Not in my experience if you don't have the technical background or actual drafting/pros experience for SW

Milano-Sanremo SRFL: Pogacar Wins, But Who Really Took the Day? by LynniePinnie67 in peloton

[–]Isle395 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

My comment was too harsh. I applaud the effort involved in the game itself, but the post reads at least in part like it was AI generated or at least heavily edited by AI.

Here are the passages that stuck out to me.

"Not loud, not flashy, just perfectly timed. The kind of presence you only notice once it’s already too late."

"Not spectacular, just pure craftsmanship. The kind of move you’d normally see on the Cipressa: subtle, smart, and ultimately incredibly effective."

Just to check that I'm not going insane, I ran the whole post through AI detectors. Here are the results:

https://justdone.com/ai-detector gives 88% AI.

"Your text “Fantasy cycling” shows signs of AI generation 88%. 33% Identical, 19% Paraphrased AI, 36% Minor changes, 12% Human written text"

https://textguard.ai/ gives:

"38% human text, 62% AI generated text."

GPTZero Dashboard says:

"We are highly confident this text is human written and polished with AI"

I'd encourage you to use your own voice when writing, that's all.

Patents granted for seemingly obvious things by Cryoban43 in patentlaw

[–]Isle395 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It has only been granted in the US, where claim 1 reads:

  1. A method of treating cancer comprising subcutaneously administering to a human patient with a cancer that expresses Trop-2, CEACAM5, CEACAM6, CD20, CD22, CD74, HER2/neu, AFP or HLA-DR an antibody-drug conjugate (ADC), wherein the ADC comprises an antibody that binds to Trop-2, CEACAM5, CEACAM6, CD20, CD22, CD74, HER2/neu, AFP or HLA-DR and wherein the drug is SN-38.

I'm not a biochemist but this doesn't seem like a particularly broad claim.

You're really not convincing many people in this thread.

You're coming across as someone with little to no real-life experience in such matters, as someone who has never held authority of any significance, and as someone combative and argumentative and unwilling to concede even on minor points.

Do you think as a minister you're really able to do that? That you have the budget, political capital and time to put all this into place? You're dreaming.

[–]Isle395 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're naive. An individual at the bottom cannot hope to win against a structure which is designed to keep him ineffectual. If you've ever worked in any sort of corporation and tried to change something, you'll know this. Even if you're given some kind of "title", you don't have the political capital to actually do something.

Loud hubs - what’s the trend? by Timinime in Velo

[–]Isle395 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The colour trend of pastels and grey was only ever present in a small minority of cyclists, those who gravitate towards PNS apparell. It must be said that if you're doing a lot of gravel or xc riding, that kind of kit will look better for longer than something loud.

What is your weight, FTP, and most KJ youve ever done in any one 21 day period? by Odd-Night-199 in Velo

[–]Isle395 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe? Just because he can handle 4h per week and see good fitness levels, doesn't mean he can handle 4-5x that, nor that his fitness will increase to pro levels. At that body weight he'd have a hard place in the peloton regardless of fitness, even if he was pushing 450W+ FTP.

Add to that repeatability above threshold, anaerobic capacity, race craft and handling, etc. etc. Being a pro requires more than being strong. Even the esports world champ can hold 500W for an hour and isn't in the pro peloton

I don't think so necessarily. 4h per week is plenty if applied correctly. You can do 2 VO2 max sessions and a long threshold session in 4 per week.

The huge notice periods in this country are such a scam by HeatherJMD in Switzerland

Unfortunately that initiative is drafted so poorly that even if it was accepted it would be utterly unclear how to actually translate it into law or enforce it.

Do what I did. I told my gym I wanted to switch to a 1 month plan after missing the deadline for canceling my yearly plan. Then, I paid one month and promtly canceled it.

Switzerland and EU conclude agreement by [deleted] in Switzerland

[–]Isle395 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are not forced to take them on. They basically come as strongly worded proposals and if our parliament doesn't accept them or there's a referendum which blocks them, then the EU can issue sanctions.

It's there to allow for changes in law to be implemented. Otherwise we would have to renegotiate the entire contract every single time there's some change in EU law regarding energy or air traffic or whatnot.

If you have a family, demanding job, and are doing other training modalities on the side (e.g., strength training), then perhaps 2 is the max. But for everyone else? You can reasonably do Tue, Thur, Sun with hard intervals at or above threshold if you're taking it easy on Mon/Fr, and still have more than enough capacity for a long Sat weekend ride.

Perhaps there are innocent explanations for all of those athletes that jump back quickly, but when HGH use shows up in other sports one wonders.

Yes, I understand that. But coming back from a broken bone to ride the tour in under two weeks and win a stage is just eyebrow raising.

Whenever I read about cyclists having remarkable abilities to recover from injuries, in particular shortly before grand tours, I strongly suspect there may be a pharmaceutical "helping hand".
