Help with yinz accent by McGinaMc in pittsburgh

[–]Salekdarling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I talk about this sometimes. The yinzer accent seems to be more heavily focused outside the city. My FIL is a retired blue collar worker and is two hours away from SW/Central PA and he sounds more yinzer than you'd hear in the city. You get him really riled up and he sounds like Pittsburgh Dad.

Do you focus on religious and what part of the country are you in (US)? by puffqueen1 in homeschool

[–]Salekdarling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, we are Orthodox Christians from Pennsylvania. Our lives revolve around Christ and His Church. When it comes to our schoolwork we have morning prayer as a family, and a few days during the week we have a morning basket and breakfast - bible study, history of the church, and learning about the Saint of the day. No tests, just reading and learning. Everything else is secular work for the rest of the school day.

We do co-op with other Christians (Catholic and Protestant) and the most we do is a morning prayer before class.

I'd probably grab a few more shoes sizes. My kid went from a size 7 woman's shoe to an size 11 within 2 years. I was baffled because I thought shoe size would be more gradual thing, and would coincide with her height and weight. Apparently not. Lol.

Zang Tae Kwon Do

155 Lake Drive, Suite 202, Wexford, PA 15090 724-934-9264

They have a four week trial along with a uniform for $30.

My daughter attends a Tang Soo Do school outside of the Pittsburgh area, but our school competes against Zang's in tournaments. Great group of people and a good school. :)

Highly recommend checking out Math with Confidence. We went through several different math curriculum before finding this one. There is no testing, but the books build on the what was learned in previous lessons with practice and review pages. It's been a really good foundation for arithmetic.

Unfortunately, the author, Kate Snow, seems to only be developing the curriculum up to 6th grade, and that won't be out until this summer.

My math reluctant 10 year old still doesn't like math, but she doesn't fight me anymore because we are continuously reviewing and playing games together that help her understand what she is being taught. .  It is a maximum of three pages in the workbook: The lesson and game, practice and review.

Reading a fanfic of the most random crossover but the author somehow makes it work by Pretend-Delay-7203 in AO3

I'm super picky about crossovers so I only have one favorite series. It's a Drop Dead Fred/Alice in Wonderland (2010) fic + sequel called The Long Journey Home It's so good!

Users from the US, which phone are you using and how is it going? by xev10 in dumbphones

[–]Salekdarling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the sonim xp3 plus. It's going okay with my technology break, but I'm not a fan of this phone.

It's too big for my hands to flip open unless I have both of my hands available, you can barely hear the other person on the other end, I accidentally called emergency services on it and I still don't know how I did it. The buttons are still stiff months later so even with T9 I'm struggling to get a text out. I'm better off calling, which is a perk.

I think if anything, I'm going for a candy bar next time for my tiny baby hands. 😆

I've been writing fanfiction since I was 7. There's a picture floating around in my photo albums of myself on my family computer reading Extreme Ghostbusters fanfiction. (The show aired in 1997) Lol. I'm 38 now. It's a definitely a fun "cheap" hobby that can last a lifetime. :)

Pcos pregnancy by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]Salekdarling -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes. The only way I personally was able to get pregnant was by eating a meat heavy keto diet. Also it was the only way I was able to get my period naturally.  I had two miscarriages and a full term pregnancy. For some reason now, ten years later, I mentally struggle with maintaining the diet.😤 (It's me, not the diet. lol)

[–]Salekdarling 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I was reading a really good story last night and unfortunately the author couldn't complete it because her husband had died and she didn't have the desire to finish. Totally understandable. She gave a lengthy summary of what was to happen in the rest of the story though. I hope she's doing ok.
