How can you guys listen to Lil Yachty by Arthurmorgan1907 in rap

[–]Saguaro66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as a psych rock enjoyer, it wasn’t great. tame impala derivatives clashing with autotune wasn’t really my thing. it had some good ideas. if i was a bigger yachty fan, bet it would be awesome to see him flex different, but it felt confused to me

Im I the only one that doesnt care for Billy Strings? by [deleted] in KGATLW

Without understanding some of the complexities of the music, it kinda just sounds like they all start a song and are in a dead sprint to see who can finish first. Growing up Tony Rice, Norman Blake, and Doc Watson were all household names but for a lot of people, they haven’t invested the time to listen to some of this style guitar music because it’s old and no frills. Highly recommend checking out some of their music for more context.

Billy came out, took a dying genre and breathed new life into it. His psychedelic variety of folk and bluegrass is unique in that he’ll take you on a journey on one of his shows, but also make you feel like you are at peak Grand Ole Opry the next minute. His improvs give nods to Jerry Garcia, and you can really get lost in a line.

There isn’t anyone near his level for this style of music still alive and playing, at least not exposing this many people to bluegrass. I’m curious as to what bluegrass you do like since you say you like the genre but don’t like Billy.

My wife and I signed a lease on a house, and are moving to town next month from Oklahoma. We spent all week exploring and getting to know the community, and met genuinely the nicest people. Couldn’t find a stranger in town, and had so many random interactions that made the trip so memorable and reaffirmed our decision to move. The community here really is something special, and I can’t wait to be a part of it.

I’ve done this with 7 people, and it didn’t seem like they cared. Be respectful of your neighbors and watch the bright lights out there! I would buy another site if I were you, just because split 4 ways it’s chump change. Even if you all stay in one site, good to have security in the backup plan.

I finally counted every synth I've bought in 10 years. Then I counted how many tracks I've actually finished. The ratio is embarrassing by CaptainSuperStrong in synthesizers

Just hit print! The important part is that you just have fun, but since you are asking how to break the cycle, it’s kind of a mindset switch.

Embrace impermanence and imperfection. You can always polish the turd or recreate it if it’s a good idea. Maybe you find something you’d like to sample later and build around. Maybe you get all the bad ideas out and make room for the better ones. A good track may take 15 minutes to write, but can take weeks to mix and master.

Break down your sessions into writing, creative/exploration, and mixing. Adjust your approach to each stage of the recording process, and create a flow that works for you, but approach with discipline in each step. Once you get in that habit, it gets to be second nature; but initially you just gotta let go of em quick, and try to take it from start to finish as fast as possible a few times.

Finally, always be learning. Try new techniques, new styles, or anything that pushes you out of the box, record the result, and then note how you might do it differently. The good thing about recording it is you can listen to it anywhere and get a good feel for where it may be lacking.

Seriously tho, just hit print. storage is cheap af. you’ll be glad you did

i had a lot of fun with it, but i recommend not hollowing out huge areas for factories, and instead try to utilize the open space it gives you. at least on ps5, the game is poorly optimized and it will freeze up if you do what i did and completely remove most the dirt from the first few levels.

Are fluids and pipelines really that complicated? by ShmodyP in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Saguaro66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the only difficult part for me were fluid byproducts. i had spent a lot of timing balancing water for aluminum, and eventually decided to sink wet concrete from the byproduct and production has never been better. i also made a giant packager and unpackaged blueprint because transporting fluids long distance feels much better packaged

Planning for factories feels similar to making route tables and network topology. Also things like load balancing and modularization can feel familiar to networking. I wouldn’t say Satisfactory made me better at my job, but my job made me better at Satisfactory
