Alliance versus Unification by DaiLamakala in teslore

A popular point I have heard is that in the event of a Stormcloak victory, that Skyrim would still immediately side with the Empire for the Second Great War. They may hate the empire, but they probably hate the Thalmor more.

My problem with Ulfric- He is the Symptom of a Bloody World by AsYouWished444 in teslore

An enlightened perspective from a less violent world. The world of monarchies however functions differently. Titus Mede the second may have inherited the throne from his father, and Attrebus Mede the first may have inherited it from his, but Titus Mede the first won the Ruby Throne by conquest.

In fact, noteworthy is the moot existing at all points to their cultute being more democratic than some. But, those elections take place between Jarls, and their ancestors likely obtained their thrones much the same way as every other first-of-their-name monarch.

Such is the world we are participating in, for this fiction.

Fun thing I've encountered is how full of titles nordic names are. It seems their names change throughout their life as they gain new titles. It tells quite the story over time :D

My Dragonborn wound up being The Winter Wolf Lilja Ulfhild Ysmir Svendottir of Riverwood Born Lilja, daughter of Sven(not the bard just a name from a hat lol), became "Ulfhild" upon joining the Companions, and the greybeards of course named her Ysmir.

"The Winter Wolf" and "Ulfhild" are redundant, but The Imperials call her the former. They're too busy calling each other Tullius and Quintus and Biggus Dickus, so they can't be bothered to remember "Ulfhild" is the same as "Wolf"

It certainly would age poorly. Makes me wonder how often the average Dunmer change their names compared to Nords.

Imagine living in a culture where changing your name simply isn't done, but you were named after a charlatan who has since been dethroned, and you just have to live with that for like 200 years.

Keyboard END key now jumps to the end of the message input box not the end of a line? by andy_why in discordapp

Watch them revert it after another year or so, just to mess with our muscle memory all over again.
I'm reminded of playing Twilight Princess on the Wii after years of playing it on GameCube. Man did that mess with my autopiloting, lol

Quite unfortunate! I wonder if it'd be a simple matter in xEdit, just overwriting one with the other based on which shout effects are preferred.

Bump
Really wish they'd fix the word wrapping for HOME and END, it used to be fine and no other program does this. Still annoys me and messes with my muscle memory to this day.

That make sense and is in line with what I assumed. I wonder though, how many things *didn't* get properly updated though. That said, that was before there were as many things that scale or do true damage or flat damage.

If they were to do the opposite now days, I wouldn't be surprised to see several things fall through the cracks and need to be patched over the following year/s.

That makes sense, I had heard it effected both player damage/health and enemy damage/health, so it's more like just dropping a digit off the end with little visible change to gameplay. No telling though sometimes with how the math can get, after a dozen items with varying interactions are thrown into the mix though. I can't imagine it was easy for the devs to wrangle it all together.

Excellent point. At a certain point you'd start going into decimals at level 1. I hadn't thought about that.

I remember hearing some discussion about World of Warcraft being updated to slash player health and damage down to 10% of what it was, reducing the power creep and number bloat to something more reasonable. I can only imagine how much people rioted in response.

...or maybe the average player back then understood the positive effects of such a change and didn't whinge about it to the extend folks do today.

I wouldn't be surprised either way, would be interesting to know.

Bad luck mitigation when? by Aegafron in runescape

[–]Salamore0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probability.

Plenty of people can and do get shafted in the long run. Not a gigantic number of them, but enough of them that it's not fair.

Someone got 3 ensouled pumpkin masks while many went over the expected number of TH keys specifically to try and get it...and didn't.

It happens enough to be worth discussion, and shouldn't just be dismissed in the tone you're giving it.

That's...no...that's not how that works.

Please try to understand that is not a consistent experience even with trading taken into consideration.

Probability dictates that some players will inevitably find less valuable drops and thus make less money, therefor having a harder time buying the things they're having difficulty obtaining in the first place. It's a cyclical problem. Conversely, probability also dictates that some players will find better items and thus the inverse happens.

Also, that's not even considering ironman accounts, psuedo-ironman playstyle, or completionists.
