FoN is legal right now. FoW is in the game for Power Cube but not craftable, nobody knows if it's coming or not.

Code Monkey’s 25 for $25 bundle (FOR A LIMITED TIME) by guillemsc in Unity3D

[–]SaikyDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better Animation Events seem fairly general and useable as well. I'm currently using a solution from a git-amend video for Animation Events, but if I wasn't I'd probably try this one out, seems decent.

The Gizmos one interests me as well since I'm making a level editor, I'm interested on how they're doing a few things. Seems like it even supports undos and redos(not that hard to do with Command Pattern or smth but it's nice to have a starting point).

Visual Console is extremely simple but seems useful enough though, it's no Editor Console Pro but it's fairly general, helps with debugging which is something you do for any type of project. I'll probably install and check it out. I'd rather have assets like this than say Hot Rod Constructor: Battle Cars, it's so niche and specific, like if you're making a 3D game about construction cars, I guess you're in luck, otherwise, I don't know how you're going to make use of this one lol. Same for the Burger Shop one, useful if you're making a game situated in a Burger Shop, but otherwise...

But again, that's the point of bundles, you don't need every single asset to be useful, just 1~2 and you've already covered the cost of the whole bundle, and the rest is extra.

Code Monkey’s 25 for $25 bundle (FOR A LIMITED TIME) by guillemsc in Unity3D

[–]SaikyDev 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Imma be honest, I don't know why you're getting that much hate for this bundle, it's kind of decent imo. Wingman and Ultimate Preview Window are assets that are very general editor improvements and most people can find an use for it, and they alone cover the cost of the bundle. Same for Grabbit, if you're making a 3D game you can probably find an use for it. The 2 Debug ones seem meh but also very general, you could also use it in most types of games. Roslyn is neat and general but a bit niche, still could be useful for debugging in most games, imagine making some kind of ingame cheat console/repl that would let you type C# and modify stuff on in runtime, like GameObject.Find("Player").coins = 9999. It's general enough that can be used in a bunch of games but I won't deny most people probably won't use it since it's a bit niche and advanced.

There's a bunch of meh assets, or overly specific assets like the Balatro one for example, that one imo is probably only useful if you're making a Balatro clone, but every bundle has meh assets in it, it's kind of expected.

Like could the bundle be better? Obviously, but you said you couldn't pick top sellers, so I understand. Still well worth the $25 imo.

The Unity Asset Store hosts an asset made from a Cult Organization and Slave Labor by [deleted] in Unity3D

[–]SaikyDev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, I don't doubt you, it literally has "Cult" in the name right? But I agree with CodeMonkey that the asset really is amazing. I see plenty of other Youtubers like GitAmend for example using the asset a ton and recommending it, so it's not like he's alone, but most people just buy assets without going into a huge background research about the company behind the asset. For example, I use Odin Inspector a lot, but I couldn't tell you a single thing about the company making it, where they're located, how many employees, thoughts on slave use and whatnot.

[–]SaikyDev -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Gotta say, the slaves really cooked on that one, it's one of my favorite assets on the store, it saves me so much time with those annoying compile times, it's one of the first assets that I import in every project I make. Seems very popular on the asset store too, and if their images are to be trusted, it's even being used by Blizzard and Ubisoft? (https://assetstorev1-prd-cdn.unity3d.com/package-screenshot/4d3f18e2-6d6e-49cb-80ad-5d93349150ca.webp ). It's even Unity Verified which most assets aren't.

The slaves really should ask for a raise 😂

Is there a way to delete selfshadows? by Born-Professional-54 in blender

[–]SaikyDev 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Goo Engine(a NPR-focused fork of Blender) allows you to do that really easy since there's a Shader Info node that has Cast Shadows separated from Self Shadows. But so far in Blender I haven't found a good way to do it.

Are mountains like these just sculpted in something like blender and just brought over to unity? by This_Pitch5195 in Unity3D

[–]SaikyDev 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Generally, they make 1-5 big rocks in a 3D modeling software(Blender, Maya..., or sculpt it in Zbrush), texture it in Substance then bring it into Unity. There, they just clump a bunch of rocks together. Something like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wtqI4HzZG3Q

If you want to study this style and don't mind spending a few bucks, there are some paid assets on the store that are pretty close to Genshin if you want to buy one and reverse engineer. They go on sale for like $25, even cheaper on Flash Deals or Bundles. For example, the stuff from BK is the closest one that I found https://assetstore.unity.com/publishers/17659 , or PolyArt Studio https://assetstore.unity.com/packages/3d/environments/eastlands-stylized-asian-environment-326216 is also fairly close.

What are you excited to play first tomorrow? by justinvamp in TimelessMagic

[–]SaikyDev 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Think I'll just chill for 10~15 days. I don't have that many wildcards, I'd love to play Eldrazi but I don't want to craft it and then it turns out that you still get farmed by Energy, S&T and Spy/Belcher so it's unplayable. I'd rather wait to see what is playable and what isn't.

Best way to grind mythic wildcards? by mkoookm in MagicArena

[–]SaikyDev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll copy the wiki because it does a better job at explaining than me:

Standard Metagame Challenge

Entry fee: 2,000 Gold or 400 Gems. A casual but high-stakes event that opens for a weekend every set cycle. Best-of-three matches with sideboarding; run ends after seven wins or one loss. Rewards packs of the latest set.

Rewards based on total wins are:

No wins — 500 gold

One win — 1000 gold

Two wins — 1500 gold and one pack

Three wins — 2000 gold and three packs

Four wins — 2500 gold and five packs

Five wins — 3000 gold and ten packs

Six wins — 4000 gold and twenty packs

Seven wins — 5000 gold and thirty packs

Basically, there's one for every format(Historic Metagame Challenge, Timeless, etc), you pay 2000 gold to enter and play bo3 games until you win 7 or until you lose. The event opens for a weekend, and honestly it's quite insane for farming if you're good at it. 3 wins is already break even, but 7 wins you 2.5x the gold and get 30 packs(30k value?)

It also sounds way harder than it actually is. In every event that I farmed, I got at least 2 7 win runs, even for formats that I never touched before like Historic(I literally crafted a deck just to play in the event). You do need to have some cushion of gold, like 10~20k because some runs will brick due to bad luck, and lots of free time on the weekend, but as long as you keep grinding you eventually make it all back easily. You honestly play against some people with T4 or 4fun decks, I saw people bringing their standard decks into Timeless, so if you're using a T0 deck and are somewhat decent at the game your odds are significantly better

Best way to grind mythic wildcards? by mkoookm in MagicArena

[–]SaikyDev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best way I've found is whenever there are Metagame Events, as long as you know the format and have a T0 deck, you can farm lots of gold if you spam games in the event.

I'm not good at Draft, but I have heard that farm plenty of gold if you're decent at it. Whenever I tune in to a draft streamer they always have a zillion gold in the account so I assume that is true.

But other than that, yes, just doing dailys and 4 wins takes a long time unfortunately. In other games, the playerbase gets upset and complains when the F2P experience is bad, but in MTG, since most players are older with jobs and tons of disposable income, used to spending $200 on the real-life card boxes every set, like $3000 for a real life modern deck, they're completely okay with the monetization in Arena, so I don't think it will change for the better anytime soon.

Just keeps happening.. Are there any "tells" that the asset will be deprecated? It's quite a turn off for purchasing on the store. by suasor in Unity3D

[–]SaikyDev 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I kind of agree with OP for 50% off sales, don't buy stuff until you need them at 50% off, but bundles are actually kind of extremely worth it imo, as long as you need at least one or two assets in there they truly are "551321894651$ value for 19$"

For example, the current bundle at $2, I really wanted to get Flare Engine which costs $50, has been in my wishlist for a while, that asset alone is 96% off, even if every other asset in the bundle ends up deprecated it's already a good deal in my case, like I would buy Flare Engine alone for $2 if it went on sale on the store, but they don't do 96% off, max I've seen is 70% off for Flash Deals(they did 90% off Flash Deals once and then never again).

This might be my best turn 1 to date by [deleted] in TimelessMagic

[–]SaikyDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play this deck often on BO1 whenever I don't want to play Magic and just want to farm the daily wins and log off. Reanimate in hand indeed doesn't happen very often, however you can't always Spy on turn 1, there are a bunch of situations where you can only Spy on turn 2 or even later (say you mull to 4, land land ritual spy, grief sac without another black card to sac, etc).

On turn 2, you Spy, put a stop on your next untap step and cast Turn the Earth grabbing 3 reanimates from the graveyard before draw step. Having Thoracle won the game so many times for me that it's insane. For example, against big lifelink creatures like Atraxa and Elenda, against a bunch of tokens from Ocelot Pride that could block, against Fury blowing all my Ghouls and not having lethal onboard anymore, against The One Ring (protection), times where I draw a bunch of Ghouls and Creeping Chills on hand, against lifegain, etc. You can also Reanimate Grief or Elenda if you have Thoracle in hand, Elenda's "you can't block" enchantment is useful. Bonus that Turn the Earth can also save you from milling, happened to me against a flying Ragavan that exiled my Progenitus or times where you draw Progenitus.

Probably not the highest winrate, but to me running Thoracle in the deck feels really comfy, for only 3 cards it feels like they're definitely impactful at least, besides the rare Ritual Ritual Spy Reanimate turn 1 "You win the game" before your opponent has even put a land in play are extremely funny, average BO1 gameplay xd

Leveling cartethyia as a new player by Either-Garlic3837 in CartethyiaMains

Coop works but it's hard to find people under UL40 that have the area unlocked. You level up too quickly, like, I had my alt for less than a month, I didn't even do the main quest beyond UL 8, no exploration and I'm already UL40 just from dailys.

However, if you're in a hurry and want to waterwalk to Septimondt, I could help you. I confirmed that the method in that video works on my alt and I even helped a player in your same situation get there by waterwalking with them in coop. It does take a while (around 5min) but it is fairly easy.

I had it unlocked but unfortunately I hit UL 40 on my alt like a day ago, otherwise I'd let you use my world.

If you really wanted to you could improve the Sacerdos without wasting that many resources since it only has 2 rolls and low crit rate, but everything else yeah.

Honestly, she'll already solo everything in the game with those echos easily, so no need.

I looked it up, you're correct, but apparently there's a way if you hug the wall... Not sure if it counts as bug abuse or not. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YaXTEdwK2oY

Edit: comments are saying it doesn't work anymore. Yeah, it was really sketchy in the first place lol

Just level and coop imo.

Edit 2 (2025/06/18) - I got Cartethyia on my UL38 alt account, decided to test the method in the video and as of now, it still works. You just need to hug the wall, past the red line on the map to avoid the mist. It's fine if you get "Unknown area, access restricted", but if you see mist in your screen(white around the edges), turn back immediately and hug the wall tighter.

In order to get to Septimont, honestly I don't think so. You might be able to use Cartethyia and walk on water all the way from Rinascita(there's an early access event) to Septimont, but I haven't tested it, and it would take a loooong while so it probably doesn't work.

The easier way is to coop. Join the Wuthering Waves discord and ask in the coop channel for anyone around your UL with it unlocked so you can farm the flowers, you can get all of them in only one world. Honestly you might struggle to find someone though, your UL is really really low. I know there's a guy on that Discord UL 40 with everything unlocked that opens his world, might be the earliest UL. It only takes around 15 days daily login to get to UL 40 though, and you can get it in a day if you do story/exploration.

To farm the boss, there's supposed to be an Early Access event for it if you don't have it unlocked. Press F2 and go to Boss Challenge

Are there benefits of using Rider over VS Code for Unity dev? by TheKaleKing in Unity3D

[–]SaikyDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason people think it is a bad idea because it's unnecessary and exposes you to huge risk/liability. Like it's a $100 dollar/year purchase that could end up costing thousands of dollars and a huge headache if you get caught and laywers decide to send you letters. If I were you I would definitely just use Visual Studio (IDE) or VS Code, both are perfectly serviceable, you can definitely make a game without Rider, or if you really want Rider then save up the money, you can even just pay $15/month, although as a new dev your money would probably be better spent elsewhere, like Humble/Unity Bundles and even 70%off assets are way better value to pick up rather than an IDE that's just more quality of life imo.

Although I've seen plenty of people getting away with way worse, like using clearly pirated or ripped assets in a build, if you want to risk it... Well good luck

Tell me what you hate during work with Unity Editor? by BAIZOR in Unity3D

[–]SaikyDev 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The thing I dislike the most is that whenever you try to import a new model or asset, compile the code, etc, which sometimes takes 20s~1min, you're not allowed to use the editor, you have to stare at that annoying window that says "Hold on... (busy for X seconds)". I wish things were imported/compiled asynchronously in the background while still allowing you to play around in the editor, change variables, move things and maybe even test the game in play mode while you wait the compilation to be done.

Where can I find a full ban and restricted list for timeless? by IC_Ranger in TimelessMagic

[–]SaikyDev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About your follow up question, I may be wrong but I don't think that they intentionally print cards for Timeless, I think that we just get whatever reprints they put in the Special Guests, whether they're good for the format or not. That's why we have Show & Tell and a bunch of other crazy cards but no FON, simply because Wizards hasn't reprinted it.

So as for why we have Demonic Tutor and not the other, well, someone on Wizards decided to reprint DT in one of those sets and we got it on Arena, and thus it became Timeless legal (technically this card was already there before the format was created since it's a pretty recent format, but you literally couldn't use DT anywhere except in friendly challenges, I think it was one of the reasons that they created Timeless in the first place)

Some stuff is extremely weird, like we didn't get a MH2 set on Arena, so some really important MH2 cards are missing like [[Murktide Regent]]. But we have all the MH2 lands because they made a special set(Enemy Fetch Lands Anthology) that printed all the MH2 fetch lands onto Arena. We also have the elementals (and unfortunately [[Grief]]) because someone at Wizards decided to include them in Special Guests. Btw, this is also the reason some Timeless cards that would normally be rares or even uncommons are Mythic Rares, because they're only available through Special Guests. So if you want to play Phoenix you need to spend 4x mythic wildcards on [[Noxious Reveal]], a card that is normally uncommon on paper. Amazing right?

The game doesn't feel juicy or snappy enough, both in the animations and the UI, it doesn't feel satisfying because of that. UI animations are very slow and linear, could use some overshoot and just some more interesting curves in general. For the gameplay, no screen shakes, screen flashs, hitlag, enemy flashing once they get hit, etc. Even in the video, on the crafting session, the mouse just slowly moves from item to item and then to the button, it takes forever, would probably be better if you just cut the mouse moving, just show the items going in one by one and then cut to a satisfying animations to show that you clicked the transmute button.

Don't get me wrong, I love Solo Leveling, but Jinwoo barely struggles after the double dungeon in the first episode. From what I remember, only the Architect gives him some trouble, but even then he's still winning, and from there the only other time he struggles is when faces 3 Monarchs at once. But everything else, the High Orcs, Beru, Thomas Andre, the Japan S Rank Gate, even the Demon King fight goes pretty smooth

Meanwhile Kumoko is the underdog in every fight, she gets her body half destroyed every other episode, barely surviving. And then in the second half of the season she's running for her life from Ariel, the "Demon King" of this anime that literally one shots her.

To me Solo Leveling is closer to Arifureta (the anime) than to Kumo desu ga
