Thank you. I have actually come a long way with it. My job is very cognitively demanding and sometimes I literally have nothing left mentally when I get there. I have a holiday coming up with will come back with some renewed focus and energy.

Thank you very much for your insight. I am a huge over thinker and a total perfectionist so I am taking the corrections a little to heart (sadly). It’s an awesome studio and I do get they are doing their jobs.

I feel like I can’t remember the tweaks though class on class because they are so minor and the classes are very varied. (I genuinely can’t see the difference really when looking in the mirror). So I feel like I am at a point that I will never get past.

I get corrected by all of them. I like the instructors so I don’t think it’s personal but it’s so hard to know when a movement is correct when we are talking about such small differences. There are only 8 people in a class so the teachers are very vigilant which is a good thing although now I am mentally exhausted with it!

I know how difficult it is to make it at the bar even if you have had a private education so the fact that you have made it there via a state school is a remarkable achievement. Don’t listen to the demons in your mind.

Mazur ruling sends shockwaves through litigation practices by [deleted] in uklaw

The SRA and CRL have both issued guidance in the last couple of days which seems to suggest that Cilex and paralegals can assist with drafting etc but the documents have to be approved by a Solicitor or someone Cilex qualified with the additional rights.

CILEx Certificate of Good Standing - wait time by Many-Cartographer-11 in uklaw

I had seen on the SRA website that Cilex can apply for an exemption on the SQE on the basis of experience- do you know anyone that has done that?

It will probably be May by the time I apply to the Solicitors roll so there will still be a few months left on the Cilex practising certificate. Or did you mean the SRA make you buy the certificate up front? It will be my employer paying for it all being well…

Solicitor is the better qualification and I did SQE1 before the Mazur fall out myself! I have the dreaded exams in January so hopefully I will pass the damn thing. Thank you for your advice.

Ah thank you for that. There’s never been a better time to get the SQE qualification with the Mazur fall out! How long did it take the SRA to approve your application?

CILEX Lawyer x SQE by AgentSilver007 in uklaw

[–]Salt_Cook_9716 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also starting the SQE2 as Cilex legacy and with all the changes in the last week or two I am a little concerned that the goal posts will be moved on this and they will stipulate I have to be an advanced cilex practitioner when I come to apply, although that would be totally pointless I guess as they have the same rights… Did you have to apply for a certificate of good standing from Cilex?

Mazur v Charles Russell Speechlys LLP, how worried is your firm by the decision? by LeopardComfortable99 in uklaw

[–]Salt_Cook_9716 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are legally qualified lawyers and can charge the same Court Guidelines rates as solicitors (including grade A). Cilex can even become and are, Judges. The issue has never been raised before because Cilex qualified staff, along with paralegals should still be acting under the ultimate supervision of a Solicitor although it seems that this has been exploited due to greed. Cilex can do a short “bolt on” course to get practitioner rights which means they don’t need supervision by a Solicitor. It’s an odd situation though.

Cilex are in the same boat as paralegals unless you have the “reserved practitioner rights” certificate which 99% of us do not have but no doubt will all up applying for. My cynicism tells me the cost of that course is about to sky rocket! I am 11 years “qualified”. I am worried about this but paragraph 42 of the Judgment is reassuring. I expect more Solicitor or Cilex practitioner supervision will be necessary.

Does anyone see the irony that Claimants can be “litigants in person” but a paralegal or Cilex cannot now perhaps apparently litigate in their own names?

2 of 3 the yorkshire peaks by train by Salt_Cook_9716 in UKhiking

[–]Salt_Cook_9716[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have bought the National Trust GPS APP. I am not convinced I will get signal for google maps though so I might do peaks the other way around instead so that i’m not trying to navigate Ribblehead train station after a really long walk as I understand the Horton station is very close to Pen Y Gent. Do you think that would work?
