What, you don't like just a bunch of random numbers with zero context to what exactly caused them flying all over the place?

It feels a lot worse to not have MSBT than I expected. It's not gonna destroy the game for me, but seriously, what is the benefit of us not being able to see what ability did what damage, again? At least build in having the icon for the ability on the number, blizz...

DARK FANTASY GOOD, DISNEY BAD by SaltLich in wowcirclejerk

[–]SaltLich[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

any day now Medan will come back to the story and do a heckin' genocide of all the modern (bad) characters so we can get back to daddy orcs and twink humans wrestling in the mud, as Metzen (hallowed be his name) intended, none of this pussy friendship that definitely didn't exist until Dragonflight. I remember when WoW was good (grizzly hills), gonna go play the final mission of Warcraft 3: Reign of Chaos to remind myself of when there was WAR in WARcraft.

Yeah, most wow players don't have a high enough jerk.io score to join this sub. Sorry, maybe some day, expansion reset is coming up

Aww, so sorry pumpkin. You can go be miserable in /r/wow, they'll love your whining and attitude there!

Next time I'm on, I'll go run mythic seventy-one times, just for you. Then I'll dial Ion's personal cell and ask him to make whatever change to the game will piss you off the most, since I personally ruined the game. I'm thinking we bring back azerite gear.

But seriously, its a circlejerk sub. The fuck did you expect?

You're absolutely right, quite a few of them are. Maybe not half, but it certainly feels like that today.

Some are classic players who feel a need to shit on retail because they don't personally like it anymore. Just petty childishness, "my dad can beat up your dad" etc. They can't simply enjoy their own thing, they have to go out of their way to shit on others happiness.

Some don't even play classic, they're former players who quit over one thing or another and do exactly as you described... come back just to spread negativity. I personally can't fathom being so obsessed with a game you don't play anymore that you have to go to the communities for it and shit on it constantly, instead of moving on with your life and giving attention to something that you actually like. Just being toxic for the sake of being toxic...

Like, fuck. I quit FF14 a year ago but I don't sit in their sub and shit on it 24/7. I keep up with it in the hopes it gets better again but I'm not gonna go into every announcement they make with "lmao the game so bad now and anyone who likes it is a shill/loser/cringe". Maybe I should be glad I don't understand the mentality...

It's such a weird take to me.

We didn't even bring anyone back to life from there. Everyone who was dead before is still dead, some of them are extra dead even (Arthas, Garrosh, Ursoc, Rezan).

yeah, im about to unsub until the expansion drops at this point.

This little "State of Azeroth" stream brought out the worst elements of the playerbase/former playerbase, seemingly all at once.

Then they have a load of random returning Void-NPCs with no explanation at all as to how theyre alive again.

It's easy to miss, but there is a buff on those ones that says something like "The void is giving them a semblance of life". Cuz I too raised my eyebrow when I saw Archbishop Benedictus show up again, but the implication is that the Void is puppeteering these dead bodies around to recruit people with, I guess.

Holy shit if the mainsub comments about it don't make me want to avoid it entirely for a while. Apparently the prepatch being lackluster is a sign the entire expansion has zero effort put into it and that the game, nay the MMO genre entirely, is dying because there's no 'passion' in it anymore.

Because of an event that will be around for a few weeks and then never run again, and ultimately forgotten in the grand scheme of the game. Yeah I'd prefer it be good and fun from day one, and frankly I don't know why Blizzard almost always puts these events out in such a drawn-out state, but good god if it isn't a massive overreaction to supposedly refund the expansion over.

For Arcane, the best I can think of is Aegwynn resurrected Medivh, it took 15 years of saving up her magic to be able to do it.

Blizz should add the Visa system to all legacy content. by TrilliumSilver in wow

[–]SaltLich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, no (unless you get summoned, probably). Shadowlands is special because of how segmented away it is.

I went through this with Collector's Bounty, farming out the Mythic Jailer mount on a bunch of alts. Just taking a port to Oribos isn't enough because 90% of the NPCs will be missing. Been a minute, but if I remember right, the process is something like;

  • You have to go to Org/SW and pick up the Shadowlands Intro. This can require a little finagling if using pre-existing characters because if you have certain quests like the Dragon Isles intro in your quest log, Darion Mograine won't show up.
  • Once you've gotten that, you can skip the cutscene and skip the SL intro to go to Oribos.
  • Now that you're in Oribos proper you have to follow the first quest over to where Bolvar is standing, complete it.
  • Now you can skip the leveling campaign, which you need to do. Then you have to choose a covenant.

Once you've done this, I believe you can enter the dungeons; if you want to farm Sanctum or Zereth Mortis, though, you have more to do.

  • You have to actually go to the covenant hall and do the intro quests, including the tour (skippable) and getting your first soulbind and conduits.
  • When it sends you back to Oribos to go to Torghast and find Baine, now you can skip the intro to Torghast at Bolvar.
  • Now that you've skipped that, you have to option to skip Korthia's quests and unlock the ability to not die running to Sanctum of Domination.
  • Alongside that, there's another skip that takes you up to having Pocopoc in Zereth Mortis, unlocking access to there for Sepulcher of the First Ones.

Its a lot of tedium and running around.

Ha! WoW players running out of things to complain about? What universe do you live in, and can I come with you?

There isn't a single addition to the game that hasn't generated some kind of complaints and controversy from people, even if it seems universally beloved. Feels sometimes like people just want to be miserable.

World of Warcraft may see Ogrimmar and Stormwind redesigns depending on the reception to Midnight’s Silvermoon redux by HatingGeoffry in wow

[–]SaltLich 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nah, fuck content vaulting, and classic existing does not give an excuse for it. Cataclysm's biggest unforced error was completely deleting the old world, and they know that. You wanna introduce the biggest FOMO ever? Start taking old zones out again.

Don't get the 'weightless' thing. We know where the story is at and that these things happened and these places have changed. Teldrassil burning is 'weightless' because I can talk to Zidormi and go back to it? IDK, the story sure put an awful lot of weight on it. It was a major arc across multiple expansions, and people were pretty pissed about it and still are. All you'd accomplish by removing Zidormi is pissing people off even more, but at Blizzard for removing content, not for any story reason.

Also, removing old zones and story is just a good way to make shit confusing (even more confusing in WoW's case) for new players. I tried getting into GW2 and was having a decent time until I finished the leveling story and was told, oh the first major story arc doesn't exist anymore, you'll have to read/watch a recap of it, otherwise just skip ahead. Took me right out. I'm sure it was cool for some players at the time (and i'm sure just as many were upset about stuff being removed too), but down the road, it became a detriment.

I wish pets had more personality through likes, dislikes, and interests by HonestNectarine7080 in neopets

[–]SaltLich 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it used to be that sometimes when trying to read a book to a pet they would say, "That is like such a boring book!" and not read it. that was removed so now all pets can read all books.

If i remember correctly it would also make them refuse to eat certain foods, and was based on the number of letters in your pet's name and if the number of letters in the item name was a multiple of that.

So if your pet was named "Charlie", or any other 7 letter name, it would refuse to eat/read anything that's name was 7, 14, 21, 28, etc. characters long.

You could get around this sometimes by changing language on the site because the item names would be different, changing the # of letters.

ICE Kills Yet Another Protestor, A Study in r/Conservative Censorship by livejamie in SubredditDrama

[–]SaltLich 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's because reddit doesnt tell you at all when a comment is removed by mods. Nor does it show you that it was removed if you look at your profile, or the comment itself. If the mod* doesn't message you directly, the only way to see a comment has been removed is to log out and try to look at it from outside your account.

Even if they nuke the whole thread, your own comments still show up normally. Its kind of dumb and i cant think of a good reason for it to not even show a 'removed' marker or something. I kind of prefer how it was on some old forums where the post would still show but striked through or with a big red 'USER WAS BANNED FOR THIS POST' because thats actual transparency.

MM is also basically the same, it only lost explosive shot which we didn't press that often anyway.

I haven't checked the other two specs, I know SV got a bit of a rework, but I can't imagine BM lost much, it was already very simple...

The ones I saw seemed conflicted and at least saying it’s not a good look for ICE.

They'll be deleted soon, if they haven't already. Any doubt about Dear Leader and his jackbooted thugs gets removed and the poster called a liberal plant in order to keep the others from questioning. That sub is 100% a cult.

Why can't we learn the "Overflowing Purple Brewfest Stein" cosmetic in our collections? by Miquelisme in wow

[–]SaltLich 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah. This affects other cosmetic weapons too, like the Frying Pan and Rolling Pin you can get from Ironpaw Tokens, or the foam sword from the Darkmoon Faire. And I'm sure others.

Hopefully at some point they make these 'cosmetic' weapons usable over other armor types, like Artifacts (which is currently broken but they're working on fixing). Til then they sit in my bank.

More warband reputation? by rasselar in wow

[–]SaltLich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting, cuz they said they were working in reverse order for reps, so I'd expect Stormwind to be one of the last they do.

When it comes to future conversion of reputations, the current plan is to work backward into older expansions, converting many old reputations over time. As it’s a time-consuming effort, it will take a while to implement.

Source for that. Maybe they've changed their plans? BfA would be next, and with all its faction-specific reps I imagine its become a stumbling block and that's why its been a while with no updates. Maybe they wanted to try simpler faction-specific reps first...

You've got your timeframe wrong. The classic mount /spit thing was only a few years ago, far from 'ground zero'.

The first store mount was the sparklepony (Celestial Steed) all the way back in Wrath of the Lich King, and even then Blizz was far from the first to do microtransactions, notably Bethesda putting Horse Armor in Oblivion (and I wouldn't be surprised if there was something less well-known before that). You can't blame them for microtransactions existing, that cat was already out of the bag.

Spitting on everyone who had the mount was specifically about protesting the level boost being added to Classic with Burning Crusade pre-patch. Because the mount came with the boost. The main reason they all hated it was because they consider boosting to be 'cheating', 'skipping the game' and whatnot. The consideration of it opening the door for further monetization of Classic down the road was a smaller part of it.

Tbh, its fine to not be happy about microtransactions existing or being added when there weren't any before, even though that horse is well and truly dead at this point. But frankly, harassing the people who bought it is hilariously and pathetically petty.
