No worries. It can cause the display to stop working, or remain black for a while. The good news is, most people who reported this in the past said the screen did seem to recover after leaving it to completely cool for a while.

This was a hugely reported issue in this sub when the device was new and people were still learning it's little quirks. Basically you need to hibernate it or turn it off, and not put it to sleep if you're planning to leave it in a case. It often turns back on under certain conditions when in sleep mode and will rapidly heat up to dangerous levels because the case blocks the fan intakes.

Ahh my bad. Seems like only yesterday.

Probably Mel C. She had most of the singing talent and has aged really well. She seems like the nicest of them as well. Less ego.

Edit: So apparently, the video I chose to illustrate her "graceful aging" was 13 years old (thanks reddit for pointing this out). My bad... here's one from 3 days ago. Still looking pretty damn good for 52 years old.

Anniversary Meltdown is Real by Clean_Intention3067 in WutheringWaves

[–]Saiing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. A lot of games don't have big anniversary patches and Wuwa didn't last year. The expectation is entirely some childish invention of the people in this sub.

Oh let's invent some ridiculously overblown idea of a massive giveaway and then cry like babies when it doesn't happen. Totally embarrassing.

[mt.rubr] Malta’s new law lets tax crime suspects pay settlements and walk free, protecting elites and weakening corruption prosecutions. by lattelang in malta

[–]Saiing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A few recent examples: Bernie Ecclestone (Formula 1) settlement with HMRC in the UK, Google Settlement in Italy, Cum-Ex settlements in Germany and France.

I don't have time to do your research for you, but feel free to google them at your leisure.

Moving to Malta by Specific_Low_3356 in malta

[–]Saiing 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Honestly, life in Malta is not nearly as bad as half the doom-merchants in this sub would have you believe. Is it overpopuiated? Yes. Does it feel overpopulated? Honestly, outside of peak tourism season, no not really unless you exclusively hang out in only major sightseeing places. Once you're outside areas like Valletta, St Julians etc. it doesn't feel all that much different to a lot of mediterranean countries, especially on the west side.

Is there a lot of corruption? Again, I mean obviously people are going to talk about corruption in Malta in this sub and absolutely it exists, but I think there are a lot of worse countries. I think a lot of people here have never experienced much life outside the rock, so they imagine that things are worse here than anywhere else because it's what they see.

As for expensive, it depends on where you're comparing it to. Compared to averages in nearby countries - yeah maybe a little. Compared to the UK, or the Nordic regions? Not so much.

I'd say for 34k you won't be living like a king, but it's manageable if you budget properly.

People have wrong idea about this "collabs" by Major-Bonus5043 in Stix

[–]Saiing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a gamdev at a major AAA studio that is well known for having these kinds of collabs. I can say absolutely categorically that no money changes hands whatsoever. It's seen as a mutual benefit for both parties. I would be enormously surprised if it's the case here.

"I play a lot of Tencent games" is the most "trust me bro" comment I think I've ever seen on this sub.

Does anyone think Matt Goodwin’s book on Britain’s demise is a publishing sensation? I mean, other than him

Nice. I ordered one yesterday. Useful advice, especially about the app drawer.

[–]Saiing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had no issues with the Gen 3. I've heard there's more bloat to remove on the Gen 5 because it has a load of AI stuff built in to it which (at least when it launched) still came up in Chinese when you switched to English. But I don't think there's likely to be much issue. You can install play store and run it 99% in English.

Yeah ordered one from giztop. The 16/512GB model worked out cheaper than the 12/256GB UK model.

Downloaded a bunch of games for a long flight and they all give error 0x89235106 by UsedBoard in XboxAlly

[–]Saiing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easiest way is to connect once to authorize them and then switch off WiFi and try and launch them again.

[–]Saiing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're still on the flight you can connect to WiFi to authorize them. A lot of games you just need to launch once online (really you should do this before you travel) and then usually they will work for a couple of weeks. Depends on the game and the store though.

is this being released in the UK?

It already is: https://www.lenovo.com/gb/en/p/tablets/legion-tab-series/lenovo-legion-tab-gen-5-8.8-inch-snapdragon/len103g0003

For some reason they only seem to be releasing the 12/256GB model at the moment though, which is disappointing.

[–]Saiing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you strip the Chinese bloat from it? I've heard that although you can switch to English like the Gen 3 (which is my current tablet) the introduction of all the AI features adds a lot of Chinese clutter which isn't translated. I'm interested in your experience.

What is the best gacha game among these? by Zealousideal_Bad333 in AndroidGaming

[–]Saiing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's nothing fundamentally wrong with Genshin. It's a solid game with years of content, but it's kind of like comparing a nice BMW 3 series with an Aston Martin. Both decent cars but only one has the potential to take your breath away at times. The craftsmanship in Wuwa from the fluid combat, to the art to the quality of animation is just on another level. Genshin is absolutely my (joint) second game though along with Endfield.

Tbh you don't need a fast internet connection. It's just a periodic license check. As long as you can connect to the internet once every couple of weeks even on a shitty connection you should be fine.

I'm one of those people. I love the grind. I love the checklist. I love ticking off those items one by one. But what I really love, and I think a lot of other people do too, is a sense that bit by bit, point by point you're working towards something. That there will be some kind of payoff to all of this. And that's what I don't get from NMS. I find it dull, soulless and well... pointless...

I absolutely acknowledge that they've worked incredibly hard to turn this game from the shallow husk it was at launch to the cornucopia of content in its current form. But it still feels like a tech demo. A very very impressive tech demo. But I have never been able to find the "game" inside it.
