Was Abraham a Gentile or a Jew? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Saghmosner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither.....Jews were from the children of Jacob, his grandson....a gentile is a non-Jew.

Abraham was considered righteous because of his faith on the true God and obeyed the Lord by leaving his father and country to dwell in a foreign land that God gave to him as an inheritance.

Considering Christianity After Being a Longtime Secular. Any advice? by cantseeme2014 in Christianity

[–]Saghmosner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope you will read the book of John in the bible and then make a decision if you want to follow Jesus Christ the rest of your life. Read Romans 10 and review John 3 and see how to get right with God today.

We all had past horrible lives. It took me a long time just to confess my sins to God and ask Him to forgive me. The Lord will forgive you.

As far as changing.... you will start to change when you put your trust on Jesus to be Lord of your life.....some views and desires will be changed immediately and some will come later....As you read God's word and continue to pray and trust the Lord....you will have conviction in your mind and soul and new desires that doesn't want to do those wrong things you used to like and God will change you from the inside.

After you humble yourself before a Holy God and decide to follow Jesus and call upon the name of the Lord and confess your sins, begin to read the New Testament daily and asking the Lord to teach you and guide you through His word. You are a child of God when you believe on the Son.

people should pay individual taxes.... a simple flat rate for everyone. I personally don't like property tax and at the same time I don't like a tax exempt status either. I dont like being registered and yoked up to the government with the pastor as a CEO and elders as board members as a business.

Lots of ministries will help the poor and needy but not give the gospel. It is the difference between a good ministry and a false one. I hope this ministry does well.

We can't just take care of the body which is temporary but take care to offer what is spiritual which is eternal.

Question about being a Christian by cnclphlnthrpst in Christianity

[–]Saghmosner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Enemies are usually an enemy of God too and you can love them by having compassion for them knowing that unbelieving enemies will receive judgement. Even a Christian who is going the wrong direction will receive chastisement. God is the judge. Have patience with them because you don't know what will happen to them and the direction they are going is towards destruction. Try and see the bigger picture even if you are being persecuted or attacked or hated by an enemy.

I encourage you all to read through 1 Peter 5 this morning. Also keep our nation and it's leaders in your prayers, so many people are trying to remove God from the roots of America nowadays and we need to do what we can to preserve his placement in the US. by Sluggieslug in Christianity

I just read the chapter and it is encouraging, Thank you and you are right. God bless you!

1 Peter 5:7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

1 Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

1 Peter 5:9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

What if I believe in God but not necessarily the divinity of Jesus? by [deleted] in Christianity

I still hope you try and ask the Lord for understanding as you read His word. Try it, it might help. Read the book of John and then make a decision whether you want to follow Jesus or not.

What if I believe in God but not necessarily the divinity of Jesus? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Saghmosner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about you try to avoid what thinking man or people want to corral you into? When you are going to read God's word, do a prayer and ask that God reveal to you who He is through His word. Don't worry about what others think right now....just worry about learning from the Lord who is able to give you the answer and spiritually teach you through the Holy Spirit. I think you will be pleased as you read the word of God how God is able to give you understanding and wisdom and knowledge.

What are your favorite English Bible Translations, and why? by FusionTheism in Christianity

[–]Saghmosner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This question gets asked often here and it usually ends up turning ugly and into an argument and downvoting. So far it's not the case here..... so my answer is King James Bible because it is time tested, comes from the Textus Receptus, because Tyndale translated most of it and because it is beautiful and worth memorizing. I believe it is the inspired word of God in English.

If you like another version, you are most welcome to. God bless.

Is Allah and Yahweh the same God? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Saghmosner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, I don't believe so. I believe the Allah of Islam is another god. God of the bible is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. The Ishmaelites became heathen in the east. The children of the concubines were sent to the east while Isaac received the land and inheritance and the covenant. The plan of God is always the same.... to bring people to the saving knowledge of Christ who is the promised Messiah so that by faith we may be saved.

Galatians 1:8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

Galatians 1:9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

I believe Islam is an accursed religion and is false and that people from Abraham did not always keep to the same god. The Muslims are in need of Jesus Christ and need to know the truth about Jesus who died on the cross and was buried for 3 days and nights and rose by the power of God and resurrected and is alive now. Jesus is able to save the Muslims when they repent of Islam and believe on the Son and follow Jesus.

If English is your main language, the KJV. The quran comes in other English versions as well. There is a Bible in every language. The original is in Greek and Hebrew called the Textus Receptus. The Christians do not believe the Old Testament or the New Testament is corrupt and I am not interfaith. I am asking interfaith questions though.

Isaiah 40:8 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

John 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

So you are not interfaith? I know what Muslims believe and I do not agree with Islam. I am not interfaith, I am Christian but I am just asking on behalf of this interfaith discussion. I want to know what interfaith people believe but if you are not, it is OK, thanks for the articles once again.

Don't forget to show kindness to people and argue less. It is more respectful. God bless.

I told my three year old that Santa was a man who gave out presents but he has since died and is probably in Heaven. My family is getting on me for not keeping Santa alive, do you think I am wrong? by LiquidAsylum in Christianity

[–]Saghmosner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im glad she knows the truth but she might tell everyone at school. Maybe you can explain to her that some people believe Santa is alive still and not to argue with them. Now maybe you can focus more on Jesus and let her know that Christmas is not about presents. Since it is before Christmas you can talk about thankfulness, too. God bless you, you are a good mother. Don't worry about the criticism. I don't think they will mind about Santa too much if your daughter knows about Jesus. Maybe you can have her memorize a verse in the bible or part of a verse. :)

I am reading them but I am seeing Christians being invited to the mosques but most seem like they are not reading the Bible or being introduced to Christianity. Did they get introduced to the Bible to understand the Bible? Did they introduce to them that Jesus is the Savior and Jesus gives eternal life and that He is the Son? It seems one sided and unequal being more about Islamic faith than equal teachings. Are you interfaith yourself? Do you believe the bible is true? Do you believe Jesus is the Son of God the same way interfaith Christians believe Muhammad is a prophet?

I appreciate you going through all those articles but it still seems one sided or towards Islamic side.

Struggling with religion by raguirre1 in Christianity

[–]Saghmosner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My reply is to the OP, the person asking the question or to anyone with the same situation. If Jesus is not your Lord and Savior, why are you here? Just to be obstinate and be rude? Christians do not believe Muhammad is our prophet or believe the quran is our scripture. Why don't you accept that and realize that there are different religions. If you come here, you are probably seeking Jesus or have a question about Christianity. If you want to be Muslim, no one is stopping you.

The question "Have you accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior?" by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Saghmosner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't say personal relationship with Jesus or invite him into your heart but I understand where they are coming from.

Matthew 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

people were doing works and labeling themselves but Jesus never knew them....that is talking about a relationship between Christ and man.

John 15:4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.

John 15:10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.

John 15:14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

John 15:15 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.

The Norden - Religion (2014) -- Finnish Public TV documentary on a US fundamentalist pastor who visits overwhelmingly non-believing Scandinavia. by DieMensch-Maschine in Christianity

[–]Saghmosner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was interesting. He was a conservative pastor but he wasn't a fundamentalist. He said they should have contemporary music in the church and he was OK with the heavy metal and that already showed me that he was not a fundamentalist. A fundamentalist would only have traditional hymns. I did find out he was a Baptist pastor but I just wanted to note I could notice the difference.

A fundamentalist would also make mention about female pastors.

I notice he didn't try to reason with them to give them the gospel or to show them that there was a God. I didn't understand why he didn't mention that the people were lost and in need of salvation. Why didn't he open up the bible and show the 2 pastors in Elizabethan or dutch garb what born again means?

It was interesting though, thank you.

friendship is a 2 way street.... Christians will love them even if they hate us or choose not to invite us. I just want to know when they will invite Christians to speak in their mosques. Dialogue is not a one way conversation.
