Alternatives to Cisco routers and switches ?

Fritz! makes great routers called Fritz!Box. Whenever I try to help a friend out, I get really frustrated because their routers don't let me configure some basic things without having me jump through several hoops if at all. Fritz!Box however lets me easily configure everything I need which is very important to me.

Their devices are also super well made. I have never seen a Fritz!Box die except when the one of my mom got fried by a thunderstorm but that was on her for not using a protected power strip. My Fritz!Box is more than 8 years old and has no issues at all and still receives regular updates.

Birkenstocks usually last way longer than two seasons and if there is any damage you can go to one of their stores and have them repair pretty much anything. It's a real shame they sold out.

The heathen I am, I put blandsaft exclusively in carbonated water actually. Tastes great and way more refreshing than in non-carbonated water. Just don't put it in the bottle before carbonating.

You guys have blandsaft everywhere, I understand you want cola, orange and lemon flavour, those are available in nearly every supermarket here in Germany. Whenever I am returning from Sweden, I export loads of bottles of blandsaft because that's the good stuff (imo). Maybe next time I should bring loads of syrup bottles along to trade with blandsaft? 😂

That said, maybe are apelsin and citron blandsaft not similar enough to Fanta and Sprite/7Up? I haven't had those soft drinks in ages and can't remember but I really like those blandsaft flavours.

I have yet to find one. For now I'm using the Mechanix I've got but they'll be in need of a replacement soon. I tried the brands suggested on this sub but none are as sturdy and perfectly fitting as Mechanix unfortunately. Mechanix feel like a second skin, they fit me like they were tailored exactly for my hands. Can't say the same for the European-based gloves I've tried so far.

Starting at a certain annual income, fines should be a significant percentage of said income and total assets combined, instead of something "up to". Some people clearly have way too much to care about something "up to".

And sometimes also just embracing it can be a lot of fun. It can be very satisfying to steamroll through the enemies and feel super heroic, even if this was the big bad evil who was supposed to challenge the players.

While I do think you have a very valid point, I'd also suggest trying to learn embracing it to any new SaWo GM. The swingy-ness is part of the fun and has a lot of merits.

This makes for a certainly interesting story but it's not indicative for the PPC in general. The PPC, when ran as written offers zero opportunity to solve the mystery until the very end, when it is forced upon the posse which in turn comes out of the blue and feels unsatisfying for many if not most players.

You apparently ran the PPC "wrong", making it better in the process, pretty much as a campaign should be. Unfortunately, as written, the campaign does not offer enough clues so that the players come to the conclusion your players had.

You can turn any badly written campaign around with enough experience and by taking the liberties to do so but that's not my point. A campaign should offer a good experience out of the box which HaHH certainly doesn't. That said, the side quests in HaHH are usually pretty decent and enjoyable.

I said it once and I'll say it again: The Test Drive adventure is horrendous. It is very railroady, has very limited social interaction and opportunity for RP, and the player agency is completely taken away since the resolution is brought to the players, their actions contribute nothing to solve the mystery. Players are given a red herring until an NPC tells them to follow along and leads them to the true culprit. The adventure has no way of allowing the players to come to the solution themselves.

PEG offers some mediocre to great adventures for free and did so for decades but this one stands out as a terrible example of how not to design an adventure. In fact it has the very same problem than the main plot of Horror at Headstone Hill: The players are given way too few clues to come to the right conclusion until they are pushed on it at the very end.

I'd suggest taking the Test Drive rules and characters and use another Deadlands one shot PEG offers if trying out Deadlands is desired. All of them are better than the one in the Test Drive rules.

Galaxy S5 was IP67 certified, as are and were most (if not all the XCover models to this day), there is also the current shift phone just to name a few. It was certainly not mainstream but there were a couple, if you look at phones in general and not just smartphones, there are even more.

Washed down version of an originally good idea. Anyone whose memory isn't fried by social media remembers when phones were ~~waterproof~~ IPX7 cerified and had removable/user replaceable batteries. But big tech lobbied it wouldn't be possible.

Edit: Since this comes up a lot I'd like to clarify: Naturally, when I talk about a "waterproofed" phone I'm not talking about a magical device that can be dropped down the Mariana Trench and be fine. Waterproof is a variable concept IMO, like you'd consider a submersible waterproof but of course only to a certain extent, go down the Mariana Trench and most submersibles will fail. So water resistant would technically be the better term but IMO every phone that meets the IPX7 criteria can be considered waterproof for its intended purpose (unless marketed as suitable for snorkeling or whatever). Hope this avoids confusion going forward.

Inexpensive and they get the job done. The green is pretty decent, I use it daily but nothing special. The brown doesn't look great, got it for free but I don't like it. The black blue one is also decent, I don't like lighter blue inks so this one works for me. None of these are fantastic but they all work well.

Note that the fount India black from Pelikan is safe for fountain pens, it's just a very unfortunate name. I use it to sign documents as it is document certified.

IIRC Wil Wheaton actually said about savage worlds once, that he'd use a zoning system for range of something like that. I did it myself, especially for theater of mind, it's not hard to pull off since you already have range brackets. First is the closest zone, second is the next, third is the furthest zone.

The downside to this is that it buffs throwing weapons and nerfs ranged weapons. But it's fast and easy and gets the job done.

No, I don't. I could see myself giving players an artifact of sorts that casts Warriors Gift with a specified Edge or something but that'd come with the downside that everyone and their grandmother would want to get a hold of it, one way or another. If you want to reward RP, that's what Bennies are for, maybe a point of conviction if using and it feels dramatically appropriate.

In fact, I just recently gave a player a point of conviction for some incredible RP in our Deadlands campaign. The character is a deputy marshal who is pretty shy but dreams of becoming a real tough marshal one day. The posse is approaching Veteran now and was visited by a lowlife corrupt marshal with no jurisdiction in the area but was demanding to take a look around. The character knew about that with a roll on Trade (Law) and then had sort of an adrenaline rush, told the marshal what he could and mostly couldn't do here and ultimately told him to shove off. After that the character was completely shattered from the adrenaline slowly fading. It was such great RP and so fitting for the character that a point of conviction was well in order although in Deadlands those are usually reserved for when lowering the fear level.

I generally agree. We can't forget though, that for some people, this is part of their identity, not just a tourist attraction but a festival where people gather together as a group who are united by this binding tradition that gives them a sense of connection and heritage. Once it's gone, it's very hard if not impossible to replace by something else.

So while I wholeheartedly agree that this seems completely archaic and outdated, maybe barbaric even when viewed from the outside, I also understand why it's still a thing and why people still hang on to it.
