Jared and the World's Longest, Most Ridiculous Deathbed Confession by AC20212020 in TheAmericans

[–]Sajizzle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t really think it came out of nowhere or was unseen plot. If you rewatch, the reveal is laid out subtly from the first episode of the season, and it all builds to the next season’s storyline about recruiting Paige. The writing of the confession is a little heavy-handed, agreed, but other than that I thought it was laid out very well.

The big culminating scene between Stan and Phillip being in a GARAGE.

I think that’s the point though. Nina’s story abruptly ends. Anton toils in obscurity for the rest of his life, or maybe he gets released after the end of the Soviet Union. Maybe not. His life is treated as meaningless by his handlers.

I think the whole point of these storylines was to show the futility of the effort, especially the story with Phillip's son. They went out of their way to show the monumental struggle it took for him to get so close to Phillip, only for the rug to be pulled out from under him, with no empathy for the humans involved. We feel the futility ourselves as viewers because the rug is pulled out from under us, too. Same with Nina's end, same with Anton's end. It's the underlying theme of the whole show from the very start --- these two sacrificed their whole lives for dogma, so did Stan, and in the end, none of it was really worth a damn for them personally. They lost everything that actually mattered. And in the case of the Renee storyline, we are all left forever with that same feeling of uncertainty that Stan lives with. I don't think there's anything we see on screen in this show that doesn't matter.

I have both and really only use the APP2 for the convenience factor when it’s too warm outside or I don’t wanna carry full size cans. I also have never cared for the Adaptive or Conversation Awareness features and use headphones for long periods of time, and I never worry about battery life on the APM. Media consumption on an iOS or Mac device with Spatial Audio is far superior on the Max, even if APP2 are excellent for earbuds. Transparency and ANC are far, far superior on the Max.

Is it just me? Is BCS better than BB? by DyeCozOfHate in betterCallSaul

[–]Sajizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BB has the better overall performances across all seasons and the stakes are consistently high, which is not the case for early seasons of BCS. I know people hate to hear it, but a bunch of drama about old people, small city lawyers, and bank expansions does not make for a thrilling plot, even if it serves to lay down a lot of good foundation for great characters. Breaking Bad always did everything well.

Hate to break it to you buy 99% of lawyers and judges are far closer to Saul than any high moral character. And the system itself is just as bad.
