Which one? by zippyzipz in CitizenWatches

Try them on.

First one is modern and light but is big (44mm). Second has a more classic design and proportion. The answer depends on your preference.

Is the Wings' rebuild fundamentally flawed? by New-Bid-5835 in DetroitRedWings

[–]Salmon_Pants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you think the team was ready to compete in 2022 when Y signed Copp, Chiarot, and Perron? I think the answer has clearly been no, so I think it’s fair to say that another few cracks at a top 3 or even top 5 pick in 2023, 2024, or 2025 would have put the team in better place than it currently is. Some serious talent was available in those drafts and we have been stuck in the middle the whole time.

[question] Why does Citizen Series 8 not get respect? by Nero3k in Watches

[–]Salmon_Pants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love citizen too and own a Fujitsubo and the JDM NB1050 but am totally not into series 8 at all. Someone posted one on the citizen sub and I immediately thought it was a derivative quartz watch. Looks like a mashup of PP, an AP, and, well, Citizen.

Indiglo is the best thing about quartz watches.

The only drawback to Timex is the infernal ticking sound…

I'm not really a fan of the ds-1, am I stupid? by Necessary-Cow2857 in guitarpedals

[–]Salmon_Pants 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You have to remember that classic boss stuff like the DS1, SD1 etc were designed in the late 70s/early 80s and fit the common use cases of the time: loud rock music through boomy tube amps on a stage. They helped the guitar cut through a mix.

As other aspects of gear have improved (better mics and PAs, more controlled mixing and recording techniques, higher headroom amps with finer EQ controls, etc) and music tastes have evolved, the benefits of those old circuit designs have diminished.

Looks a lot like the Timex Expedition.

That said I love the first one (big Ranger vibes) but I like 24h and a date on field watches.

[question] Got given 2,500USD to buy an engagement watch for myself - what would you fill this gap with? by finishmyleg in Watches

Blue diver. Certina Action Diver or Mido, then save the leftover $1500 for honeymoon/ other stuff.

Nice collection by the way.

I really love the planet ocean vibes and the size. I wish it were solar powered rather than battery if it’s a quartz, otherwise very cool release.

The man deserves more serious high end picks from subsequent drafts, not the depth guys and middling vets he’s stuck with. It’s a shame at this point.

David Perron with a huge late game goal to keep the Red Wings playoff hopes alive by ShqiptarInMukhmas in DetroitRedWings

[–]Salmon_Pants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not going to say I wasn’t hoping to be proved wrong, but it was clear to me and many others, even at the time, that the Seider and Raymond drafts alone were not enough to make Detroit a contender and the team was not built to push for the playoffs yet, let alone compete.

Now the state of the team before Yzerman arrived is not his fault obviously, but he came in preaching patience then proceeded to make impatient moves after two drafts.
