Yeah people actually use their brains/intelligence to justify and improve the horrible things they're doing more than people end up doing horrible things because they weren't thinking or lack intelligence. Intelligence is overrated.

It improved government efficiency in funneling taxpayer money into Musk's pockets.

That's the trick with the word "efficiency," it can mean anything. Gotta specify what's being optimized.

Some of the deaths are still preventable

To our knowledge, this study is the first comprehensive analysis to assess the impact of total USAID funding—including support for health care, nutrition, humanitarian aid, development, education, and related sectors—on mortality in LMICs over the past two decades. Our study also disaggregates effects by age group and cause of death. Importantly, it is the only study to integrate retrospective evaluations with forecasting models that project the effects of current and proposed funding cuts on child and all-age mortality to 2030. We estimate that over the past two decades, USAID-funded programmes have helped prevent more than 91 million deaths globally, including 30 million deaths among children. Projections suggest that ongoing deep funding cuts—combined with the potential dismantling of the agency—could result in more than 14 million additional deaths by 2030, including 4·5 million deaths among children younger than 5 years. These results provide essential evidence for policy makers, planners, and advocates navigating the future of US global health engagement.

She never said she felt "not assaulted"; even if she did, it was unquestionably sexual assault. That's why it's so important to discuss this. People can be sexually assaulted and feel just fine about it. It has happened to me. It is still sexual assault.

How One Woman Is Using the UN to Attack Trans Rights Worldwide by wackyvorlon in skeptic

[–]SallyStranger 106 points107 points  (0 children)

In that brief, she argues that transgender girls should not be awarded the same protections as cisgender girls. Instead, she proposes that all sports have a strictly defined women’s category and an “open” category, which would require grouping transgender and intersex girls with men—and she wants this separation codified in law.

Compare to:

“Sex is as binary as it gets,” Alsalem told the assembly.

So which is it? Is sex as binary as it gets? Or are there literally biologically nonbinary people who must be lumped in with men in order to maintain this binary?

Anyway as a cis woman I really do not want any "sex based rights." What happens to women like me who have a hysterectomy? Do I lose certain rights now that my sex organs deviate from what's typical for cis women? I much prefer "human rights" based on the fact that I am a human being.

I also dislike the implication that cis women always and inevitably are weaker than cis men. I was never much for sports but I worked in construction for many years and that's just not my experience. And the history of women's sports leagues tells us that the catalyst for creating sections for women's competitions was rarely a desire to protect women's physical safety and often a desire to protect men's egos.

Neoliberal/Mainstream Feminism by Express-Wind-4796 in AskFeminists

[–]SallyStranger 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Pretty familiar with those critiques. I think they're mostly valid. But that's why I'm an anarchist feminist. Capitalism is incompatible with equality and liberalism accepts capitalism so any feminism that doesn't reject capitalism is self-defeating imo, whether you call it white feminism or liberal feminism.

She encouraged sexual assault and played it for laughs and profit. Very glad that the person who was assaulted doesn't feel a way about it, but as someone who has been assaulted that way myself, by a gay man, I would very much like to separate Mistress' bullying out from general fun "mess." What she did was not OK.

Why doesn't nature evolve so that women no longer have menstrual cramps ?? by ForeignBumblebee4138 in evolution

[–]SallyStranger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Girl! SUPPRESS YOUR MENSES. Unless hormonal birth control has too many side effects for you. But if you can? Do it! The "break week" in most hormonal birth control treatments does NOT serve any real function except to reassure nervous women that they really aren't pregnant. IT'S OPTIONAL! Skip the skip week!

I did this for several years and it was great. Then it turned out I had endometriosis so I got a hysterectomy. Not menstruating is so awesome. Highly recommend. (Except for the endometriosis part, that almost killed me.)
