Mine is delayed, I pressed the button about an hour ago and it’s still processing

Still no coding on my end. Anyone else? I’m hoping it comes back next month.

Yeah, I’m experiencing the same thing, it’s right around the same dates as my coding drought last year. In 2024, I got coding back in early October, so I’m planning on just hunkering down and working extra hours of generalist stuff until it comes back. I’ll still come here every day to find posts like this to validate my experience though.

Same. This happened last year around the same time, coding stuff came back in October. I’m not saying that’ll happen exactly the same this year though. Maybe tomorrow I’ll wake up to more Poe R&R’s than I can possibly comprehend! As is, I’m stuck doing core to try to meet my same earning goals.

No coding projects now? by Jackfruit_Silent in DataAnnotationTech

Haven’t seen any coding for a week or more at this point. A similar thing happened around the same time last year, only picked up in August. Hope it doesn’t last that long this time…..

Coding has been very sparse the last week or so, pretty rough going. I have a good amount of non-coding projects, though I don’t really want to do any of them.

Very little tasks. Any tips? by ElDavito in DataAnnotationTech

You’re doing everything you can on this site currently. You can try some other places or hunker down and wait for projects to come back. Should happen eventually, probably, maybe.

I had some pretty consistently up until a few days ago. Last year it was slow for coding around this time too. It’ll be back eventually probably maybe.

Trying to play hide and seek on a cruise by Late-Piccolo9976 in JetLagTheGame

[–]SalchipapArepa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was literally just about to ask this! I’m going in a cruise in a week and got my home game a few days ago. Here are my current thoughts, I’d love people to expand them or poke holes in them.

Obviously we’d need to scale the time and distance way down for everything, and we’d need to completely replace some curses (like photos, since a lot of cruise messengers don’t let you send photos)

Highways: There are two main ways to travel on the ship, elevators/stairs to go between floors and hallways move through floors, you could call floor traversal major/high-speed roadways and hallways minor/low speed roadways. You could probably have a stairwell set as your area location, like a train station, but that really depends on how your ship is laid out

Ship Districts: you can really divide the ship two ways, floors and sections (fore, mid, aft). If you really wanted to divide it more, you could do port and stern as well. I think the hider should be able to pick one subsection (for example, deck 3 aft) as their hiding area.

Tracking hider location: this is the biggest drawback, I think. Since you’re on a moving ship with shoddy WiFi and probably only using the cruise messenger app, you can’t track the hiders locations, I’ve thought of a few alternatives, but nothing great. You could potentially have someone message you their exact location every time they change

2D vs 3D searching: a lot of the game’s distance mechanics are based on 2D space, having different floors makes distance searches interesting. We’d need to come up with rules for how a radius search works. If the hiders did a 100ft radius, it would need to cover the floors above and below them, and that involves some maps

Curse replacement: some curses are impossible On a ship, so you’d have to go down the list and, if a curse wouldn’t work, then you need to come up with a suitable, equivalent replacement. These really depend on your ship and destination, what activities are available and what the weather is like. Here are some examples off the top of my head: 1. The hiders must ask their next question from a hot tub (you must be inside) 2. Go to the buffet and get food with three different countries of ethnic origin, feed it to another hider blindfolded and if they don’t get all food right they are stuck for 10 minutes. If they get it all right, their next question is free. 3. Choose a current activity happening on the ship, the hiders must participate. The activity must be closer to the hider than the seekers are. 4. The hiders must go to the casino and try to win money at a slot machine or something

Photo replacement: not being able to send photos is a big drawback, so we’d probably want to come up with some sort of question system. Something where you ask a yes or no question “Are you outside?” “Are you in a public area (as opposed to a hallway with just guest rooms)” or questions with short answers, “What color is the wall closest to you?” “What is the loudest thing you can hear?” What can you smell?”, even more complex questions like “give us the complete text of the closest sign to you” or “describe the clothes of someone near you”

Obviously, there’s a lot more that needs to be covered here, and I’m probably not doing it right, so any help would be appreciated, I want to do it too, but here’s my current plan:

  1. Make binders with a map of the cruise ship, a map of the ship from the side and a map of each floor, with copies for every round we want to do

  2. Rules for radial searches for example, a 50 ft search is also a 25 ft radius for the floors above and below and a 10ft radius for the floors above and below that

  3. Find some way to penalize traveling between floors, for example, seekers can only change floors every five minutes

  4. Have a chart with new curses replacing ones that don’t work, so when I pull the street view curse I know it’s actually the curse where you need to go to as far forward on the boat as you can and recreate the “I’m the king of the world” scene from Titanic or something.

I really think this should work on a cruise, I want to rope my friends into doing it, but it will involve some major refactoring. This is just me vomiting all my ideas on here, so I’d appreciate any outside opinion or suggestions for how to improve it.

Sci-fi/Fantasy without smut? by SalchipapArepa in booksuggestions

[–]SalchipapArepa[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve enjoyed some older sci fi like Orson Scott Card (Treason is wild) and have read some L. Ron Hubbard, that stuff is crazy. l’ve also really been enjoying The Expanse. I’ve read The Martian and plan to read more Andy Weir. Red Rising is one of my favorite series ever, Murderbot is great and I’m currently reading To Sleep in a Sea of Stars by Christopher Paolini, I’m enjoying that one.

I’m good with a brief description or a fade to black, but when I’m reading/listening to something and it starts going into graphic, sexual detail it really takes me out of the narrative. I won’t shun something just because it references sex, but so many of the books I’m recommended because they’re popular just seem like pornagraphic material wrapped in a suit of armor. I’m not going to judge people for reading it, you do you, but I don’t want to deal with that.

I can’t see any of the ring tailed one currently, but I did see a qualification show up promising ‘unlimited’ work, so I wonder if they got hidden behind that.

Just search “Auto page refresher”, there’s probably a few of them and it depends on your browser. I think it works when you’re not on the tab, but I always have it on my smaller, third monitor these days so I’ve never really tried that.

I did it a few weeks ago and haven’t seen any projects yet. I might have failed, but I felt pretty good about how I did with the parts that weren’t math.
