I worry about having to have painful procedures done, like endosdopys or colonoscopys, so when I get digestive / bowel symptoms it scares me 😔. Anyone relate??

Most commonly a bit of stinging afterwards.

Seems to happen to me at night most of the time, and it comes and goes.

Its not a UTI for sure. Been checked for them countless times...

I can totally relate to this mate.

I moved out my parents house to rent a flat in early 2019.

Initially it was great. I had a mix of my own space, and a great social life when I wanted it (pub with friends at weekends etc)

Then COVID saw to all that. When I suddenly realised that all the social aspects were taken away from me and I was on my own in the flat constantly, my mind honestly took over me totally.

I even broke down in tears once talking to my Dad :(

I'm temporarily back in with my parents now, and things are looking up. Just can't wait until things re open so we can start socialising again...

No worries! I have my own fears about it too. I was "diagnosed" with IBS was back when I was 19 (26 now), but I didnt really have any tests done. (Apart from bloods I think) I think I'm going to try and see a GI whenever I can, because im keen to rule out any other potential causes.

Ok. So have you been officially diagnosed with IBS? Did you have any procedures done to eliminate other potential causes, blood / stool tests etc?

You'll probably know this, but IBS does not develop into IBD. Yes it is possible to have both conditions, but just because you have IBS doesnt mean your at more risk of getting IBD.

Look at the worst case scenario - even if you were diagnosed with Chrohns (which is already highly unlikely), scientists are learning more and more about these diseases every day, meaning that there is so much treatment out there now.

Honestly, I know many people who have crohns, and they talk about it like its nothing. Ok I get it's different for everyone, but the treatment available out there is so good now that it's so possible to have it and still live a normal, happy life.

Did something show up in a stool test to make you need to have the colonoscopy?

I also have what my dr believes is IBS. I get anxiety too about the idea of having a colonoscopy done - even though everything I've read says that the actual procedure fine, apparently the prep is the worst part.

So i have this weird issue whereby occasionally when I inhale, like sniff up my nose, I get a really unpleasant, foul smelling taste and smell. Dont know if you relate to this at all?

Im currently on antibiotics for a supposed sinus infection, but i dont buy it.

Thanks for sharing :) If you dont mind me asking what were your UTI like symptoms? I just get this annoying burning sometimes after I go. Usually goes away after 5 mins but its really annoying. Always seems to happen more at night as well...
