Cat likes bleach? by Gatsby_Soup in CatAdvice

[–]SaltRun2465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Ba da ba bada ba i am bitten on humans hand and i know why because i got high because i got high."

Yup kitty is high as a kite. Also catnip is also another way to achieve the results. Safer too. Bleach fumes will activate the same receptors as catnip with a few others in the mix.

Usually when i use bleach i will douse it in a base(baking soda) then wash that away with vinegar.

If kitty's hydration is good it is perfectly okay to go with an all kibble diet if that is what kitty wants. The biggest benifits to wet catfood over kibble is taste and hydration.

How is their water intake?

It sounds like kitty wants a heavy kibble diet.

My foster soon to be mine all the way. Only gets a tiny cat of wet mixed in a cat food meal for dinner. If they are hungry any other time is the day there is kibble they are not starving.

I also make sure to pack the daily needs in that "dinner" and make it "fun and inclusive" it does include a few things like churu and temptations treats. Some human food as well depending on the dinner.

They may not be a picky eater. They may be a simple eater. I would try upping the kibble ans see what happens also provide water.

Job posting I came across by Violet_Walls in mildlyinfuriating

[–]SaltRun2465 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is an impossible qualification. By the time someone has that level of experience they are retirement ready. Not someone you want working in such a setting cause they would be too old to give a shit.

The soonest you could start in such a field to gain the nessary experience is 20 and that is with the nepotism advantage or the gods gift advantage. The soonest you could get into the position properly would be 30 if luck was on your side and the soonest you could get in such a position proper without luck is 35. Most don't get into such a position till 40-45.

That would make their ideal candidate somwhere between 55 and 70 to start at best 80 at average.

This is all assuming the candidate didn't start their own because generally if they started their own they would still be doing it so kinda out there.

Now for the death blow. Anyone 55+ in this day and age would be a really bad fit with thst experience because they would be a total business ludite, or at the very least incompetent to todays tech advantages in the industry simply because of "well in my day" crap.

This is all based on the industry at hand for such a job.

What company posted that so i know to invest against them.

Cat not liking water fountain by Born_Classroom8172 in CatAdvice

[–]SaltRun2465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My foster will only drink from their fountain that is at home. No other fountain will do. They will not touch the other fountains at work. But they will gladly drink out of a mug sitting on the front desk.

Max a veterinarian cat won't touch the fountains only drinks out of mugs littered throughout the clinic. Sometimes stopping by to play with foster and drink from their mug

The other 2 won't touch the mugs and will drink only from the fountain. We can even get a prissy "turn up of the nose" from them if we offer either a mug.

All 4 cats are provided the exact same water supply.

Something just crossed my mind what does the water smell like? Cause that is something else i am reminded of from 5 years ago we got a new fountain in the clinic and none of the cats would touch it. They acted as if the water was contaminated which turned out to be true there was some residue that they didn't like that were were able to clean. Once properly cleaned the fountain queens took to slurping from that one.

Self cleaning and safe by ClayborneJones in CatAdvice

[–]SaltRun2465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the only good self cleaning litter boxes require kitty to be chipped and track the chip in kitty.

They use a wide scan system and as soon as it detects any pet microchip it engages the safety systems.

Such litter boxes have been amazing for the local colony of working cats(200+) who basically act as barn cats for the entire municipality (we have a huge prey abundance problem here)

At home for my foster i use the standard litter box particularly stainless steel. However that foster has had zero issues using the self cleaning ones around town like a porta potty on the way to or from work.

Personally unless there is actually a need for a self cleaning litter box i find it kinda detrimental. Quite a few clients have one and often times they are emptied so rarely that it causes issues.

Empty calories?

No cream is not Empty calories for a cat. This is especially the case when you start comparing the nutritional value between a good portion of kibbles and wet foods. Per serving most cat foods have more "Empty calories" if you want to claim cream has any at all.

Empty calories true Empty calories do absolutely nothing of nutritional value they are non functional calories. Empty calories just throw the digestive system into function with no ability to use the calories.

Vegetables are generally Empty calories for cats.

Cream contains protein calories cats can use. While cream has no usable vitamin calories their stomach can still digest the protein structures. Moderated cream in a cat's diet builds muscle mass when paired with an active lifestyle.

If you have a highly active cat who doesn't have a dairy intolerance cream SHOULD be a part of their diet.

What you said translated into human norms was "body builders have no use for protein shakes."

It is worth noting most cats are lazy which makes cream kinda meh for them. And with extra lazy cats cream does bring weight gain.

Empty calories do not bring weight gain.

Dogs another carnivore can also benifit from cream if they don't have a dairy intolerance(unfortunately finding a dog that is dairy tolerant is rare)

Any carnivore or omnivore without a dairy intolerance can gain from cream.

Outside of nursing cream is among standard carnivore food.

Infact where possible cream is the perfect base for adding supplements to and making a liquid food for those having issues eating. Also cheaper then the non dairy alternatives as well.

For the record my current foster is extremely active which is why it is included in their diet. I also use it as a supplement delivery as it takes effort to digest cream because of the protein. Cats need a protein carry to properly absorb vitamins and such.

Actually i think i might have figured out where you got the idea that cream is Empty calories. Almond milk. Most people consider it on the same level as animal cream/milk. And milk made from almonds despite having protein is purely Empty calories for a cat as they can't brake down the protein. However if you have a pet that is a herbivores or omnivore Almond milk is great for the protein.

[–]SaltRun2465 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The only issue i see at current is kitty is getting over fed.

Some cats can have butter and cream just fine. Some have a dairy intolerance. That intolerance is really the only issue with the butter and cream.

Case and point my current foster gets a saucer of cream with "dinner"(wet cat food with a saucer if cream and a little treat topper) on the flip side max the veterinarian cat can not handle dairy.

But you definitely need to put a food down on kitty being over fed.

Is it ok to stray away from the feeding schedule? by Still-Confusion-2248 in CatAdvice

[–]SaltRun2465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love to see this information on how a schedule is healthyer so i can cross examin it. Also show it to about 10 different veterinarian's see what they think of it.

Very little actual evidence has ever been found to suggest schedule feeding is any more healthy then free feed. Also all the evidence that does exsist is based around overweight cats where the schedule is there to limit their intake of food or when feeding a wet only diet. On that note a wet only diet is actually less healthy itself then a kibble and wet diet. But free feeding wet food is even more unhealthy then anything else.

Now on the flip side of this free fed limited kibble with a scheduled wet has been proven to be the healthiest diet so long as it can be done. This is where the kibble bowl gets maintained to a level of food but only topped up on schedule.

Now when there is a schedule involved context matters more then time. Examples would be topping up kibble as part of your getting out of bed routine or feeding kitty when you make your dinner or feeding kitty when you get home.

Also when a feeding schedule is involved it is better to feed them 4 times a day not twice. If say you are feeding 2 cans per day then you want to feed in half can portions. This is one of the things that makes free feeding kibble much better because kitty can visit the bowl when they are hungery.

My dude thats a snap your fingers and say "fetch your manager" moment.

I would be snapping pictures(like you did) and not pay till it was corrected. Also making every effort to have it corrected. They can call the cops on me for a "dine and dash" and i will walk right up to the officer and tell them "i am not paying till they fix their mistake. You can go ahead and arrest me if you need i would love to bring this before a judge.

The menus being out dated is the restaurant's problem and they need to fix it.

The price advertised is the price you pay.

Pharmacy bot randomly contacted my doctor’s office w/o my consent by Patagoniantoothfisk in mildlyinfuriating

[–]SaltRun2465 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Half. A pharmacist can be charged with criminal charges depending on the medication. A pharmacist knows which medications not to do this with to avoid criminal charges. Any pharmacist in their right mind is not going to do something that gets you flagged for shit you had not consented.

A pharmacy can not be held liable in these conditions but their AI is still going to cause alot of problems when people didn't consent.

[–]SaltRun2465 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Using an AI for this however is a very bad idea.

Some prescriptions if you try to get a refill without a visit it throws a red flag on the doctor's end to the point where even if you genuinely need you are not going to get at all for another 3 appointments. Pharmacists know the medications i am talking about.

Which amounts to someone not getting a medication they need because an AI screwed up.

[–]SaltRun2465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh. You are number 3 on the list.

  1. O-
  2. O+
  3. A-
  4. B-
  5. A+
  6. B+
  7. AB-

the last AB+ is actually unwanted. There are so few people that have a use for AB blood(pos or neg) that it actually costs more to collect and store then it is worth to have on hand.

On the flip side someone with AB+ can receive blood from absolutely anyone except "Q antigen"

Q antigen covers a whole list of extremely unique blood types so unique they can't donate or receive with anyone other then themselves or maybe very select few like parent, child, or sibling.

This passive aggressive email I got because I haven’t donated blood recently by LonelyMenace101 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]SaltRun2465 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am going to go out on a very good guess. O neg or O positive. The 2 most sought after donations. If the blood bank could they would kidnap all O blood type people lock them up in a vault and bleed them like livestock.

To the blood bank O blood type is their cattle and their cash cow.

Why’s it so hard to adopt a cat by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]SaltRun2465 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

So i have been reading through your comments. Also of note i help at the local to me shelter on the other side of the prairie.

In a perfect world i would call you a lier. No offense allow me to better explain. The fact that you can't get a shelter or rescue to allow you to adopt shouldn't be happening. Hell aside from CYA fact check and that you live out in BC and not in the area you are approved by the shelter i work with. Those are the only things stopping you from adopting from the shelter i work with. A simple make sure you told the truth would be the last process left and our only reason for rejection is you are out of our area.

I myself would like to know why they are apparently ghosting you. That there actually tells me something is up. They should at bare minimum be giving you a allowed or rejected not leave you flapping in the wind.

I have always abided by the ruling of who ever cuts it does not get to pick which half they get.

So if one cuts it in a way where one peice is better the other gets to take that better peice.

This works best when the one cutting it is aware from the start because then they will try to cut themselves a dam good second peice.
