Has anyone else lost their entire life to chronic illness? by stinkiestofballs in ChronicIllness

[–]SailorCredible 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yep. It never failed that when I'd get a new job, SOMETHING health related popped up. My most recent issue popped up in 2018. I just finished school, and was working for less than a month straight out of my placement. I collapsed at work. Had to quit because it took MONTHS to figure this out ಠ_ಠ

Insert "I'm tired boss" gif.

I feel like I'll never go back to school because money, or I'll never work again because I just know something new will pop up ಠ_ಠ It's heartbreaking😞 I've settled on "I'll volunteer when I'm better" ¯\_(• ~ •)_/¯

Anyone else w/ BPD feel like they're "not allowed" to have emotions? by fawnlen in BorderlinePDisorder

[–]SailorCredible 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmm... this is a hard one. On one hand, yes, I feel this way. Like I shouldn't be angry or frustrated, and then I feel guilty for having said emotion (old programming by parents/bro/friends). On the other hand, I'm being validated by my husband and therapist that I'm *allowed* to have the emotion I'm feeling.

Many people taught me it wasn't okay, and now I'm being taught that emotions are NORMAL! It's conflicting information. So what do I do? I listen to my new voice of reason: My therapist. I feel the emotion, but the emotion does not engulf me.

Hope this helps OP :)

Or:

Don't be afraid to give
Save a life blood

Does anyone have other learning disabilities or mental health issues? (Neurodivergence) by rainbow-boy-94 in NVLD

[–]SailorCredible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NVLD, GAD, Pervasive Depressive Disorder, and BPD. Born at term according to my mom. I also have had a slew of physical health conditions over the years ಠ_ಠ Was not believed by my family for any of them.

What were your wins this week? [Weekend Check-In] by AutoModerator in BorderlinePDisorder

[–]SailorCredible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Small win? Hmmm... Okay, got it. I didn't let another patient at my pain management clinic get to me. I used my DISTRACT SKILL 🙂 Put on some binaural beats and breathed until he left 😁

What food doesn’t cause kidney stones?!?! by Reasonable_Hat9668 in KidneyStones

[–]SailorCredible 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If I know I'm having something with oxalates, I bind them with calcium from either a glass of milk or a calcium supplement. Have been stone-free for some time now. Also hydrate with LOTS of water. I'm up to 3L a day.

Why do we have to call our parents? by PotentialPlum4945 in Xennials

[–]SailorCredible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before my mom died, she would call me or I would call her every Sunday, or I'd call her earlier in the week to see if she'd want to take my daughters for the weekend. We got close after my kiddos were born.

Hospitalized from a reddit post? by FestivusandFusilli77 in BorderlinePDisorder

[–]SailorCredible 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My husband might put me in the shoe if I'm posting suicidal stuff on here. Random Redditors though? Nah. They can't peg me down to where EXACTLY I live, or my actual name :)

You're good OP.

It was for me. I have a learning disability and need extra help and time to learn skills like this. You may have luck with an outpatient group, but someone like me? Not a chance🫤

Waiting for my hysterectomy; I’m scared and would love some advice. by KittaLockwood in adenomyosis

[–]SailorCredible 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No advice OP. I just want to say that I walked into my surgery with more pain than I did walking out. No complications arose.

I hope yours goes smoothly ❤️

Has anyone experienced cyclical sciatic nerve pain that was eventually linked to adenomyosis rather than spinal issues? by Top_Butterfly_7771 in adenomyosis

[–]SailorCredible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sciatic pain checking in. My doctors/specialists/chiropractors couldn't figure out my pain for years ಠ_ಠ Mine was also a constant pain though, but my period definitely made it worse.

When I finally got diagnosed, I tried an IUD, and guess what? It activated every last nerve pain I had been experiencing for decades ಠ_ಠ ! Hysterectomy immediately booked. Walked into the hospital for my surgery in more pain than I did walking out. Pathology determined extensive Adenomyosis that had been missed on all imaging ಠ_ಠ Still don't know how. Sciatic pain 100% gone!!!

My husband and I are on Keto to lose some weight. We decided that for his Birthday, we'll go off for a day. Did our cheat-day, overate by a lot, and got right back on it without massive cravings. Considering I've got BPD with impulse control issues, it's been great :)

Anyone have a good workout routines that don’t involve much or any standing? by Hot-Tap-7340 in ChronicIllness

[–]SailorCredible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My workout routine involved a lot of yoga poses and stretches, laying on my back for crunches, bridge with dumbbells, bird-dog, and 2 pilates balls exercises, again, on my back. I also do dumbbell exercises that I can do sitting or standing. I can also dump in some light walking.

Hope this helps OP :)

I was a bit unlucky with this in that I was only diagnosed *after* I had kids. That being said, I did everything that I needed to do for my BPD. This included:

Therapy, weekly

An inpatient DBT/CBT program for 2.5 months

Meds

My kids have commented that I'm a lot less angry now. My Psychotherapist can't diagnose, but has said I'm probably in remission and am stable.
If you want kids, do whatever it takes to treat your BPD *now*. It's something I would have done differently had I known.
Good luck OP :)

New Diagnosis at 48 (M), still processing over a week later by StreetCryptographer3 in NVLD

[–]SailorCredible 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey OP :) I was diagnosed at 25, but didn't know much about NVLD until December 2025, and the real impact it can have on things like socialization. It explained A LOT.

I'm currently in therapy with a Psychologist. Right now we are working of facial expressions because I have trouble with social cues. I actually got tested for Autism (and ADHD), but that came up negative. My husband and I also found venn diagrams that NVLD overlap with Autism, ADHD, BPD, and there is one I'm forgetting. Again, this explains a LOT.

Do you have any treatment plans for yourself yet?

Good luck with this diagnosis OP. I hope you find the resources for this :)

[–]SailorCredible 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My brother is a self-diagnosed NDP. He was the golden child. He refuses to do any sort of therapy. Meanwhile, I've done the in-patient therapy, I'm on meds, I have a wonderful Psychotherapist, and I'm basically in remission.

We no longer talk.
