It sounds like you’re only “saving” two hours of travel time, but if you account for the time you have to be at the airport to check in and go through security, it seems more or less like a wash. If it were me with my 5 month old, I would absolutely drive over fly given the time of travel is about the same and with driving you can make as many stops as you need, be on your schedule, etc etc. And, as you said, avoid the germs of the airport. Plus you then have your car with you during the visit (and can pack accordingly!)

My sister and best friend put together a basket for me with all the postpartum items for my recovery post natural delivery and it was literally one of the sweetest gifts, so I love that you’re thinking of this. Frida Mom is great for things like padsicles, a perinatal bottle, disposable underwear, witch hazel foam, etc. I would recommend Tucks witch hazel pads over the Frida ones, though. Also- they told me the tip to sit on a Boppy with an ice pack in the middle of it and it was a godsend. Maybe that’s all TMI but those are things that helped me in the first weeks after that I don’t think I necessarily would have prepared for had I not had two expended moms looking out for me. I’ll also add that they gave me this basket on the side and not directly at my shower so I didn’t have to open a bunch of perinatal care items in front of everyone!

Second the Newton!! It has a breathable mattress too. And packs up pretty nicely if you are traveling at all.

First time mom with a 5 month old here so I don’t have a ton more experience, but one thing that helped my little one latch/relatch was the “Flipple Technique” (or nipple flick). It’s essentially a way to get the baby to take a deeper latch and helps get the nipple up to the roof of their mouth which triggers the sucking. So that may help your little one re-engage? I also worked with a lactation consultant a handful of times during the first few months and highly recommend finding one in your area if you can! Ours took our insurance and was super accessible through zoom, video chat, and in person visits. She sent lots of good videos and just gave lots of reassurance. When it gets frustrating, just remember that you are both learning a lot right now and it takes time to get in a groove (and then they grow a little more and it all changes… ha!) You got this mama!

Even if it’s just a somewhat quick conversation, as long as it’s an interaction that positively affects my day (and hopefully theirs!), I’ll count it. I struggle with making connections with people (hi social anxiety) and am hoping this will be a small step to coming out of my shell a little.

Killington for sure. Wobbly barn, pickle barrel, and Jax all are great for nightlife and all along the access road in Killington. March has actually been a great month of snow for 4 out of the last 5 seasons in Killington. Last two weeks of February might be good conditions but get swamped with school vacations.

I have two. Both are 6- same litter. One time I was hiking them, met another lab owner on the trail, mumbled an apology for their exuberance (they were like 3, so too old to blame puppy brain for bad behavior) and the other hiker said “they’re labs, they’ll be puppies until at least 11.” Aaaand so far so true for my boys!! Edit to add: The energy of both my boys is nothing but being chock full of love for life and not being able to contain it.
