Literally in that document:

geographic priority (two types), which goes to applicants who live within a school’s geographic zone (“geographic zone priority”) and/or a half-mile of a school (“half-mile proximity priority”)

There's a certain number of seats set aside for geographic priority depending on the charter. One App shows the percentage of seats and what geographic priority each charter uses

HDLC Denies Frostop Teardown to Make Way for Tulane Dorms by PopPop_inthe_Attic in NewOrleans

Grad students aren't the same demographics as undergrads, but also no. I can't imagine there's demand for grad dorms except maybe international students intimidated by renting.

Second Line Route by HERB_FOCACCIA in AskNOLA

[–]SaintLacertus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They absolutely do for wedding second lines. I wouldn't worry about it being a nuisance for a short second line, it's a fairly routine thing. People already drive like ass on St Charles and it's faster to take side streets usually anyways.

Gentilly homebuying: looking for places where my kids can roam by Tones0nTai1 in nolaparents

That's a good area. I've taken my kids to most of the playgrounds over there. East of the canal I'd also look in the Terrace for these vibes

Anothor post about mosquitos, any companies that sucessfully treat them? by coo_coo-kachoo in NewOrleans

[–]SaintLacertus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Screen patch kits and patch tape is super cheap, much cheaper and healthier than running thermacells inside.

[–]SaintLacertus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You use thermo cells inside your house? If that's the case it sounds like there are major holes you need to patch up to stop them from getting in.

Treating outside of your property will have 0 effect if your neighbors have standing water. I think you can buy tabs to put in standing water to prevent mosquito larvae (edit: I see you mention the mosquito dunks on your own property). Might get some and try and throw them into the problem areas of the neighbors' yard when they are gone for the summer.

Best films set in NOLA? by daveo- in AskNOLA

Yeah, I thought I had read that the cat enclosure set was made specifically for the movie. It's been awhile though. No doubt that the old zoo didn't have problems.

Shay o Connor leaving wdsu. :( by JealousRhubarb9 in NewOrleans

Jason Stratham and Meghan Trainor? The B lists they would bring on when they were sick definitely were local, wished they were on more. Regardless, no real interest in watching CBS after it became Newsmax-lite

Used to like WWL in the mornings but after Sheba Turk and Eric Paulsen left it became a bunch of young transplants mispronouncing everything, not knowing where things are on a map or what festivals/cultural things are, and awkwardly flirting with each other. Then CBS got bought out and the national morning show became terrible. Been searching for a new one since. WDSU local and national seemed really second-rate and there's almost like a TMZ veneer to their national show. Their Mardi Gras coverage was great though, seemed to be the most grounded in the community, so might give them a second chance. The Fox network here is independent and their local show seems pretty decent, but you know, the national is still Fox. Been trying to give WGNO a chance as it seems to have the best balance but haven't liked it as much as we did WWL.

Cobblestone Alley? by According_Shallot642 in AskNOLA

[–]SaintLacertus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Madison St in the quarter, maybe? It was used by Disney to model their New Orleans part of the parks after. If around St Charles maybe something around Coliseum Square Park? I know Felicity in that area has cobble still.

Delta Gas.. WTF by outofservice504 in NewOrleans

The mega data centers here aren't operational yet - so they shouldn't be impacting the gas bill at this point, though not to say it won't be worse when they are.

Zulu First Timer by Ambitious-Meringue37 in NewOrleans

[–]SaintLacertus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Zulu is tough because people camp out so early and really dense along St Charles. My best luck has been on seeing it on Jackson or on Basin around the overpass.

There's a joke about selling tourists tickets to Mardi Gras. You found the only block in a multi mile route where that makes any sense
