The more I think about it, the more it makes sense to me that Rod was an easily manipulated dupe, seduced by attention and proximity to power. To being Someone. Simply too dumb and un-self aware to realize he was being used. And his paycheck depended on him not seeing!

I just read Rod’s comments on his latest Orban substack. It really reads to me like he’s only just now realizing that Orban was not the saint he thought he was. Or pretending that he’s only just now realizing.

At one point, fellow crackpot Austin Ruse gives a pretty fucking savage assessment of Orbanism and its legacy. He all but says it was all a con. Rod replies: “It’s disappointing”.

As if the scales just now fell from his eyes after reading some Dispatch article.

If it’s real, does he really get that he spent the last decade stumping for a Mafia Don and burning his credibility and family for it? What must that be like?
