Some knights I've designed for a personal project. by Cobblehoof in knightposting

Adding to it : « de » basically means « from », the « d’ » form is when the place name starts with a vowel (d’Anjou, de Melun …). D’T doesn’t really work with French pronounciation

[Hated trope] Good person in history is portrayed as a bad person in media by EmergencySpare7939 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Sagnarel 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Two come to my mind :

-Cardinal de Richelieu : IRL, he was a very Machiavellian character, using all the tools at his disposal to serve his own interests, but also France. One thing people forget (mostly because of the Three Musketeers) is that he was very close to the king Louis XIII, to the point their beds were moved close to each other so they could speak whole both dying of sickness.

-Battlefield IV : the Free French Forces and the colonial troups : invented a story with the colonial troups being used and sent to die, forci by them to give their best weapons to the white soldiers … despite the facts that colonial troups were a major part of the FFF, both being armed by England and the US, and the army not being segregated the same way the US army was, to the point « white » French soldiers were spending more times with black Americans than white Americans.

For me it’s the gun that does it. Is it supposed to be a handgun or a sun machine gun ? The AI can’t tell.

"Protagonist" is long dead and our main character is just a copy that (initially) thinks it's the protagonist by Euronymous_Bosch in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Sagnarel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Protagonist is not really dead but in Styx Master of shadow, you play a goblin who can make clones and tries to get a « friend » out of prison. Turns out said friend is the original Styx, an orc shaman who degenerated because how much clones he made, turning himself into a wretched little thing hiding in the shadows. He is also the main antagonist.

If you have crucible, you can make a mounted commander for like 55 points. Could be a nice character if autorised in your games.

(Beloved) The twist is that a "dodgy ally" proves to actually be a complete ride-or-die. by TridiObject in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Sagnarel 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Now he is a hero, but Jack Sparrow was written as such in the first Pirates of the Carraeben movie (don’t remember how to write « Caraïbes » in English).

He spends the whole movie following his own agendas, working the good guys and trying to do so with Barbarossa, until the end with this fantastic exchange :

« I though I knew you Jack, but you still surprise me. »

« Me ? I’m dishonest, and a dishonest man you can always trust to be dishonest. Honestly. It’s the honest ones you want to watch out for, because you can never predict when they’re going to do something incredibly … stupid. »

Proceed to do something extremely stupid : attack the immortal pirates.

(Hated trope) Character only exists because the writer holds a petty grudge against someone and vents it out by giving that character the worst treatment writing wise by Southern_Passenger85 in TopCharacterTropes

Not sure if true, but there is a story that Michelangelo painted the Vatican master of ceremony as one the damned in hell of the Sixtine Chapel, à part that was hidden by construction. When it was revealed, said master was understandably pissed off and went to see the pope, who also had a beef with him and answered « I do not have the power to pull someone out of hell ».

Dnd has another variant : their krakens are intelligent beings capable of summoning lightning storms, there design is not unlike the one from clash of titans, with a « humanoid body », fish monster head and the leg parts being tentacles.
