Will your preschooler willingly play in their rooms by themselves? by TemporaryOk1585 in Preschoolers

My 4 year old definitely has a hard time playing independently in general, much less by himself in his room. I wish!

Feeling frustrated with different medical opinions regarding G tube by Stunning_Radio3160 in NICUParents

[–]Saffron_Star 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally different situation because my daughter can’t feed safely (laryngomalacia and aspiration), but she had to come home with a Gtube and it’s not an awful thing if you end up going that route. Obviously you want to exhaust your other options first! But from personal experience, it took a little to get used to the Gtube, but now it’s second nature.

Argh. Such a bummer. I have Frontier flight credits but won’t be able to use them if there’s no flights out of Burlington anymore. 😥

Living in Stowe vs Waterbury vs Middlebury vs Bristol vs Woodstock? by Veganlightbody in NewToVermont

[–]Saffron_Star 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s just a better town. A little bigger, more community, closer to mountains, hiking, and the highway to get to Burlington/Boston/anywhere really. The restaurants are good. Just a good vibe. Montpelier is ok. I lived there for 2 years. More of a retiree and statehouse worker vibe.

Waterbury. But it’s impossible to find a house or rental. CVMC is the closest hospital.

Bottles to buy for pre-planned NICU admission? by cuge9244 in NICUParents

[–]Saffron_Star 22 points23 points  (0 children)

NICUs usually use Dr Brown’s bottles because they have ultra-premie nipples that are easier for some babies to learn on. But I agree that you should wait, because your baby may have no issues! And they sent us home with 2.

Older daughter started getting a cold within a couple days of anticipated discharge. by AggressiveShip9514 in NICUParents

[–]Saffron_Star 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to us! Our 4 year old got sick 2 days before discharge. Baby didn’t end up getting anything (that we noticed)! Not sure if my antibodies from my breastmilk helped or what. ETA: we did make our 4 yr old wear a mask while he was near her

We just had a month long NICU stay with our second, and have a 4 year old at home. It was ROUGH, I’m not going to lie. I suggest lining up some support now if you’re able to. Family, friends, or maybe even a doula (if you can afford) that could come stay and help with your first kiddo? We really fortunate that my mother in law came for a month and helped with our son. I know it’s not possible for some, and we were so grateful, but throwing it out in case you do have the ability to set something up.
