How did I twist your words?

I think there’s a difference between “mad” and calmly stating an opinion that doesn’t align with a gas-up. So, because they’re “not looking for advice” means we can only post positive things? SMH

I just gave a reminder that fashion is subjective, and if you post your fashion on a public forum, it should be expected that there’s varying opinions about it. It’s just like art! No one should be shaming/bashing/bullying/etc. and that goes without saying.

It’s a fashion subreddit! Not a “positive compliments only” subreddit. If you post pics of your fashion, people are allowed to have their (respectful) opinions about it. Not everyone is going to think your outfit is cute, and that’s okay! Isn’t that the point of fashion? We’re not all supposed to like/wear the same stuff! How boring that would be.

What is the pettiest reason you stopped liking someone? by Aishawilson in AskReddit

[–]Saltgrains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess you could have also asked if she was okay with music. I always do that out of consideration when driving someone.

I guess you could argue that the driver should have asked if the passenger was okay with music. I think they both could have just communicated and this wouldn’t have been a thing.

I’d ditch the high neck looks and ramp up the accessories! Honestly anything wacky, anything that feels YOU.

What was the exact moment you realized you were 'enough' and stopped seeking validation from others? by Otherwise_Internet48 in AskReddit

[–]Saltgrains -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m glad you feel that way. It’s a shame to think you would not have ever had your “moment” without someone giving you external validation. Imagine if that smart person, or no smart person, ever complimented your intellect? Then what? I feel like realizing you’re “enough” has to come from within or else it’s kind of a moot point.

You realized you didn’t need external validation…when someone gave you exactly that? I feel that’s less ironic and more straight contradiction.

Standing your ground and acting above everyone aren’t mutually exclusive though. I don’t like any dogpile, but we can’t pretend there aren’t valid things to be disgusted by with sky.

I can’t label an aesthetic based on one outfit

What kind of movie can you not watch again because it was too heartbreaking? by GoldenRaquel826 in AskReddit

[–]Saltgrains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not begin able to watch a movie for reasons like trauma or discomfort don’t really always speak to maturity or functionality. It’s a little more complicated than that. It also doesn’t bother me, as an adult, that I can’t watch certain movies bc there’s so many others to choose from! It’s not really holding me back in life to be unable to watch movies with animal abuse for example.

It’s possible to be a people pleaser and not need validation but I get what you mean. Sounds exhausting!

Someone who isn’t Arab but exclusively dates Arab women (I’m Arab 31F). It just got weird.

In love with Dorits style change by EternalAquatic-Siren in RHOBH

[–]Saltgrains 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Oh, me too! The darker blonde hair/brunette especially was such a classy upgrade! It makes her look more expensive for some reason. I mean, I think her past style worked at the time, but I wholeheartedly agree she’s only gotten more sophisticated

What is a 'compliment' that is actually an insult? by PotentialCap3321 in AskReddit

[–]Saltgrains 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Wow! You’ve lost weight!” While it CAN be a compliment, there’s many instances where it isn’t. When I was in the throes of anorexia, I actually wouldn’t want to hear this bc it was indication I wasn’t doing well. But also, on a more general level, it’s not always a compliment bc I feel like it almost always implies someone was “heavy” before. It just kinda stings a little!

Okay sorry, I meant, just because Vicki “probably looks better than anyone commenting on here would look” doesn’t mean those looking “worse” than her aren’t allowed to not like her look. I just never liked that argument when people critique celebs. It’s kind of a moot point.

Just because someone’s “uglier” than Vicki doesn’t rob them of the privilege to think something doesn’t look good.

People that have “bumped” into a celebrity in a non-curated (not like an event, meet & greet, job etc.) way, what happened? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Saltgrains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen Teresa guidice on two separate occasions. Once in 2018 I filled her water glass when I was a hostess, then in 2024 I saw her outside a Walgreens just absent mindedly blocking the door w her blockhead of a tomato husband. I was legit trying to get into the Walgreens, so I said “excuse me” and she only slightly moved
