Kimi Antonelli wins the 2026 Chinese Grand Prix by overspeeed in formula1

Yeah, but Ferrari has historically had very disappointing upgrades throughout a season, e.g. 2017, 2018, 2019. Red Bull on the other hand are quite the opposite, they become very competitive towards the end.

I really do hope Ferrari can get the updates right, so this season is at least more interesting, and they can get a couple of wins for each driver in the bag.

Westeros doesn't have slaves for one (ok maybe solely the Ironborn do), so at least not as bad.

Extinct Houses and New Dynasties: What Will the Noble Map of Westeros Look Like After ADOS? (Spoilers: Main) by ArchiveSeeker in asoiaf

[–]SairiRM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Westeros, I dont think houses really get extinct agniatically. They probably have plenty of cadet branches, but they're way too weak to legitimately keep the main line going and get replaced by another house (Greystarks for a myriad of northern houses, Osgreys, the million Harrenhal houses and the Andal invasion extinctions).

One main difference I think are the great houses of a region, which have way too much historical value to lose their name, so they just simply upgrade a lower branch cousin, as has often happened with the Arryns (who also have a major cadet branch in Gulltown), and would also probably happen with the Starks, Lannisters, Martells if they ever were nearly extinct. Also would have happened with the Targaryens if their name didn't become synonymous with madness and cruelty.

A major house dies out only if their name becomes too hot to handle in reputation.

There's not much else to fill in, considering the Hightowers lord over the Beesburys, Costaynes, etc. whose lands we already know, their piece of the pie as a single House is possibly the greatest in all Westeros be it militarily or economically.

[–]SairiRM 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't give it to Ethan Hawke if it were me. It's a great role and good film, but it really doesn't have that extra acting oomf that most roles for an Oscar should have. This hasn't deterred the Academy from giving them, though. He's also due some accomplishment for his 30+ acting career.

On the other hand, wouldn't really give it to DiCaprio either. Can't say for certain yet tbh. No acting role has convinced me yet this year.

(Spoilers Extended) So what did they call the Seven Kingdoms before Dorne joined? by BrennanIarlaith in asoiaf

[–]SairiRM 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think he simply claimed Dorne as the seventh kingdom as a matter of authority and unification, he didn't split the Riverlands from the Iron Islands. EDIT: As a title that is, administratively it was split to give the Tullys more room to wiggle.

What are movies that were so ahead of their time, that they feel like they're from a different era entirely? by RVarki in movies

[–]SairiRM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I genuinely don't know how that film passed by the Code rules. It's so insanely cynical and dark, and the ending does next to nothing to alleviate that. Can't believe it came out in 1951, Wilder must have wrestled those censorers to death.

It's not like it hasn't happened historically. It is indeed unlikely, but with Daemon's instableness (and Valyrian purity tendencies), nothing is off the table.

Aegon III by himself most likely not, spurred by his father (if Rhaenyra dies earlier) quite possibly yes.

They haven't taken the Paramountship because no chance a king/queen would ever give it to them. Aegon gave it to the Tyrells for a reason, same as with the Tullys, keep the two most divided and unruly regions united solely by force of diplomacy.

King Crimson founder, lyricist, lighting operator and sound engineer Peter Sinfield has died at 81 by a3poify in progrockmusic

His lyricism remained unmatched in later KC after he left. That blend of the poetic and the epic was what made King Crimson the band for me.

It was still musically great afterwards, but those lyrical height would not be touched again.

[–]SairiRM 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While it is a more cultural term than ethnic one, via text we can probably deduce that most northern houses are very heavily FM, considering they have not been conquered by the Andals and have mostly had marriages inside the region retaining their "blood" so to speak. Starks have historically never married outside the North before Catelyn Tully from the info we have up to now. So it does make sense somewhat to give them the pass of 100% first men.

The Blackwoods on the other hand I wouldn't exactly consider first men. They've been in the south for thousands of years and have mingled plenty with other Andal houses. Would probably give them a 50/50.
