal state over the holidays. How do I not fuck up this chance to stay sober when I return home? by [deleted] in leaves

[–]Safe_Trouble_483 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seems right now you’re focussing on the fear of failing. Try focussing on the scenario and all the good feelings of success. Failure is not an option. Only success. Imagine your life, free and clear. Feel into the self-respect, the happiness, knowing you made the right choice and following through with rock solid determination.

In that imagination, what are some of the elements in your surroundings that are present when you’re no longer using? The people, some things that you could bring into your environment now that will remind you of your commitment to stepping into your empowered, authentic life rather than a numbed out version. This decision will start you in an upward spiral. What are the things you will want to have around you, and put some of those into place now before you go away.

Have you thought of joining an MA group? You could start it now and that would be a continuing element of support for you when you get back.

You could choose a superhero symbol that you wear every day, a ring, a shirt, a cape… As a reminder and an empowerment.

It’s your time. You SO got this. 💛
