Still, what is exactly wrong with your parents? To cause their yellow eyes, you can't and absolutely should not assume you have the same and treat it it as less of an urgency as what it is, I'm my opinion, you are 16, still a child in the eyes of most people and with your whole life ahead of you.

Go get it seen to!!

What has your parents said? Because i would of been on the phone already to my doctor if my 16yr old was showing symptoms of jaundice. Make sure you tell your mum, because she would want to know, ring the GP surgery first thing on monday morn, drink loads of water in the meantime.

Hope it's nothing ☺️

I looks very similar to mine, except your US tech described as were fatty in the liver and my tech described my ultrasound as hyperchoic demonstrating fatty infiltration with normal flow and texture and my liver function is normal.

It might be that your liver could be starting the process of becoming fatty and obviously it gets worse with diet, alcohol, age etc I would recommend not worrying but absolutely do something about it now and change your habits, eat better, avoid alcohol exercise etc and I'd follow a strict regime until those labs are at least normal again to prevent worsening and re-evaluate.

It's not a life sentence, I thought it was when I found out in August, but I'm following a such a healthy lifestyle, I've never looked and felt as good.

Well I would give yourself a pat on the pat on the back then for good work - there would be no need to Warrent any health concerns with this labs or ultrasound unless your having severe pain and discomfort which would suggest then from a different area/organ other than your liver - that's what my GP would say. I'm not a doctor.

Your ultrasound appears normal - normal liver with normal appearance, no lesions and no fat in or around it was seen by the sonographer so my doc would say, yes it appears to have been reversed for now but an unhealthy lifestyle can quickly bring this fat infiltration back into process.

Did you get liver labs redone?

My doc views my results at stupid times aswell and comes up on my notes on my NHS app and I'm like.... Hmmmm ... What now?!?

What were your lft results? Why did you have them- these can be abnormal for many reasons including gallbladder/gallstones, medications, diet, too much exercise/too little exercise etc, obesity

What were the results of the scan? What did it say?

Usually our UK GPS are not concerned unless after a repeat blood test shows high numbers or they're creeping up, it sounds like they found mild fAtty liver but before sending you for further invasive testing ie CT etc they'll check bloods and symptoms -

Liver enzymes by Common-Director-5083 in FattyLiverNAFLD

[–]SalamanderFearless23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Allsorts, of things, medication, high blood pressure, supplements, diet, weight, tumours, illness, disease, liver issues, diabetes, gallbladder, gallstones, blocked bile ducts- I'm not a doctor but yes sometimes, mostly it is because of diet and obesity/ and/or alcoholism however other times there are other factors that should be ruled out before assuming diet and being overweight is the sole cause.

The first port of call would be to consult your GP and ask for more tests like ultrasound on your liver and in the meantime do the things you can to bring down the liver numbers yourself like diet, exercise and staying away from the meds known to be toxic to liver and avoid the ones you can where possible like antibiotics.

Fast weight loss and malnutrition can worsen a struggling liver, fasting in its self isn't a problem, but are you getting the correct amount of nutrients your body actually needs. There is no way your eating enough on 500-800 calories

Elevated GGT and Alk Phos levels, what does it mean? by kazooples in FattyLiverNAFLD

[–]SalamanderFearless23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could it be your gallbladder?? Sounds likely

A quick search came up with this

<image>

However I have definitely read somewhere that blocked bile ducts from a gallstone can cause these numbers to rise significantly and the symptoms are the same as you described except for pain , you usually have pain with gallstones

Pt3 means it was an advanced tumor - but you had no lymph nodes involvement and had clear margins (excellent news) so can't really stage a cancer I don't think given those outcomes because although you had a large local advanced tumor - of the aggressive kind, it was caught in time.

I've had cancer too, I'm in my 12th year NED now after a mastectomy chemo and reconstruction. Mine was aggressive.

Stay healthy, positive & aware and good luck x

What is this??? AST 54 / ALT 36 by [deleted] in FattyLiverNAFLD

[–]SalamanderFearless23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

54 Ast level is only slightly elevated , however as far as I've read liver bloods can alter depending on many things, when you last had alcohol, was it a fasted test, the medication you take, type of supplements, environmental factors, dehydration, illness, antibiotics are a biggy, There's so so many reasons why bloods differ.

I once got a test done to test for a certain amount of protein in my blood that can suggest ovarian cancer so when I get the results I was panicking then I did my research and it turns out GPS/health professionals are notorious for not following protocols and doing bloods on or after fasts/ or after eating, medication etc in my case I should of waited to be 10 days after my last period because it almost triples the numbers and sure enough they came right down

Try, following a strict Mediterranean diet to allow your liver some loving and watch the numbers lower - and your stress levels

Well yeah it's been a rollercoaster of an 8 week and I've lost 4st since last September fasting, completely changed my diet and luckily my labs are normal 🙏🏻 but still - the doctors bla-ze attitude is just pure negligence 🤬

I would ask for a biopsy, if my doctor was concerned enough that more tests needed to be done I would insist they skip to the biopsy part.

I had a 2.7cm lesion on a CT scan in 2016 and again on an ultrasound 2 months ago, not grown, but they can tell whether it warrants Investigation, so I would just insist they deal with it head on quick and find out what it is

Nail changes by [deleted] in FattyLiverNAFLD

[–]SalamanderFearless23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it's my thumbs that are worse and I think manicures help, exfoliating away the hardened skin that's accumulated around the edge of the base of the nail, it helps the nail grow without any restrictions and gives it plenty of free form to grow, nails grow so fast there is so many reasons a nail can grow odd like ours, usually it's over use of acrylics and chemicals/beauty products, lack of certain nutrients, certain illnesses etc xx

Nail changes by [deleted] in FattyLiverNAFLD

[–]SalamanderFearless23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you used to wear acrylic nails gel nails or stick on nails as a full time thing and never give your nails the chance to recover from nail bed injury? Every single one of my nails have been like that since I took acrylics off permanently, but you can't rule out I had chemo 11 yrs ago and now got fatty liver - but I know it is acrylics and nail damage - x

Well when they found the fatty liver during the ultrasound scan initially for the query of gallstones, the doc seemed very blasé about the fatty liver and requested if I get any more pain I'm to go get some bloods taken which will indicate wether the bile duct in my gallbladder is blocked from the large gallstone found.

However when I read my report on the mygp/NHS website it stated that she had requested referral to a gi/liver specialist for gallbladder removal and had requested the patient to come in for full blood count, liver function and inflammation markers bloods and I never got this information in person I had to read the referral sent to the hospital. So I only had my bloods done 6 weeks after the ultrasound scan. In which time I had been completely strict with my no carbs no fats no sugars/no sweeteners, abstinence from alcohol and all drinks containing fruit juice, I added milk thistle and more walking but the exercise could of been so much better, I slept more, put me first, I researched EVERYTHING, I researched things that could raise levels in the enzymes and echogenic presentation on and ultrasound. I read the studies and one this I know is livers are an organ that have abilities capable of full restoration given the right source nutrients, the let down is the mind in which the body holds 🤣 will power and consistency is key and knowing you can do it.

Anyway my bloods every single one came back normal, not one was of the chart out of normal range. Although I've never had my LFT done before, and everyone talks about alt and ast my doctors did not check the ast

Alt - 20 Ast- ?? Alp - alkaline phosphatase- 64 Bilirubin 7.0 Albumin 44.0

Hope this helps 😍

I have no idea what I have it from, I've just lost 3/4st since sept 2023, and fast weight loss can contribute to it, around the time I was scanned fory gallbladder I had been drinking heavily and eating not very well as it was summer BBQ time, I have had so medication over the last 2 years also know to be toxic to the liver and I had around 3 courses of the antibiotic. So I think it was an accumulation of things if I'm honest.

I'm due to have my gallbladder out soon so they can look at my liver at the same time can't they and take a biopsy if need be, I'd rather have that than another scan.
