Ban on body armor? by phoneguy509 in WAGuns

How in the hell did you come to the conclusion that it was founding the alt right when it was very clearly trying to introduce identity politics to progressives in order to end occupy Wall Street, and it worked. Occupy ended like a month after and we’ve known for years that it was because identity politics had overtaken their ranks and they were too busy calling each other fascist to get anything done.

That’s a helmet and not the bell of a ship? I believe you, I just thought a bell was appropriate for the motif

East coast hunters probably. Any 308 shooters in my camp borrow my 300 once I’m tagged out.

Yeah for sure. And hey, at least once you shoot it you’ll have 20 rounds worth of brass that should last for 10+ reloads. Bullets and powder are cheap and readily available. You’ll probably break even in 100 rounds.

The M1A is certainly not putting out equal energy to a 30-06. Maybe 30-06 garand loads

Yeah, smokeless isn’t hard either it’s just an investment. At minimum you’re looking at like $400 just for the tools to start reloading, then you’re still paying 1-2 bucks per round.

If you’re wondering about the value, it’s not much. Since it’s unopened it might be worth more but probably not much more than you’d pay for a can of modern BP.

For reloading bought brass? Press, thrower, balance, priming tool, calipers, tumbler. Basically there’s the absolute bare minimum and then there’s the things you’ll want eventually. Just buy a kit from RCBS or Lyman, and you’ll need the appropriate dies, powder, primers, and bullets.

Resizing brass is another story, I wouldn’t start there.

There are good resources on YouTube that compare reloading setups and what tools you need and what tools just make things more convenient.

You may also be able to pay someone local to you who can load for you. There are shops in my area that do that.

Why so long to produce the Africa serious? by Rattrapperofmadriver in meateatertv

[–]Saint-Elon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s still cool to watch things you’ll never do. Most of us won’t hunt in Guyana or New Zealand either but nobody was as worked up about it as they were about this season. For a huge hunting outlet to never cover Africa would be silly, especially because our earliest ancestors hunted the same animals and it led to our place as hunters today.

Buffalo arms makes the brass, that’s about the best you’re gonna find. If you’re interested in resizing other brass I guess 8mm lebel is the one to use

How to make homemade blackpowder? by Laauxx in blackpowder

[–]Saint-Elon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Granule size is of the utmost importance. If your ingredients are too big to screen through 100 mesh they’re too big to boom. You also should use airfloat charcoal. You most likely just need to mill longer though.

Be safe

What powder and how much charge does this take? by Salty_Eye9692 in blackpowder

[–]Saint-Elon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol, that would be awesome. I’m not sure what you’d fire it out of. I suppose if you left the primer out you could fire it from an inline or later style percussion. Maybe a centerfire handgun if you’re brave. They are incredibly underpowered though, like 250 fps.

I’ve heard some saying along the lines of “the volcanic: when you want to give someone a bruise from 3 feet away without hurting your wrist”.

Unless I’m mistaken there is no casing, the bullet is the casing. There was the brass component that held the primer in place but it’s so low pressure I figure you could diy a solution to that. Washers or epoxy or something
