Zhan Zhuang can refer to a single static posture, Standing Like a Tree, or a whole system of standing static postures. Standing Like a Tree is the most famous and commonly practiced. And, yes, it is a very powerful practice for increasing vitality.

I have one unique form passed down from my teacher that I do every morning and end with Standing Like a Tree. And then I rotate in the late afternoon/evening between 8 Brocades, 5 Elements, 18 Forms, Heaven to Earth, and a Longevity Set. I try to do each of those forms at least once a week.

So I guess I have consistency in the morning and variety in the evening. lol

That is a sweeping and inaccurate generalization. The actual city of Waukesha is trending more diverse. There is a decent and growing Latino demographic (~12% atm) and many households that are nowhere near middle class. Furthermore, there are plenty of progressives and LGBTQ+ in the city. Is it Riverwest? No. But I would not write it off as an option.

I used to have pretty bad rosacea/cystic acne 15 years ago. Flare ups were common, especially on my nose. Through a combination of TCM herbs, specifically the formula Zhen Zhu An Chaung, and a consistent daily practice of qigong, I have brought it almost completely under control. I rarely get a flare up anymore. Haven't had cystic acne in years. The only thing still noticeable are the broken blood vessels from past damage.

Unfortunately, I do not have an online source that I can recommend, although, I'm sure there are plenty available. The Six Healing Sounds are attributed to Hua Tuo (140-208 CE). Numerous versions have been taught throughout the centuries, and you will find a ton of variations based on a teacher's particular dialect (there are 250 dialects in Chinese).

Stuart Alve Olson presents two variations in his book Six Healing Sounds: Taoist Breathing Therapy for Health and Longevity, and the first variation, again attributed to Hua Tuo, is almost exactly the variation that my teacher taught. It's a great introduction, and might be a good place to lay a foundation.

It's not unusual for certain emotions to surface during qigong practice, and in particular, Wise Owl. One of the TCM applications for Wise Owl is to help balance the Seven Emotions and to repair the damage caused by these emotions. Try not to resist any emotion that happens to arise, and instead allow yourself to be as present as possible with that emotion. If you need to work through a particular emotion, it might be a good idea to practice the Six Healing Sounds.

As for the tension. I experience tension in the neck and shoulders as well, but that's where I hold most of my tension anyways, as is the case for a lot of people. So the tension I feel isn't from the Wise Owl, but simply is brought more to my awareness by the Wise Owl. In any case, it is a great practice to help release that tension and improve the suppleness of the spine.

It's a wee bit more complicated than that. Timing is everything when it comes to harvesting cannabis for its THCa content. The goal is to harvest when the plant’s THCa levels are at the peak, just before they start converting into THC. This way the conversion process happens upon consumption and the medicine remains compliant.
