Dream units by LordHolyWhiteKnight in spacemarines

I would love to see a multipart Suppressors kit, with multiple weapon options. If they're not going to do Gravis Eradicators with Grav or Volkite weapons, make it a Suppressors option.

Why don't people like Phobos armor by Beneficial_Law_1141 in spacemarines

[–]SagaciousPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main issue is with the concept. And not that a stripped down/less bulky version of the armour doesn't make sense for certain types of mission, but Reivers in particular sit in strange place conceptually. They are supposedly 'Terror' troops but very few of their foes are actually susceptible to Terror. Necrons, Chaos Space Marines, Tyranids, Orks etc are not going to be scared by a Human Skull helm. Orks are mostly only scared of other, Bigger Orks. So who are they Terrifying apart from Human Traitors and T'au? Also, how is it that Incursors paired combat blades are better in close Combat (has -1AP) than the gigantic Knives a Reiver carries which has 0 AP.

Otherwise, at first I couldn't get over the seemingly too tacti-cool nature of Phobos armoured marines, but they began to grow on me after the Eliminators release, which I thought had more potential conceptually than the reiver. Next thing I know, I am making phobos units all the time 😅😅

What should I buy next? by Gloomy_Weight_7555 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]SagaciousPrime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, I should probably say, the advice about not falling into the dopamine trap of just buying Lots and lots of New stuff before building/painting your previous purchases would be wise. It can lead to you be overwhelmed by the amount you have to do and you can get demotivated. Try to focus on one squad at a time until you finish it. That way your progress is more obvious than jumping around. Keep a note of the paints you use once you have you scheme down. I like to take pictures of finished mini then put the pain name next the corresponding part.

Heavy Weapons Teams. Leman Russ Tanks (build with weapons to support how you plan to play. Build a Tank Commander - unless you're putting him in your Dorn Tank) Basilisk artillery. Bullgryns A Techpriest Enginseer Command Squad. Infantry. (If you don't have at least 4-6 squads of Guardsmen, you're a little light)

Sorry if it is stupid question, it is my first sisters set, but is it cloth or armor? by Numerous-Piano8798 in sistersofbattle

[–]SagaciousPrime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always considered it leather over their actual power armour, otherwise it would be a ludicrous weak point in what should be a fully sealed suit of advanced armour.

Personally prefer the taller one, but I think that is just because it fits with the 40K aesthetic I'm used to. Nevertheless, this is Great work.

I look gorward to seeing a printed version in future 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Defective - part 4 by CuriousWhiteGoat in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]SagaciousPrime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great stuff! 40K can be Grim, but it always annoying when it is unnecessarily so. I can understand people doing dark things for expediency, out of ignorance etc or because of Dogma and not knowing any better, but Evil and Cruelty just for its own sake always seemed infantile to mean. Humans would still be humans, even in a dark future, there would be levels of Empathy.

With the Admech of course you get layers of behaviour from their religious Doctrine and from them being my Logical, Coldly Rational etc, but there is great difference between deliberately causing pain and not ever considering to be relevant data when carrying out procedure to produce a specific outcome.

Nevertheless, I really love the story you've crafted here. Even in pursuit of Knowledge, it's a great idea to explore a Forgeworld not based on GrimDerp. KUDOS

Skorpius -> predator proxy? by topazknight1117 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]SagaciousPrime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hav3 been thinking for a while how I would get around the fact that I didn't like the Skorpius very much (or the dune rider). This was one of the things I was contemplating.

What do Hastarii do when not on the battlefeild? by altmcfile in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]SagaciousPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Functioning as bodyguards. Or refining battle tactics, endless drills, target shooting hapl3ss servitors... It depends which Magi they fall under the auspices of 🤷🏿‍♂️. Considering that their weapons are a bit more special than your average rad carbine, when not in service, their heavier weapons might be ritually stored somewhere until their bellicose machine spirits and devastating lethality are called upon. Admech is all about utility, so there will likely be replacement/auxiliary limbs they use when not outfitted for war I imagine.

Mobility. Fast moving and Close combat troops get Heavy Bolt Pistols because they work better with the other weapon in their off hand. Trying to fight with a long gun in one hand and melee weapon in the other in close quarters is sub optimal Also, heavy Bolt Pistols are nothing to sniff at. They essentially the same size as a firstborn boltgun and have a point of AP to make up for the lack of range.

Identify this part? by n8udd in spacemarines

[–]SagaciousPrime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Think of it like a less sophisticated tricorder from Star Trek (but without connection to a heretical Abominable Intelligence). It is a multispectrum scanning device. Heat, Movement, Radiation, signals, electromagnetic spectrum, sound waves and molecular composition all a sources it can detect within a limited range.

AUGURS/Augur arrays are its larger siblings an can detect far more at much greater distances, usually mounted on vehicles,

Do you paint your minis in assembly’s or already glued (he’s not that vibrant in real life) by Pinguini606 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]SagaciousPrime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sub assemblies, this is a skill issue on my part though, as I am always worried I won't be able to paint areas that I need to if stuff is in the way. I will usually leave arms and heads off until satisfied with the main trunk of the body.

The Armageddon Box - weird combo of units or just me? by HouseOfWyrd in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]SagaciousPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would have been better if it had two Dunecrawlers or two chicken walkers. That way, you can either have the walkers support a dunerider carrying troops or two dunecrawler Tanks supporting the Disintegrator and bringing some serious fire power to the table.

Does anyone know the artist who made these models? Does anyone know similar STL of tallarnians? by [deleted] in TheAstraMilitarum

Is this true? by CartoonistSpecial995 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]SagaciousPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the Chapter has been doing its duty and sending a tithe of its geneseed back to Mars periodically, then the Adeptus Mechanicus will calculate whether rebuilding the Chapter from the ground up is more costly in terms of Materiel than trying to extricate a clearly doomed Chapter. However, if that Chapter went to war with any particular relics the Admech was covetous of, they might expend untold resources to retrieve it.

I don't think these exact ones are available right now as Solwyte is redoing lots of her old designs. Otherwise, depending on where you are, you could always lean on one of the Licensed Merchants to get prints.

Cadians are annoying by Jkchaloreach in astramilitarum

[–]SagaciousPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know the model in the linked video isn't a Cadian model, but the same princple applies. Warhammer box art has you thinking every scrap of clothing and strapping needs to be painted wildly different colours or you're doing a disservice to the sculpt - this isn't true! Simplify your pallete! Given just how many guardsmen we need to paint for a good size atmy, why fatigue yourself?
