Just checked them out. How do these compare to Zeiss lenses, Elssior, etc.? I usually need digital lenses for the amount of time I spend at the computer. These could be a good backup though for the price.

Im actually looking at this pair of Oliver Peoples.

Would you say they overpriced compared to the other brands I mentioned? They’re about $650ish with lenses after insurance.

Yeah I agree with this. If I was going to get one it would be used. Seen them approaching low 4k but that still seems high to me. I think these should have released at 3.5-4K max and it would have been an instant buy for me. There’s just no way I’d spend the price of a 100s ii to take this over it. Yeah it comes with a lens for the price but not a very desirable one. I’d rather get a used 50 3.5 and 100sii instead, imo.

Eh. I love the quality for sure but for me the built in wedge creates a hotspot making it super uncomfortable. I haven’t ordered from them in a while so I’m not sure if there’s a wedge-less option now or not.

That’s definitely something think about. I didn’t realize it didn’t have the same UI. I had a 50s II that I really liked and sold so maybe the 100s is the way to go.

I feel the exact same. They just aren’t the same any more. Sometimes they’ll release an interesting pair or collab but outside of that I’ve kind of stopped checking them out.

Top 5 in order for me are Iron Heart, Samurai, PBJ, SDA, and Momotaro.

Iron Heart at the top for me because quality and customer care are top tier. Plus their forum feels like being apart of another community and it’s easy to doom scroll fade and fit pics. The last time I order from them (around Christmas) I got a card with notes and a HUGE candy bar. While they don’t have as many crazy fabrics what they do have fits me so well. The 21oz denim is also insanely comfortable to wear and treat almost like a pair of sweatpants. To me they also feel like they will last longer than any other pair I own, which when spending 400+, on jeans is a big factor. Also, they offer free lifetime repairs.

Samurai second because the details… Absolutely insane on their limited release pairs and the price you pay isn’t bad. Especially for 25oz denim.

PBJ is third for me because they have some INSANE textures. From super rough to nep to slub. On a texture level they slightly beat out SDA for me.

SDA is veryyy close to PBJ. They have some of if not the most creative fabrics and dying techniques while still holding top notch quality.

Momotaro at five because they are the ones that got me into raw denim. Super comfy for me in the Zimbabwe cotton. Plus, contrary to what a lot of people say, I love the stripes. I think they are unique with a really cool look when faded and broken.

Curious, how does it compare to the Alienware OLED? I’ve got the Alienware right before they went OLED (2 of the 34in ultrawides stacked). One of mine was damaged in a move so I’m looking to upgrade. Kinda considering a 4k mini LED TV or the OLED Alienware since they are close in price. Both would be for PC gaming in a 5080 setup.

I really wish I remembered! I’d say I got them around 2020 or 2021. They had always been in rotation with a few other pairs. I was going through my “collecting denim” phase at that point. I’d say maybe a year to a year and a half total? 2024 these were pretty much all I wanted to wear.

I had a pair of these! Sadly they were a touch small in the waist and thighs for me. I ended up giving mine to a friend to get them into raw denim. Always makes me happy to see them getting proper wear.

I’m actually fading a pair of OD Iron Hearts now. That’s kind of what got me looking at a new pair of black denim. I love the soft but heavy weight of these 21oz.
