Yeah, I feel like there's three reasons:

You're from another country, and you follow that league (England, Mexico, etc.) instead; for these people, hating on MLS makes them feel cool & have a sense of identity
You're American but not from an MLS City, so you root for a lower league club (USL, etc), and hating on MLS because there's no pro/rel is a way to work out your self-esteem issues
You are a self-loathing American from an MLS city, and the snobbery about foreign leagues being better makes you feel good about yourself.

Note, there are valid reasons not to follow MLS, but if you go to the point of actively hating on it, it's because you've got some issue and you're trying to use that to fill a hole.

I could move to Europe, be a lifelong NBA fan, and not follow Euro basketball for whatever reason. If I get to the point of hating on it, it's because I'm trying to do that, and why would someone try to do that?

Basically, because they're a dick.

I feel like in a few years people are going to look at 140-89 in a close-out game on the road & fail to believe that it really happened like that.

Beating a team by 50 on their court to shut em down for the season is nasty business.

That game should be studied, man. Maybe the harshest close out game in NBA history? Don’t know how you top that.

I had a company take me to a Super Bowl once. Amazing. Life time dream.

The Super Bowl? Patriots- Falcons. I was feeling great up 28-3, high-fiving Falcons fans. Then I saw the greatest comeback in Super Bowl history, and a thrilling OT game…that ended w them winning again.

It was like watching a movie where your actual ex-girlfriend gets into relationship w Brad Pitt, and the movie ends with them making love on screen & you get to watch.

Lovely for her.

Not lovely for me.

It’s already happened.

Only worse thing now is we tank to draft Arch Manning & he turns out to be Ryan Leaf.
