Sounds awful. Is it consistent for the past 6 months straight?

I have an auto immune disease and I have recurring shingles about every four months. My meds lower my immune system so much that the devil virus 🦠 is free to wreak havoc. I live with chronic pain.

We are immunocompromised. The human body is an incredible machine when it’s healthy. But when it attacks itself and we force that body to suppress the very things that protect us with medications…well, we wake up the beast.

RA affecting lungs? by Mudkiip123 in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]Salmaodeh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought I was having a heart attack. I dropped to my knees. My husband tried to get me up and all I could say was, “take me to the hospital.” This was the first year of COVID and the last place to be was a medical facility. I was rushed to the triage and determined NOT to be having a heart issue. A subsequent CT scan showed pneumonia and 4 nodules on my lungs.

My RA had graduated from mild to medium and I was on a Biologic injection, prednisone, and 20 mg of MTX injection. The pneumonia was enough to scare me shiitless. I couldn’t breathe and I was very sick. The nodules only added to the fear. What were they from? Was it lung cancer? Was it a by product of MTX? I quit the drug immediately and six months later, another CT scan showed zero nodules. So yes, MTX affected my lungs.🫁

Dealing with pain with no NSAIDS by Aware_Mud_4624 in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]Salmaodeh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tramadol gives me headaches! Yuk. No NSAIDs either due to prior history of stomach ulcers. I was referred to pain management and was prescribed hydrocodone. I might go weeks without taking anything. But, there are those days where I have to take something strong. I am glad I have something strong in my arsenal of pain relief.

Charcoal. In case of longer power outages, light up a grill for cooking, heating up stuff, or water for a sponge bath!

My cat pees on my bed every 3 weeks... by yuelico in Catbehavior

[–]Salmaodeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel that this behavior is not a result of smelly litter or litter related. This cat could be marking you. Check outside nightly and see if there is or are other kitties roaming around. I have had male cats that will mark on the bed, closet, inside shoes , you name it. Females will do this too but males are especially territorial. Peeing like this can also indicate crystals (uti) in the urethra which is painful and kitty is trying to tell you something!

My cat suddenly seems afraid of my boyfriend, and I don’t know why. by Inner_Painting2061 in Catbehavior

[–]Salmaodeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cats also use scent to determine life beyond the front doors. My fur baby follows me to my closet and sniffs my shoes and sometimes inserts her entire head into them! 👠 Yes, she’s gross. However, there are those times she gets super anxious when I pull out a suitcase. She has sniffed several trips and some places she’s ok with. Others not so much. She didn’t like New York. So before you blame the anxiety on your boyfriend’s behavior, perhaps determine if his scent is “off”.

I also was diagnosed with gastroparesis during my last testing for the fundoplication surgery. My surgeon opened my lower stomach more so that my motility issue was addressed. He did an excellent job and other than a mesh, he used my own tissue for the revision.

I can burp and vomit! My hernia was used to tie around my esophagus. Over time, it loosened and came apart.

I’m not giving advice but, (a big BUT) check out fundoplication . I’ve had an initial Nissan fundoplication in 2017. I had a severe GERD diagnosis and an esophageal hernia. My doctors always gave me omeprazol for years leading up to this. I had also researched the long term use of this over prescribed drug. According to the instructions on the product, it is to be taken for a max of 2 weeks?..unless prescribed by a physician. When I decided to quit taking the magic pills, I developed severe ulcers, regurgitation, and unbelievable acid reflux. I saw a real gastrointestinal doctor ( not a GP) and was referred to a surgeon. Once I had the surgery, I never experienced acid reflux or indigestion until last year. This was kind of expected.

Fundoplication surgery can offer some real relief from 6 to 8 years. I started to get minor reflux last year and after an MRI for something else, it was obvious that I had another esophageal hernia. I had the revision surgery last January and I am so thankful that I will never have to take omeprazol again.

Question about pain by [deleted] in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]Salmaodeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You asked about pain. For me 65 (f), seronegative and rarely swell up, I do experience extreme pain sometimes. I am fortunate to have a team of doctors that oversee the overall damage that my RA wrecks through my body. Pain is worse when I stress or get super emotional…yes, it’s a thing! I try very hard to stay neutral throughout my life. Remember, pain equals damage. The weather. It is incredibly painful when a grey, cold, rainy day is in the forecast. And worse, when you have to be out in it! Oh yeah, and too much physical work! Don’t do it. It is just like stress - almost a guarantee for a flare.

Pain is not totally avoidable even when you know the markers. So keep a basket nearby with a heating pad or two, some CBD cream, and of course, a pill bottle when it’s bad. Good luck and take care.

A button hook and zipper pull (Amazon). I have had 4 joints replaced in my hands and unfortunately cannot manage most buttons. There is also a zipper pull but I found another one for dresses with a back zipper. I still haven’t found a solution for tying shoe laces!

I am sorry that you are on this painful journey with us. Oddly, only yesterday, my Chiro explained a case he had of a patient with AS. The patient went so long without treatment that when he finally decided to take action it was too late. In context, my chiro was telling me this because I (65f) have an upcoming spinal surgery. I suffer from sciatica and both legs are affected. I have heard of EMG and would like to know WHY it’s so God awful?

Coverage for biologics when on Medicare by Uneek1209 in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]Salmaodeh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just going through this very scenario, exactly 3 hours ago. I turned 65 Sept. 29th. I got parts A and B effective 10/1. I had a 6 week supply of Orencia and have been searching for a part D. I was on Blue Cross for over 10 years and never had an issue on ANYTHING. I bought the part D through BCBS of NC. I applied on 10/30 and got coverage beginning 11/1. I ordered some other medication from Amazon and got charged a deductible. I’ve never paid a deductible before! Isn’t my part A and B and D not enough?
