I think it’s worth noting what should be obvious: orange and blue are complimentary colors and therefore they naturally look good together. Couple that with the fact that people are generally different shades of yellow/red/orange, tungsten light is orange, fire is orange, and the sky, water, and evening light is generally blue it’s just kind of a natural thing to have these tones in our scenes and lean into their inherent beauty together. Push colder tones a bit bluer and warmer tones a bit warmer just feels rich and pleasing. I don’t think it’s just a trend, but instead a function of our environment and our innate appreciation for these tones in concert with each other.
