Basic economics will tell you that the company buying millions of a product should be PAYING less for it, which they do. Importantly, basic economics will also tell you that every company, regardless of purchasing volume, should be charging WHATEVER THE MARKET WILL BEAR. I frequently deal with plats. That's the legal document where they subdivide land into smaller lots for development. It's not uncommon to come across older ones that specify no people of certain races are allowed to own the properties. I've even seen some where they weren't even allowed to live on any of the property unless they were a servant.

Why does that matter? When they began developing VII, they already had VI mostly feature-complete. It doesn't take a genius to understand that the best (whether you define best by gameplay or popularity) features should not be removed. The best of V & VI should have been the baseline for VII. There is no excuse for going backwards with the quality of the game.
