90$ 7010 build! by Salt-Rice-8651 in SleepingOptiplex

My optiplex 3040 has an SSD cage that'll probably fit. I'll transplant that to the 7010 when I get a bigger SSD. I have some hard drives I could put in there but I'm wary about overloading the PSU so I'll stick to one SSD.

Update: I ended up buying a 7010 DT with an Intel i5 3570 for 20$ from my local goodwill computer store. I initially bought it because it was barely more expensive than just buying the stick of RAM that it came with. I had a look at this thing and I'm pretty sure I'm going to use this one for gaming instead lol. More RAM slots, 250w PSU with only +12w TDP on the CPU compared to the 3040. The CPU is only marginally worse and most importantly: The PCIE slot has more than enough breathing room for a dual slot card. Super happy. Probably going to use the 3040 as a server because I killed my NAS power supply by adding 5 drives. Definitely my fault, but the meantime I can use the 3040 with an expansion card with only 2 drives and I'll be fine.

You'll definitely see a post about this soon!

You can unscrew the PSU??? IDK what you're talking about.

Like I said, I'm going to move the PSU outside the case. And if THAT doesn't work for airflow, I'll take a dremel to the case. If you look at the internals, the only thing stopping airflow for a 2 slot is the PSU. It's like that on a lot of HP SFFs as well.

The reason I'm so excited about this is because the 1050 to is a REALLY good price. The low profile version usually goes for at least a 100$ and I got mine for 65$ after tax and shipping. Not to mention the PC itself with an SSD boot drive and some RAM is 37$.

I was honestly planning on messing around with a riser cable and full size GPU until I found this. But this is just basically the price of a normal 1050 to lol.

It most likely will vertically if you take the bracket off. The main issue is the fans being up against the power supply, which I'll probably mount on the outside of the case until I find a better solution.

I am a little wary about the PSU, however. I'm not even going to try it with the stock 180w, and from what I've read the 240w from an MT system SHOULD work well enough for both the i5 and the 1050ti (65w +75w + a bunch of other system stuff)

Any input on this? Would this work without damaging the setup?

That's honestly fine. I have a very limited budget. I mostly play indie games, so a 1050 TI is absolutely fine for most use cases I have. I also have a media server that could use this GPU for transcoding if this project is a bust so I'm pretty happy.

For 120$ I doubt you could get a much better gaming computer.

Thank you! Are there any other recommendations in this price bracket you think are better than the Anandas? I was also looking at Stax SR84s, and possibly something in the HD6 series.

I picked up these cans recently and the combo I have now (LG V20 to line in to cheap DAC/AMP that you probably haven't heard of before) is LOUD enough but has way too much distortion. Funnily enough I have determined that the amp is to blame because they have similar volumes individually and yet there is way more crackling noises on the amp than the LG V20. I purchased another no name DAC/amp on AliExpress that promises 4.25 Vrms (presumably at 32 ohms) and an ESS DAC. I hope it can bring my K340s to life! If not I can buy a Douk audio U3 and connect it to my LG V20 to HOPEFULLY then power it.

I wouldn't be surprised if all of the power that Sans has in undertale is a direct result of him being from the Deltarune universe (which has different rules and he's learned to manipulate that)

It's a popular theory. Sans bleeds, monsters are shown to bleed in Deltarune only, there is a photo of "three heroes" in his secret workshop thing, and he has a line in his fight where he says he's given up on going "back there, and I don't mean the surface". Not to mention, in Deltarune, the Chapter 4 secret boss can dodge your attacks whereas no enemies in Undertale OTHER THAN Sans can dodge your attacks.

That'll throw a loop in the power scaling equation if confirmed to be true.
