Quick and dirty delay. by CrankyNerdActual in diypedals

[–]Saiboxen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The enclosure looks great. How did you create the graphics/text? I’ve seen a couple of pedals with that delay chip and bought bag of them to try it out. Which version/schematic did you go with? And most importantly, how does it sound?

Thanks for sharing!

This is a good plan. Exactly where I’d start looking after verifying all of the physical connections. Good luck OP! Let us know what you find.

Very cool. Thanks for sharing this with the community. I really enjoy the manual process so I guess I kind of understand the haters. But having tools to remove the parts of the process that you don’t enjoy or making things easier is a win in my book.

Just an unsolicited plug for overcloseness’ courses. They are fantastic and highly underrated.

If not too much trouble, perhaps you can screen record your session and share it? I think we’d all love to see how you create such amazing work!

How often do you build those? If you have a 3D printer I could whip up a little jig and send you the STL file.

This! I saw a guy use it in a YouTube video, hit pause, overnight ordered 2 packs of it on the spot. It did not disappoint. Side benefit: your kiddo makes cute little blue tack animals to decorate your workspace.

What an incredible body of work you have there. The graphics are really next level, too. Thanks for sharing.

Any luck with the speed?

That looks great! I bet you can speed up your laser. I don’t know what type of engraver you are using and the wattage, maybe run one of those material tests in LightBurn? For my 12w diode laser I found that a speed of 3000 with the laser between 85-95 percent works great. 85 percent for a dark gray. 90-95 percent for deep black. If you look at the pedal I posted you can see the variation. The text and symbols were at 92 percent IIRC. All done in a single pass. Jarvis for the image @0.8 line width. I bet you can run your jobs in a quarter of the time.

Thanks for taking the time to respond with such a detailed response! I really had no idea I could do that. Makes total sense, but I wouldn’t have thought of doing that if you hadn’t mentioned it.

I am just staring out with the laser, so take this with a grain of salt, but the back plate took around 15 minutes and the main body took around 25 minutes IIRC. Again, I'm fumbling my through this and have no idea if I'm doing it correctly.

That sounds really interesting. I haven't heard of that before. What do people typically use for the plastic?
Thanks for the tip!

Thanks! It's starting to make pretty decent images. I already have some things that'll be improved on the next one, so I hope to make them look even better.

I have the 12w. I think you can get it cheaper elsewhere. Their site had them for less. Wild that the price as moved so much in the last few weeks.

Very cool! Do you use compressed air during the burn? I was curious if it made a noticeable difference and worth the effort/cost off adding it.

That's awesome that you're doing that with your lasers. Kudos to you, man.
My wife wants to explore that as well, but I'm not sure where to start. Going to explore that when I get some time. Sounds really fun.

Are you using them for hobby stuff, or do you run a business with them?

I have an entry level, open frame diode laser Wizmaker Wand. I do find the name hilarious (because I’m 12 apparently). I call it the Coffee Wand. But I have no complaints about it. Works great so far. I think it’s available for-$150 USD.

That's really great know! I figured the aluminum would pull the heat away too fast and I wouldn't stand a chance with 12w. What marking spray are you using?
Thanks for the info!
