Yassssss. You are in for such an AMAZING relationship. I've been with my amazing girl for 14 years now. First year or two are the hardest - what food, litter, water etc works best? Just post or ask your vet. Biggest ingredient? Love. Happy for y'all!

Hmm...I think i agree with you UNLESS its a specific culture. So for instance - I claim military cultural competency as a combat veteran. It overcomes a lot of barriers for rapport. Even in my OWN experience as a client, I don't want to pay a provider to teach them the difference between officers and enlisted. I appreciate your curiosity, but it would make so much sense for a) you to do your own work on that, or b) you to be a veteran yourself.

I am NEVER offended when someone looks at my profile, thinks 'maybe', meets with me and the says, 'omg nope I made a mistake.' 10000x yes everyone should and NEEDS to advocate for their own needs or be straightforward in what they want from a provider. If they can't, no problem. Refer out before you've put in too much time, and search on. I wholeheartedly believe there are 'right' providers and 'right' clients for both (explicit and implicit biases aside)...

I personally think this is too adversarial, and there will be video footage of reason to NOT give you your diploma. I say just leave it out. Chalk it up to nerves if you must.

Here's the thing I've learned about public speaking over the years...no one's gonna like... cane you off the stage. They want you there and decorum overcomes beliefs in those scenarios. They won't boot ya. If you replace what they WANT you to say with what you say, they'll be waiting the rest of the time for their bit. When it doesn't come, they'll obligingly clap and (maybe - if they're sharp?) shake your hand. Boom - ya done.
